Strategic MAnagement to Optimize Response To Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy Registry

To learn in a general Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy Defibrillators (CRT-D) population, which optimization techniques are used and how effective they are. It will compare 12-month response rates among different optimization methods and characterize which selected subject subgroups achieve better response than others. A subset of SMART Registry subjects will contribute to the NG4 Post Market Clinical Follow Up (PMCF) Cohort whose objective is collecting data on the NG4 CRT-D features and device usage in a real world setting and monitor long term safety associated with these devices to support CE Mark.

The researchers are doing this study to find out whether there will be less increase in cardiac filling pressure after the surgeon opens the pericardium (the membrane around the heart) than when the pericardium is intact. The researchers want to see whether opening the pericardium is an effective way to reduce the blood filling pressures in the heart.

Ketones in Heart Failure - Effects on Cardiac Efficiency

Ketones may have beneficial effects on myocardial metabolism and hemodynamics. In the present study, healthy test subjects and patients with heart failure with reduced ejections fraction will be investigated in a randomized cross-over design with ketone infusions and placebo. Use of Simulation to Improve VAD Self-management

This study will evaluate the performance of a curriculum using medical simulators to train patients with advanced heart failure and their caregivers to master the self-management of ventricular assist devices (a device implanted into the heart to help circulate the blood). The investigators expect this training will improve self-management skills, and reduce VAD-related infections and re-hospitalizations. In addition to providing innovative training to the patients and their caregivers, the study will advance our knowledge of the effects of simulation-based training on patient self-management and safety.

Application of Right Atrial Left Ventricular Fusion Pacing in Patients With CRT Indications

This study is designed to assess the clinical outcomes of Left-Ventricular (LV) fusion pacing compared to Bi-Ventricular (BV) pacing, also known as Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy (CRT), in Chinese Heart Failure (HF) population. Specifically, the study will assess the changes of cardiac function of each group through 3-month follow up/ 6-month follow up compared with original outcomes before aCRT (adaptive Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy) implantation. Secondly, the study will assess whether parameters of aCRT that were tested in Western population are relevant to parameters of Chinese HF patients.
