Normative QEEG/ERP Data for Healthy Volunteers

Many scientific papers have reported that ERP and QEEG biomarkers can be useful in the evaluation of neurological and psychiatric disorders. A study previously conducted with the COGNISION® system has shown how data collected with the system could help detect cognitive deficits in elderly individuals with probable early Alzheimer's disease (Cecchi et al., 2015). Furthermore, normative ranges for ERP and QEEG parameters are sensitive to subject age (see for example van Dinteren et al., 2014). This study will use advanced EEG techniques to measure brain function among healthy adults ages 20 through 59 to use as reference data to compare against individuals that suffer from neurological and psychiatric disorders. QEEG and ERP parameters from the current study will compliment previously collected normative data in healthy subjects 60 years of age and older (Cecchi et al., 2015).

Measurement of Insulin Levels in Cerebral Spinal Fluid (CSF) of Healthy Adults After a Single Intranasal Dose

The purpose of this study is to find out whether insulin, a drug approved by the FDA for the treatment of diabetes mellitus, reaches the brain and spinal cord when delivered as a nasal spray (intranasally). Intranasal insulin has been shown to improve memory and mood in patients with mild cognitive impairment and dementia, but more evidence is needed to support the ability to effectively target the brain through intranasal routes. 12 healthy adults will be randomly assigned to receive a single dose of either 40 units ("low dose" group) or 80 units ("high dose" group) of insulin. Participants will undergo image-guided lumbar puncture (spinal tap) performed by a study radiologist. Samples of cerebrospinal fluid (a fluid surrounding the brain and spinal cord) and blood will be collected at 5 timepoints during the lumbar puncture: once prior to the administration of intranasal insulin, and again at 10, 20, 30, and 40 minutes after the dose is given. Samples will be tested to determine the level of insulin detected in the cerebrospinal fluid and blood at each time point. Results of this study will provide essential information about the ability of the SipNose device to effectively deliver insulin to the central nervous system of humans as measured in the cerebrospinal fluid.

A Study to Assess Effect of Two Facial Sunscreens in Improving Wrinkles, Fine Lines and Melasma in Adult Participants

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the topical safety (tolerability/acceptability) and efficacy of two facial sunscreen in improving wrinkles, fine lines and melasma after 84 +/- 2 days of use under normal conditions on the face by adult participants. For these investigational products, safety parameters, clinical efficacy, instrumental efficacy (assessment of color intensity and size of melasma spots and assessment of wrinkles and fine lines), facial imaging, and self-perceived efficacy through subjective questionnaire and quality of life questionnaires (MELASQol) will be evaluated, as well as an open emotional statement written by the participant at the end of use experience".
