Bovine atelocollagen skin testing of healthy adult volunteers to investigate the potential of allergy to atelocollagen medical device implants
Study Design This is a phase 1, randomized, Vehicle-controlled, double-blinded study to assess the safety of Caregen Intranasal CG-SpikeDown in healthy subjects. All randomized subjects will receive an active drug or Vehicle. Subjects randomized to the DP(Drug product) active treatment will receive CG- SpikeDown intranasally once daily for one or seven days at either a low (25 mg) or planned (50 mg) dose. Subject recruitment will be conducted via study advertisement on social media, and subjects will be adequately compensated. The subjects will arrive each day at the clinic to receive the treatment and will be hospitalized for safety monitoring for the first 24 hours post-DP or vehicle administration.
Ketone bodies are produced in the liver at high levels of fatty acids, and act as an important source of energy for the brain and heart during fasting. The energy production from ketone metabolism is less oxygen-demanding than both glucose and fatty acid metabolism, and ketone substances can therefore be a very energy-efficient substrate for the heart. Insulin-resistant people as well as people with heart disease have difficulty burning glucose in the heart due to the insulin resistant condition and are therefore dependent on other energy sources such as free fatty acids and ketones. Because ketones are oxygen-sparing compared to fatty acids, interventions that increase the level of ketone bodies can potentially reduce the heart's need for oxygen in patients with narrowed coronary arteries. PET/CT is a functional and non-invasive imaging modality and suitable for tracking the fate of metabolites non-invasively, as most substrates or metabolites can be labeled by a PET isotope. The purpose of this experiment is therefore to validate a new ketone tracer called 3-[11C]-OHB. Implementation of the 3-[11C]-OHB tracer will in future allow the investigators to more directly estimate the impact of different levels of ketone bodies on organ functions by measuring tissue-specific ketone uptake, both after intravenous and oral administration.

Introduction: Overweight and obesity are associated with an unbalanced energy intake caused by unhealthy dietary habits, including a constant consumption of energy-dense foods, saturated and trans fats, refined sugars, along with a deficient protein and dietary fiber intake. Pulse consumption has been demonstrated to improve long-term body weight management. Despite these benefits, in several regions, the consumption of pulses does not meet the local recommendations. Consequently, pulse research has increased widely in order to provide food alternatives reformulated with pulses to promote their consumption. Hypothesis: The consumption of a common bean baked snack (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) and cooked beans increases satiety, reduces energy intake and produce a low glycemic response in people with overweight and normal weight. Objectives: Evaluate the acute effect of a common bean baked snack and cooked bean consumption on subjective satiety and energy intake in people with overweight and normal weight. Material and Methods: Randomized crossover clinical trial, 18 subjects with normal weight and 18 subjects with overweight, 18-50 years old, consumption of 40 g of common bean baked snack, cooked beans and white bread (control). Subjective satiety, energy intake and glycemic response. - Intervention A: Common bean baked snack. - Intervention B: Cooked beans. - Control: White bread. Additionally, the glycemic index will be determined under the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 26642:2010. 10 subjects with normal weight or overweight, 18-50 years old, consumption of 54 g of common bean baked snack and 25 g of anhydrous glucose. - Intervention A: Common bean baked snack. - Control: Anhydrous glucose
