Filter by:The aim of the Fluid at Work Study is to develop and evaluate a fluid intake measurement tool for use in the UK working population. From the results of a systematic review and a round table discussion a novel fluid measurement tool has been developed - the Workplace Beverage Intake Questionnaire (WBIQ) The observational evaluation study will measure the relative validity and reliability of WBIQ for assessing fluid intake in a workplace population.
The main aim of the study is to investigate whether subjects can learn self control of activity of the anterior insula via real-time functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) neurofeedback training based on a regulation strategy of interoceptive processing.
The study will consist of 2 parts, i.e. a single ascending dose part with integrated food effect assessment and assessment of relative bioavailability (Part A), and a multiple ascending dose part (Part B). Part A will have a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled design. Subjects will receive single ascending doses of CFTX-1554 or placebo (as liquid formulation under fasted condition) in 7 subsequent cohorts. Drug intake under fed conditions, and as capsule under fasted conditions and under fed conditions (Periods 2 to 4), compared to liquid formulation under fasted conditions (Period 1) (1 single dose level only) will be assessed. Part B will have a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled design, assessing multiple ascending oral doses of CFTX-1554 or placebo in 4 subsequent cohorts.
In this work, the investigators will assess whether cranberry (poly)phenols improve mood disorders including stress, anxiety and depression via the gut-brain axis in university students. The investigators will evaluate whether the effects observed are related to an improvement in gut microbiome diversity and function, and whether the mechanism of action may be mediated by a decrease in inflammatory markers, modulation of neurotransmitters or via an alteration of BDNF levels. The investigators will also quantify the most comprehensive panel of cranberry (poly)phenol metabolites. A double-blind, randomized placebo controlled 2-arm parallel study will be conducted in the Metabolic Research Unit (MRU, Department of Nutritional Sciences at KCL).
This study will investigate the impact of impaired hepatic function (IHF) on the plasma pharmacokinetics of ALXN2050 in order to provide dosing recommendations for future indications in individuals with varying degrees of IHF.
In order to assess the potential impact of steady state BI 425809 on CYP3A clinically, the effect of BI 425809 on the midazolam pharmacokinetics will be evaluated. Midazolam is a recommended substrate of CYP3A4.
The purpose of this clinical trial is to learn if the study medicine (called PF-06823859) is safe and how it is processed in healthy Chinese participants. This study is seeking participants who: - Are between 18 to 45 years of age, inclusive, at the time of signing the Informed Consent Document (ICD). - Are Chinese participants who are overtly healthy as determined by medical evaluation including medical history, physical examination, laboratory tests, and 12 lead ECG (electrocardiogram). - Have a BMI (body mass index) of 19 to 27 kg/m2 (inclusive); and a total body weight >50 kg (110 lb). All participants in this study will receive PF-06823859 or a placebo. A placebo does not have any medicine in it but looks just like the medicine being studied. PF-06823859 will be given as an infusion directly into a vein. We will compare the experiences of people receiving PF-06823859 to those of people who do not. This will help us determine if PF-06823859 is safe and how it behaves inside the human body. Participants will take part in this study for up to 157 days. During this time, they will receive PF-06823859 or placebo and be observed for any effects.
In oncology, the search for genetic alterations or infectious agents in tumour tissues has become a major medical challenge for diagnosis, prognosis, prediction of response to treatment and in particular to targeted therapies, or for the biological monitoring of the disease. Over the last ten years, the development of new molecular biology tools based on high-throughput technologies has enabled us to revisit our conceptions of the development and natural history of cancers. The use of these tools has also allowed the dismemberment of numerous cancerous pathologies according to their molecular etiologies and oncogenetic histories. These new molecular biology tools have thus contributed to the emergence of so-called personalised or precision medicine.
The aim of the current trial is to assess the exposure of firefighters (FF) to environmental pollutants emitted from fires, to explore the association of exposure with their health status and to compare these data with those of non-FF participants
This study will evaluate the effects of single ascending doses (SAD) and multiple ascending doses (MAD) of ALXN1830 administered subcutaneously (SC) to healthy adult participants.
