Lumoptik BRIGHTPOINT Reflectometer Device for Lumbar Epidural Placement

The goal of this clinical trial is to test the BrightPoint Epidural device as the first system to use multispectral reflectometry to find the epidural space in lumbar neuraxial procedures requiring epidural needle. The main questions it aims to answer are: 1. Is the device a qualitatively effective secondary confirmation of Loss of Resistance? 2. Is the device a qualitatively effective training tool for educating trainees in how to perform lumbar epidurals? Participants will undergo a neuraxial procedure in which the attending anesthesiologist will use the BrightPoint epidural device to form an opinion on its effectiveness in confirming epidural space access.

Water is K'é: Multi-level Intervention to Promote Healthy Beverage Choices Among Navajo Families

The goal of this clinical trial is to understand if a cultural intervention for Navajo families will improve healthy beverage habits, health outcomes, and family cohesion. The main questions it aims to answer are: - Does Water is K'é results in healthier beverage habits among children aged 2 to 5, compared with children in a control group? - Does the intervention improve the health of other family members? - How does the intervention affect family well-being? Participants will take part in a four-month program at the early child education site (such as a Head Start or the Bureau of Indian Affair's Family and Child Education or FACE Program) where the child is enrolled. They will take part in lesson plans, a social media campaign, and a family water access plan. Researchers will compare the participating families with families at wait-list early child educations sites. We will collect information through surveys, health measurements, and qualitative interviews and compare results to learn if Water is K'e improves health behaviors, health outcomes, and family cohesion.

Spinal Cord Stimulation for Respiratory Rehabilitation in Patients With Chronic Spinal Cord Injury

Respiratory complications are among the leading causes of death in patients with chronic spinal cord injury (SCI). Our previous work showed that pulmonary function can be improved by using our original respiratory training method. However, the effectiveness of this intervention is limited due to the disruption of brain-spinal connections and consequently lowered spinal cord activity below the injury level. Our recent studies showed that electrical stimulation of the spinal cord below the level of injury leads to increased ventilation which indicates activation of the spinal cord structures related to respiration. These findings indicate that spinal cord stimulation can be a promising therapeutic additive to the treatment. The goal of this study is to justify the establishment of a new direction in rehabilitation for patients with SCI by using a non-invasive spinal cord stimulation in combination with respiratory training. Our aims are: 1) to evaluate the effects of such stimulation applied to the injured spinal cord on pulmonary function and respiratory muscle activity, and 2) to evaluate the effectiveness and therapeutic mechanisms of the spinal cord stimulation combined with respiratory training. Thirty-six individuals with chronic SCI will be recruited and assigned to three groups to receive respiratory training or spinal cord stimulation alone or a combination of them. All participants will be tested before and after cycles of experimental procedures with/or without stimulation. Our hypotheses will be confirmed if the respiratory training combined with spinal cord stimulation results in the most enhanced positive effects.

This is a virtual, single-arm clinical trial that will last 30 days. Participants will drink 1 bottle of the Vitamin Energy® shot daily and complete questionnaires at baseline, Day 7, Day 14, and Day 30. Participants' energy, mood, and cognitive function will be evaluated at baseline and at each check-in. Bodyweight will also be assessed at baseline and Day 30. Likert scale responses will be examined from baseline to each check-in. Participant responses on product feedback will be presented as % scores.
