NCT ID: NCT00228683 Withdrawn - Hepatoblastoma Clinical Trials

Hepatoblastoma Biology Study and Tissue Bank

Start date: September 2005
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This is a study to collect and bank tissue specimens and blood from patients with Hepatoblastoma.

NCT ID: NCT00226746 Withdrawn - Clinical trials for Carcinoma, Pancreatic Ductal

Efficacy Study of Gemcitabine, Paclitaxel, and Irradiation in the Treatment of Pancreatic Cancer

Start date: March 2003
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to find out what effects, good and bad, the chemotherapy drugs gemcitabine (Gemzar) and paclitaxel (Taxol) have in combination with twice daily radiation treatment on locally advanced pancreatic cancer.

NCT ID: NCT00226668 Withdrawn - Brain Tumor Clinical Trials

XERECEPT® (hCRF) for Primary Glioma Patients Requiring Dexamethasone to Treat Peritumoral Brain Edema

Start date: January 2006
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to examine the safety and efficacy of XERECEPT (human Corticotropin-Releasing Factor, or hCRF) compared to dexamethasone in patients with primary malignant glioma who require increased dexamethasone doses to control symptom of peritumoral brain edema.

NCT ID: NCT00226083 Withdrawn - Sickle Cell Disease Clinical Trials

Study of Blood Platelets in Sickle Cell Disease

Start date: August 2005
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

We are studying if sickle cell disease blood platelets are larger than normal and how they may cause obstruction of blood vessels. We are also trying to study the reasons why large platelets are found in patients with sickle cell disease.

NCT ID: NCT00225381 Withdrawn - Clinical trials for Anesthetized Patient With Severe Systemic Disease (ASA 3 or 4)

Gas Kinetics and Metabolism in Anesthesia During Non Steady State

Start date: August 2005
Phase:
Study type: Observational

During clinical anesthesia, it is astonishing that CO2 monitoring consists mainly of end-tidal PCO2 to confirm endotracheal intubation and to estimate ventilation, and O2 monitoring consists of a single PO2 measurement to detect a hypoxic gas mixture. Better understanding of how O2 and CO2 kinetics monitoring can define systems pathophysiology will greatly enhance safety in anesthesia by detecting critical events such as abrupt decrease in cardiac output (Q.T) by vena-caval compression during abdominal surgery, occurrence of CO2 pulmonary embolism during laparoscopy, rising tissue O2 consumption (V.O2) during light anesthesia, and onset of anaerobic metabolism (V.CO2 is disproportionately higher than V.O2).

NCT ID: NCT00222989 Withdrawn - GERD Clinical Trials

PPI Versus Placebo in Severe Functional Heartburn

Start date: October 2003
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Proton Pump Inhibitors are no better than placebo in relieving GERD symptoms in patients with functional Heartburn.

NCT ID: NCT00221494 Withdrawn - Depression Clinical Trials

Can Additional Drug Therapy Accelerate Response Time to Antidepressants

Start date: January 2004
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

Antidepressants are commonly prescribed and are effective for treating depression. However, they generally take 4-6 weeks for a therapeutic response. This study is evaluating whether simultaneous treatment with thyroid hormone or pindolol can decrease the response time ("getting better faster") in patients who are starting SSRI treatment.

NCT ID: NCT00221481 Withdrawn - Bipolar Disorder Clinical Trials

An Evaluation of Divalproex vs. Olanzapine for Alcohol Abuse Relapse Prevention in Patients With Bipolar Disorder

Start date: n/a
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

This study will evaluate how effective mood stabilizers are in the treatment of bipolar disorder with comorbid alcoholism

NCT ID: NCT00217659 Withdrawn - Breast Cancer Clinical Trials

S0511, Goserelin and Anastrozole in Treating Men With Recurrent or Metastatic Breast Cancer

Start date: September 2005
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Estrogen can cause the growth of breast cancer cells. Hormone therapy using goserelin and anastrozole may fight breast cancer by blocking the use of estrogen by the tumor cells. Giving goserelin together with anastrozole may be an effective treatment for male breast cancer. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well giving goserelin together with anastrozole works in treating men with recurrent or metastatic breast cancer.

NCT ID: NCT00217035 Withdrawn - Burns Clinical Trials

Glutamine Enriched Total Parenteral Feeding and Proline Metabolism in Severely Burned Patients

Start date: August 1997
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

Proline is a non-essential amino acid that helps with collagen formation. Collagen is one of the main ingredients of skin, bone, tendons, and connective tissue. It is thought that proline becomes depleted in burn patients because it is being used in greater than normal quantities to help the injured skin and connective tissue heal. If this is true, then the body must look for alternate energy sources as proline becomes depleted. This study aims to evaluate 1)the metabolic kinetics of the amino acids proline, glutamate, and ornithine and 2) the effects of glutamine supplemented total parenteral nutrition (TPN) on the metabolism of these amino acids.
