There are about 173942 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in United States. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
The pilot study will be a First In Human Clinical Trial to evaluate the Endolumik Gastric Calibration Tube and associated methods in a human clinical cohort of 20-30 bariatric patients at two high-volume bariatric programs. During this clinical study, the single-use, disposable Endolumik Gastric Calibration Tube will be used during twenty sleeve gastrectomy operations and gastric bypass operations.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the feasibility of integrating Brief Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (BCBT) counseling with a software application (app) to prevent future suicidal thoughts and behaviors.
The investigators will conduct a pilot experiment for a novel and personalized method for voice restoration using machine learning applied to surface EMG (sEMG) signal from articulatory muscles of the face and the neck allowing recognition of silent speech. The investigators predict that the use novel personalized method for voice restoration will be feasible and successful for patients.
This is an observational study in which data from women with Chagas disease who will take or have already taken nifurtimox during pregnancy and the impact on their babies are studied. Chagas disease is an inflammatory, infectious disease caused by the parasite Trypanosoma cruzi. This parasite is mainly spread by insects called triatomine bug. If Chagas disease is left untreated, it can later cause e.g. serious heart and digestive problems. Nifurtimox has been used for more than 50 years to treat Chagas disease in children and adults. It is not recommended to be used during pregnancy as data from animal studies indicate that it may harm the baby. Currently, there are not enough data to know if this is also the case in humans. In this study, researchers want to collect data on the safety of nifurtimox use in pregnant women. To do this, researchers will collect the following information: - Birth defects (abnormal and problematic structures or functions, a child is born with) - Pregnancy outcomes (like live birth, preterm birth, still birth/death of the unborn baby, miscarriage, or abortion) - Certain health problems of the child up to 12 months of age - Certain health problems of the women experienced during pregnancy The data will be collected from different sources including telephone calls with the women or their doctor, CRFs (case reprt forms) or from medical records The researchers will compare the proportion of children with birth defects, pregnancy outcomes or certain health problems of the child or the women during pregnancy with available data on these outcomes in the general population. The study will run for approximately 10 years.
This study examines the impact of Auxilio Brasil (AB), a cash transfer program to mothers of school-age children, on resource-deprived populations in Brazil and its protective effects on child neurodevelopment and mental health. The investigators will conduct a randomized clinical trial (RCT) among those already receiving AB in which 300 families will be randomized in a 1:1 ratio to receive either a high ($40/month) or low ($2/month) supplemental transfer for 2 years. Three hundred children (index child participants; 7-10 years old) will be enrolled across both study arms. Additionally, up to 150 siblings ("sibling participants;" 7-10 years old) will be enrolled. Eligible families who decide to participate will sign a study-specific informed consent (mother) and assent (child) form. The UNIFESP team will conduct the respective assessments at baseline, approximately 8- and 16- months, 24-months and approximately 6-months post-RCT. Aim 1: Determine the impact of high vs low cash transfers on children's exposure to adversities (ACEs) and neurodevelopment. Aim 2: Determine the impact of cash transfers on children's inflammatory markers and HPA activity/cortisol. Exploratory Aim: The investigators will explore (i) whether sex/gender of the children moderates the pathways in the above mediation model; and (ii) whether cash transfer-related effects persist 6 months post-RCT.
Using a noninvasive eye tracker, the investigators will measure how participants move their eyes to objects arrayed on a computer screen. Participants will be asked to find one element among many.
VA research has been advancing a high-performance brain-computer interface (BCI) to improve independence for Veterans and others living with tetraplegia or the inability to speak resulting from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, spinal cord injury or stoke. In this project, the investigators enhance deep learning neural network decoders and multi-state gesture decoding for increased accuracy and reliability and deploy them on a battery-powered mobile BCI device for independent use of computers and touch-enabled mobile devices at home. The accuracy and usability of the mobile iBCI will be evaluated with participants already enrolled separately in the investigational clinical trial of the BrainGate neural interface.
Single center, open-label, baseline-controlled study evaluating the use of a Sciton fractionated ablative laser in the treatment of Hidradenitis Suppurativa (HS) scarring.
This study is a cross-sectional observational study conducted in patients referred for routine ECG, to compare output from the everbeat finger-worn ECG device to standard of care (SOC) 12-lead electrocardiography. No intervention is involved in this study. Patients visiting the study site during the study period will be assessed for eligibility on a convenience basis, and observational data will be recorded on those eligible.
The purpose of this study is to assess the therapeutic response to VR Solace in patients with chronic pain and anxiety using real-time clinical and survey data. Regression analysis of demographic characteristics, lab and survey data will be conducted to better understand the efficacy of VR Solace in treating chronic pain and anxiety. The investigator also aims to explore the possible association between the patient-reported changes in pain or anxiety levels with real-time physiological changes observed during VR Solace use.
