NCT ID: NCT00777101 Completed - Breast Cancer Clinical Trials

Study Evaluating Neratinib Versus Lapatinib Plus Capecitabine For ErbB2 Positive Advanced Breast Cancer

Start date: February 4, 2009
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

This is a study of an experimental drug (neratinib) versus a combination of drugs (lapatinib and capecitabine) in women who have erbB-2 (HER-2) positive metastatic or locally advanced breast cancer. The goal of this study is to compare the two regimens in shrinking tumors and extending the lives of women with erbB2 (HER2) positive breast cancer. The study will also compare the safety of the two regimens and to compare quality of life of patients taking the two regimens.

NCT ID: NCT00770744 Completed - Schizophrenia Clinical Trials

Efficacy of Lu 31-130 in Patients With Schizophrenia

Start date: September 2008
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The main purpose with the study is to explore the efficacy and safety of Lu 31-130 in patients suffering from schizophrenia compared to a standard antipsychotic drug.

NCT ID: NCT00769171 Completed - Clinical trials for Infection, Intra-abdominal

Dragon Study (the Safety and Efficacy for Treatment of Patients With Complicated Intra Abdominal Infections)

DRAGON
Start date: October 2005
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to assess the safety and efficacy of intravenous administration Moxifloxacin (BAY 12-8039) compared to intravenous ceftriaxone and metronidazole for the treatment of patients with complicated intra abdominal infections. In view of the fact that intra abdominal infections are typically polymicrobial and are often treated empirically, the selected antibacterial agent must cover the likely spectrum of bacterial pathogens. Combination antibiotics therapy has been widely used with great success.

NCT ID: NCT00769067 Completed - Clinical trials for Non-small Cell Lung Cancer

A Randomized Trial Of PF-00299804 Taken Orally Versus Erlotinib Taken Orally For Treatment Of Advanced Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer That Has Progressed After One Or Two Prior Chemotherapy Regimen

Start date: November 2008
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

This study will compare PF-00299804 given orally on continuous schedule to the approved drug, erlotinib, in patients whose non-small cell lung cancer has progressed after chemotherapy; patients will be randomized to receive one of these drugs, and followed for efficacy and tolerance of each.

NCT ID: NCT00764790 Completed - Influenza Clinical Trials

Immunogenicity and Safety of GSK Biologicals' Influenza Vaccine Versus a Licensed Comparator in Children

Start date: October 1, 2008
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the immunogenicity and the safety of GlaxoSmithKline Biologicals' seasonal influenza vaccine, Fluarix, compared to Fluzone (a US-licensed vaccine) in children, 6 to 35 months of age.

NCT ID: NCT00761332 Completed - Osteoporosis Clinical Trials

Back Pain in Patients With Severe Osteoporosis

Start date: February 2008
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

The purpose of this study is to compare the effectiveness of teriparatide versus therapies that decrease bone loss to prevent new or worsening back pain in patients with osteoporosis seen in clinical practice.

NCT ID: NCT00755287 Completed - Clinical trials for Diabetes Mellitus Type 2

A Study of the Safety, Tolerability and Effect on Glycemic Control of Taspoglutide Versus Insulin Glargine in Insulin Naive Type 2 Diabetic Patients Inadequately Controlled With Metformin Plus Sulphonylurea.

Start date: November 2008
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This 3-arm study will assess the efficacy, safety and tolerability of taspoglutide compared to insulin glargine in patients with insulin-naive type 2 diabetes mellitus inadequately controlled with metformin and sulphonylurea combination therapy. Patients will be randomized to receive taspoglutide (10 mg once weekly, or 10mg once weekly for 4 weeks followed by 20mg once weekly) or insulin glargine (starting dose 10 IU/day) in a ratio of 1:1:1 in addition to continued prestudy metformin treatment. The anticipated time on study treatment is 2+ years, and the target sample size if 500+ individuals.

NCT ID: NCT00751114 Completed - Clinical trials for Diabetes Mellitus, Type 2

Evaluation of Insulin Glargine Versus Sitagliptin in Insulin-naive Patients

EASIE
Start date: November 2008
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

The primary objective was to demonstrate the superiority of insulin glargine over sitagliptin in reducing Glycosylated Hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) from baseline to the end of the treatment period. Secondary objective was to assess the effect of insulin glargine in comparison with sitagliptin on: - HbA1c level - Fasting Plasma Glucose (FPG) - 7-point plasma glucose (PG) profiles - Percentage of patients with HbA1c <7% and <6.5% Safety objectives consisted of: - Hypoglycemia occurrence - Body weight - Overall safety

NCT ID: NCT00745914 Completed - Diabetes Clinical Trials

Peroxisome Proliferator-Activated Receptor-gamma (PPAR-gamma) Agonist in Diabetic End-Stage Renal Disease Patients

Start date: September 2008
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

To test the hypothesis that PPAR-gamma agonist, rosiglitazone, induces carotid plaque regression in diabetic ESRD patients on maintenance PD via its anti-inflammatory property.

NCT ID: NCT00745719 Completed - Clinical trials for Endstage Renal Disease

Parathyroidectomy in Endstage Renal Disease

Start date: March 2007
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

To test the hypothesis that total parathyroidectomy retards cardiovascular calcification, improves bone mineral density, reduces cardiac hypertrophy and arterial stiffening in end-stage renal disease patients on maintenance dialysis.
