There are about 13446 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Belgium. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
This 2-arm study will evaluate the efficacy and safety of Avastin versus placebo in combination with Roferon as first-line treatment in patients with metastatic renal cell cancer (clear cell type) who have had nephrectomy. The anticipated time of study treatment is 1-2 years, and the target sample size is 500+ individuals.
The study aims to evaluate the safety and clinical effect of daily oral treatment of Laquinimod capsules in active moderate to severe Crohn's disease. This study will assess Laquinimod doses of 0.5mg /day to 2 mg/day in sequential dose groups (cohorts). Laquinimod is a novel immunomodulating drug which is currently in advanced stages of development by Teva Pharmaceuticals Ltd. for Multiple Sclerosis.
Graft preservation in clinical pancreas transplantation is based on hypothermia achieved by topic cooling and cold in situ flushing using special perfusion solutions designed to attenuate the effects of ischemia/reperfusion and prolong cold ischemia tolerance. For pancreas transplantation, University of Wisconsin (UW) solution is the most commonly used perfusate. However, over the last years, Histidine-Tryptophan-Ketoglutarate (HTK) solution has been increasingly used for abdominal organ procurement. Retrospective reports published so far have demonstrated the safety of both perfusion solutions. However, to date, no prospective study comparing both perfusion solutions has been published. Aim of this study was to prospectively evaluate early pancreas graft function in clinical pancreas transplantation after organ perfusion with HTK vs. UW solution. The study hypothesis is that HTK is not inferior to UW for organ perfusion during procurement in clinical pancreas transplantation.
The purpose of this study was to demonstrate that mesalazine 4g orally per day once daily (QD) is non-inferior to the reference regimen, mesalazine 4g per day in two divided doses (BID) (2g x 2 per day), in patients with active ulcerative colitis (UC) treated for 8 weeks, in terms of remission evaluated with the Ulcerative Colitis Disease Activity Index (UC-DAI) score and defined as less than or equal to 1. Both groups (4g QD and 2gx2) received an enema containing 1g of mesalazine at bedtime during the initial 4 weeks. Participants in remission at week 8 received an additional 4 weeks of maintenance therapy with 2g oral mesalazine once a day. Participants who did not achieve remission at Week 8 completed the study at week 8.
To evaluate the safety and efficacy of Lenalidomide (Revlimid (R)) in subjects with mantle cell lymphoma who have relapsed, progressed or are refractory to bortezomib.
This study evaluates the effects of 12-week treatment with two doses of tiotropium bromide (2.5 mcg q.d. and 5 mcg q.d.) compared to placebo administered via the Respimat device on lung function in patients with Cystic Fibrosis. The selection of the optimal dose will be based on bronchodilator efficacy, safety evaluations and pharmacokinetic evaluations
The objective of the current study is to investigate the safety and tolerability of BI 1356 (5 mg / once daily) given for 78 weeks in different modalities of treatment. The treatment modalities are determined by the treatment in the blinded trial in which every patient was included previously as BI 1356 in monotherapy (patients in 1218.16 trial), BI 1356 in combination with pioglitazone (patients in 1218.15 trial), BI 1356 added to metformin background (patients in 1218.17 trial) or BI 1356 added to a background therapy of metformin in combination with a sulphonylurea (patients in 1218.18 study)
The purpose of this study is to compare the administration of 1 unit dose of 50 mg tramadol perorally given in 3 unit dosages versus tramadol IV given in 3 unit dosage of 35 mg during the first 6 hours postoperatively and to investigate the time course and accuracy of pain relief versus the onset and duration of side effects. The first unit dose will be administered at arrival at the PACU when a Visual Analogue Pain (VAS) score of more than 3 is reached. The second and third unit dose will be administered after 1 and 2 hours, respectively, when a VAS of more than 3 is observed.
The aim of this study is to investigate the accuracy, safety and robustness of a single-input-single output (SISO) model-based predictive closed-loop system to guide patient-individualized ICU sedation.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the safety and tolerability of perampanel (up to 12 mg/day) given as adjunctive treatment in subjects with refractory partial seizures and to evaluate the maintenance of effect of perampanel for the control of refractory partial seizures.
