NCT ID: NCT00735215 Completed - Clinical trials for Metastatic Breast Cancer

Faslodex Registry: Fulvestrant in Current Clinical Practice

Start date: October 2008
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

The sequential administration of endocrine therapies to patients with advanced breast cancer requires the availability of therapies with different modes of actions, so that tumours developing resistance to one agent are not cross resistant to another. Because of its mechanism of action, fulvestrant is distinct from other hormonal therapies, which therefore limits the possibility of cross-resistance with other therapies such as tamoxifen and the aromatase inhibitors (AIs) - In this way, patients may benefit from an extended period of endocrine treatment, which has considerable tolerability and quality-of-life advantages over cytotoxic chemotherapy. - In Belgium, fulvestrant is indicated for treating postmenopausal women with hormone receptor-positive locally advanced or metastatic breast cancer with recurrence during or after adjuvant anti-oestrogen therapy or disease progression during anti-oestrogen treatment. However, little information is currently available on how fulvestrant is actually being used by physicians in Belgium. The optimum sequence of endocrine treatment for advanced breast cancer has yet to be defined and may depend on certain patient or disease characteristics. Fulvestrant has been granted reimbursement by the Belgian Health authorities (RIZIV/INAMI) with the recommendation to collect the real life data necessary to assess the patients' breast cancer treatment history that may influence the actual endocrine treatment sequence according to physicians current clinical practice..

NCT ID: NCT00735059 Completed - Clinical trials for Chronic Kidney Disease

Test of the Nipro ELISIO H Dialyzer in Different Dialysis Treatment Procedures

Start date: August 2008
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

A current trend in dialysis membrane engineering is to maximize the permeability for larger low-molecular weight proteins while retaining albumin. Protein-leaking dialysis membranes do not meet these requirements. Particularly in convective procedures, such as hemodiafiltration, their albumin leakage is too high [10]. POLYNEPHRON™, the membrane which is built in to the new Nipro ELISIO® dialyzer, is a new dialysis membrane, produced by applying an innovative spinning technique. The incentive of its development was to improve the characteristics of existing dialysis membranes, i.e., realizing a steeper sieving profile for low-molecular weight proteins without significant loss of essential larger proteins at best biocompatibility properties, for a more adequate dialysis therapy. Purpose of the planned study is to demonstrate the superior performance at lower albumin loss in different dialysis procedures of the new Nipro ELISIO® dialyzer compared with a control dialyzer with regard to the removal of the whole range of uremic toxins.

NCT ID: NCT00734591 Completed - Diabetes Mellitus Clinical Trials

Follow-Up Study for Exubera

FUSE
Start date: August 2008
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

In studies of Exubera in persons with diabetes, lung cancer occurred in a few more people who were taking Exubera than in people who were taking other diabetes medicines. All subjects diagnosed with lung cancer had a history of smoking and the number of lung cancer cases observed fell within the expected range based on population-based data. There is currently not enough information to determine if any of the observed lung cancer cases were related to Exubera use, therefore, the study is being conducted to further investigate whether Exubera use makes the appearance of lung cancer more likely.

NCT ID: NCT00733668 Completed - Clinical trials for Major Depressive Disorder

Efficacy of SEROQUEL in Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRI)-Resistant Major Depressive Disorder

UNIQUE
Start date: March 2006
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

An open-label, non-comparative, multi-centre, phase II prospective trial to assess the efficacy of Quetiapine fumarate augmentation of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) in SSRI-resistant major depressive disorder.

NCT ID: NCT00732615 Completed - Hypoparathyroidism Clinical Trials

Use of NPSP558 in the Treatment of Hypoparathyroidism

REPLACE
Start date: December 18, 2008
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

Use of PTH (1-84) a recombinant hormone in escalating doses for the treatment of adults with hypoparathyroidism. The use of PTH should result in a decrease of calcium and vitamin D supplements.

NCT ID: NCT00731692 Completed - Clinical trials for Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis

FTY720 in Patients With Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis

INFORMS
Start date: July 2008
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to evaluate whether FTY720 is effective in delaying MS disability progression compared to placebo in patients with PPMS.

NCT ID: NCT00731549 Completed - Schizophrenia Clinical Trials

Intramuscular Depot Formulation of Aripiprazole as Maintenance Treatment in Patients With Schizophrenia

ASPIRE
Start date: December 2008
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

To evaluate the overall effectiveness of aripiprazole intramuscular (IM) depot as maintenance treatment in patients with schizophrenia.

NCT ID: NCT00730925 Completed - Clinical trials for Carcinoma, Non-Small-Cell Lung

Single-arm Trial of BIBW 2992 (Afatinib) in Demographically and Genotypically Selected NSCLC Patients

Start date: June 2008
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The primary objective of this open-label, single arm Phase II trial is to explore the efficacy of BIBW 2992 defined by the objective response rate (CR, PR) as determined by the RECIST criteria, in patients with advanced NSCLC Stage IIIB or IV whose tumours harbour activating mutations within exon 18 to exon 21 of the EGFR receptor, in patients with mutations in the HER2/neu receptor and in patients with EGFR FISH positive tumours with no EGFR mutations.

NCT ID: NCT00729872 Completed - Clinical trials for Moderately Active Ulcerative Colitis

A Phase 2a Study to Evaluate the Safety, Tolerability, Pharmacodynamics and Efficacy of AG011 in Ulcerative Colitis

Start date: July 2008
Phase: Phase 1/Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to verify the safety and tolerability of AG011 (genetically modified L. lactis that has been engineered to secrete human Interleukin-10), and to determine whether AG011 can successfully treat the symptoms of moderately active Ulcerative Colitis (UC).

NCT ID: NCT00729703 Completed - Tachycardia Clinical Trials

Optimal Anti-tachycardia Therapy in Implantable Cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) Patients Without Pacing Indications

OPTION
Start date: June 2006
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

This study evaluates the impact of a new pacing mode avoiding unnecessary ventricular stimulation in combination with advanced dual chamber detection with slow VT management on the clinical outcome for hospitalization and mortality and inadequate therapy in medically stable, ICD-indicated patients with impaired left ventricular function (LVEF ≤ 40%) who do not have pacing indications and no indication for Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy (CRT). It compares a new pacing mode avoiding ventricular stimulation when not needed combined with dual chamber detection with a pure ventricular back up pacing and single chamber detection criteria with pure ventricular back up pacing. Therapies are compared in a prospective, randomized, single-blinded, parallel trial with a 24-month randomized treatment period. Randomization follows a 1:1 ratio. ICD therapy is enabled for all patients throughout the study. All patients receive optimal drug therapy for arrhythmia and heart failure treatment.
