Risk Factors for Advanced Fibrosis Among FLD Patients

The investigators investigate the heterogeneity fatty liver disease (FLD) as well as risk factors associated with progression of the liver diseases or development of cardiovascular complication. The overarching aim is to develop a AI-based prediction model that could be integrated into the electronic medical record system. To identify large numbers of unselected individuals with FLD, the investigators developed a phrase recognition algorithm, which identifies FLD using radiology reports. Within the data lake of Helsinki University Hospital, they identified a large number of individuals with or without FLD. The investigators will now randomly invite 1000-1500 individuals with FLD to a follow-up study including investigation of metabolism and progression of liver disease (elastography, blood tests) as well as gathering life-style information. Register data on previous diagnoses and medication will be used to evaluate cardiovascular disease.

Only subjects previously enrolled in protocol ADT2002 (ClinicalTrials.gov ID: NCT04179760) will be eligible for this long-term follow-up protocol.

Deuterium Metabolic Imaging to Assess Radiotherapy Changes in Glioblastoma Multiforme

This is a feasibility single arm study designed for obtaining early data for optimization and evaluation of the clinical potential for a new MR technique using deuterated glucose. The purpose of the study is to investigate whether this technique is useful in metabolic imaging of glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) and whether radiochemotherapy (RCT) induced changes in the brain metabolism can be detected and might be predictive for treatment response. The study will include 10 patients with histologically verified GBM scheduled for standard RCT. Patients will have MRI scan performed before and within 8 weeks after starting RCT. The scans will include imaging after oral intake of deuterated glucose, so called deuterium metabolic imaging (DMI). Based on this study, the most optimal scanning technique, output variables of highest discriminative power with respect to RCT, and potential predictive markers for response will be selected for further clinical investigation.

Critical Periods After Stroke Study (CPASS)

To perform an exploratory single center randomized study that will form the basis for a larger scale, more definitive randomized clinical trial to determine the optimal time after stroke for intensive motor training. The investigators will perform a prospective exploratory study of upper extremity (UE) motor training delivered at higher than usual intensity at three different time points after stroke: - early (initiated within 30 days) - subacute/outpatient (initiated within 2-3 months) - chronic (initiated within 6-9 months) The control group will not receive the therapy intervention during the 1-year study. Outcome measures will be assessed at baseline, pre-treatment, post-treatment, 6 months and one year after stroke onset. Compared to individuals randomized during the outpatient (2-3 months after stroke onset) or chronic (6-9 months after stroke onset) time points, participants randomized to early intensive motor training will show greater upper extremity motor improvement measured at one year post stroke.
