NCT ID: NCT04409795 Enrolling by invitation - Type 1 Diabetes Clinical Trials

Oral Hypoglycemic Therapy for Monogenic Variant Carriers of the Joslin Medalist Study

Start date: August 26, 2021
Phase: Phase 2/Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of adding oral hypoglycemic agents (OHA) to existing insulin treatment in monogenic variant carriers of the Joslin 50-Year Medalist Study ("Medalists"), who are characterized by ≥50 years of insulin-dependent diabetes. Our primary objective is to evaluate whether the presence of human leukocyte antigen (HLA) high-risk alleles for diabetes (DR3 and/or DR4) can affect the effectiveness of OHA in these subjects.

NCT ID: NCT05147103 Enrolling by invitation - Clinical trials for Development of LIFU for Clinical Purposes

Investigation of the Duration of Low-intensity Focused Ultrasound

Start date: August 26, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This project examines the effects of various durations of noninvasive neuromodulation on muscle contractions. The investigators believe this study will help to better understand noninvasive brain stimulation techniques that may have the potential to aid in addiction, pain, and mental health issues. Participants undergo structural imaging, a functional Magnetic Resonance Image (fMRI) and computed tomography (CT). These images are used to align the low-intensity focused ultrasound (LIFU) and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) devices to temporarily change brain activity. Electromyography (EMG) will be used to record muscle contractions of the hand.

NCT ID: NCT05521217 Enrolling by invitation - Clinical trials for Spinal Muscular Atrophy

Myotonometer Intra- and Inter Examiner Reliability on Spinal Muscular Atrophy

Start date: August 26, 2022
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The primary aim of the study was to measure the intra-rater and inter-rater reliability of MyotonPRO in measuring postural muscle tone and mechanical properties in individuals with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA). The secondary aim is to question the existence of a relationship between the functional levels of individuals with SMA and their muscle tone and biomechanical properties. It is assumed that the outputs to be obtained from this research will form the norm data for moyotonometer evaluation in children with SMA.

NCT ID: NCT03703661 Enrolling by invitation - Clinical trials for Surgical Site Infection

Needle-Aspirated Compression Dressing Following Ostomy Reversal

Start date: August 27, 2017
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

Negative pressure wound dressings have been studied and shown to have applications in decreasing rates of surgical wound infections. This study studies the effect of a low cost needle-aspirated negative pressure compression dressing on rates of wound infection at prior ostomy site in patients undergoing ostomy reversal surgery.

NCT ID: NCT04189822 Enrolling by invitation - Clinical trials for Sudden Cardiac Arrest

Hearts in Rhythm Organization (HiRO)National Registry and Bio Bank

HiRO
Start date: August 27, 2019
Phase:
Study type: Observational [Patient Registry]

The Hearts in Rhythm Organization (HiRO) is a national network of Canadian researchers/clinicians, working towards a better understanding of the rare genetic causes of sudden cardiac death (SCD). Canadian adult and pediatric electrophysiology centres across Canada work together to gather data and bio sample in a national data registry and bio bank hoping to improve the detection and treatment of inherited heart rhythm disorders to prevent sudden death.

NCT ID: NCT04483973 Enrolling by invitation - Covid19 Clinical Trials

SPI-1005 Treatment in Severe COVID-19 Patients

Start date: August 27, 2021
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The study is a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, dose escalation, multi-center clinical trial (RCT) of SPI-1005 in adult subjects with positive PCR test for novel SARS-CoV-2 (nCoV2) and severe symptoms of COVID-19 disease.

NCT ID: NCT04966169 Enrolling by invitation - Clinical trials for Apical Periodontitis

Effectiveness of GentleWave on the Healing of Apical Periodontitis: A Prospective Cohort Study

Start date: August 27, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this 12-month prospective cohort study is to evaluate post-operatory pain, patient satisfaction, and treatment outcomes (i.e., healing) when the newly-developed, 510k FDA-approved multisonic energy GentleWAve System (Sonendo, Inc., Laguna Hills, CA) is used in complex root canal procedures.

NCT ID: NCT05057338 Enrolling by invitation - Multiple Sclerosis Clinical Trials

Functions, Physical Activity and Employment for Individuals With MS: A Pilot Feasibility Study

CoreDISTp
Start date: August 27, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a chronic disease affecting young adults. Impaired balance, walking, reduced physical activity and participation in employment are common, however, less integrated in the health care. The researchers have developed a multidisciplinary intervention and pathway delivered across health care levels targeting the promotion of balance, walking, physical activity and participation in employment. The research team will perform a pilot feasibility Randomized Controlled Trial (RCT) and interviews to investigate the feasibility of the new intervention compared to a standard care for individuals with lower levels of disability.

NCT ID: NCT06105840 Enrolling by invitation - Clinical trials for Osteoarthritis, Knee

Combination of Curcuminoid With Acupressure for Inflammation and Pain in the Elderly With Osteoarthritis Genu

Start date: August 27, 2023
Phase: Phase 1/Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The goal of this clinical trial is to to investigate the efficacy of acupressure and standardized curcuminoids from turmeric extract to inflammatory markers, endorphin hormones in the blood and quality of life in elderly patient with Osteoarthritis Genu. The main questions it aims to answer are: 1. Is there any effect combination of acupressure and standardized curcuminoids from turmeric extract to inflammatory markers in elderly patients with Osteoarthritis Genu? 2. Is there any effect combination of acupressure and standardized curcuminoids from turmeric extract to endorphin hormones in the blood in elderly patients with Osteoarthritis Genu? 3. Is there an effect combination of acupressure and standardized curcuminoids from turmeric extract to quality of life in elderly patients with Osteoarthritis Genu? Participants in the intervention group received 2 treatments, namely acupressure at points that provide osteoarthritis-specific comfort and standardized curcuminoids from turmeric extract capsules. Participant in the control group alo would receive 2 treatments, an active placebo (starch capsules and sham acupressure). Researchers will compare interventional group and sham group to see efficacy the combination therapy
