The primary aim of this study is to test the hypothesis that use of VR combined with standard procedural education will result in less pre-procedural anxiety than standard procedural education alone among patients undergoing first-time cardiac catheterization. The VR technology being evaluated in this study will allow patients to experience a 3-D simulation of certain aspects of their upcoming procedure prior to the actual procedure date.

Diet Treatment Glucose Transporter Type 1 Deficiency (G1D)

Forty-five subjects receiving no dietary therapy with a proven G1D diagnosis will be enrolled. To evaluate the effect of C7 supplementation of a regular diet on a EEG activity in addition to IQ, language, working memory, processing speed, emotional and behavioral functioning, ataxia, and other neuropsychological and neurological performance indices in children and adults genetically diagnosed with G1D receiving a regular diet at enrollment.

Pevonedistat, Cytarabine, and Idarubicin in Treating Patients With Acute Myeloid Leukemia

This phase Ib/II trial studies the side effects and best dose of pevonedistat and to see how well it works in combination with cytarabine and idarubicin in treating patients with acute myeloid leukemia. Pevonedistat may stop the growth of cancer cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as cytarabine and idarubicin, work in different ways to stop the growth of cancer cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Given pevonedistat, cytarabine, and idarubicin may work better in treating patients with acute myeloid leukemia.

Plasmatic Factor V as a Predictor of Graft Dysfunction After Liver Transplantation

Factor V is a coagulation cofactor that is primarily produced by the liver. Previous data has suggested a correlation between factor V levels and graft dysfunction. The investigators hypothesize that Factor V may be a reliable biomarker for hepatic function after LT. Therefore, the aim of this study is to validate the use of Factor V as a predictor of graft dysfunction after LT. This is a single-center prospective validation study. Patients undergoing LT at the University Health Network will have plasmatic Factor V levels measured during postoperative week 1. Patients will be followed up to 12 months. The study outcomes will be early graft dysfunction, and graft and patient survival. Graft loss will be defined as need for retransplantation in the study period.
