NCT ID: NCT06378762 Active, not recruiting - Exercise Clinical Trials

Interference of Endurance Training on Strength Development and Neuromuscular Adaptations

Start date: April 1, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study aims to find out if performing combined strength and endurance exercise in the same program (called concurrent training-CT) leads to similar long-term improvements in neuromuscular function as doing each type of exercise separately. The main questions it seeks to answer are: Does performing CT result in similar improvements in strength and power as doing just strength training? Does performing CT result in similar improvements in cardiorespiratory fitness as doing just endurance training? Are neuromuscular adaptations similar between CT and just strength training? Researchers will compare the results between three groups: the CT group, the endurance training group (E), and the strength training group (S) to answer these questions.

NCT ID: NCT05455476 Active, not recruiting - Chronic Pain Clinical Trials

Pain and Loneliness

Start date: April 1, 2023
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

Loneliness-feeling socially isolated-is a stressor that is associated with chronic pain. The investigators will first conduct a small trial of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Loneliness (CBT-L)in Veterans with chronic pain reporting loneliness. After completing this small trial, the investigators will randomize-like a flip of a coin-a total of 40 participants to receive either CBT-L or CBT for Chronic Pain. The investigators will assess loneliness, the quality and quantity of social interactions, and pain outcomes such as pain-related interference, and thinking the worst about one's pain at baseline and after the treatment period. The investigators will also track participant flow, therapist adherence to the manual, participant homework completion, and participant satisfaction with the treatment.

NCT ID: NCT05700383 Active, not recruiting - Chronic Pain Clinical Trials

The Thrive Study: Improving Multimodal Physical Function in Adults With Heterogenous Chronic Pain

Start date: April 1, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The investigators aim to conduct a randomized controlled trial to test the feasibility of a mind-body walking program compared to a health education program for individuals with chronic musculoskeletal pain. The investigators will assess the feasibility of recruitment procedures (enrollment, recruitment of racial and ethnic minorities) and intervention delivery (fidelity, adherence, credibility, satisfaction, optimization), following pre-specified benchmarks. Both programs will be delivered in-person.

NCT ID: NCT05762263 Active, not recruiting - Blood Pressure Clinical Trials

The Effect of Flexitarian, Time-restricted Eating on Cardiometabolic Traits in Normal Weight, Young Men

FlexiFast
Start date: April 1, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The goal of this factorial randomized controlled trial is to find out whether time-restricted eating and flexitarian diet (on its own and combined) can improve cardiometabolic health markers in normal weight, young men with metabolic abnormalities? Participants will be assigned to four groups: control, flexitarian, time-restricted eating and time-restricted eating + flexitarian. Investigators will look for men with elevated fasting blood glucose or blood lipids level or blood pressure and with normal body weight and waistline. Participants from the flexitarian group will be asked to follow a diet that has been carefully designed for them by the PI and dietitian for the period of 8 weeks. Participants from the control group will receive general healthy eating recommendations. We aim to investigate if the experiment had any effect on changes in metabolic, inflammation and nutritional markers, blood pressure and body weight and composition. Also, the effect of diets on men's sleep, general wellbeing and satisfaction with treatment will be investigated. The proposed study can test a potentially effective nutritional intervention which is feasible to adopt and sustainable (in line with recent planetary diet recommendations). Confirming its effectiveness can fill the research gap, providing new knowledge and approach to the prevention and treatment of metabolic abnormalities in young, lean men.

NCT ID: NCT05774990 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

Study Protocol: Study on Incidence and Risk Factors of Mold Infections in Children During Leukemia Treatment

Start date: April 1, 2023
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The study aims to evaluate the occurrence, mortality, and risk factors for invasive mold infections (IMI) in children treated with chemotherapy for acute leukemia in Denmark. The study will be a retrospective nationwide survey study of all children who received first-line chemotherapy for acute leukemia from 2008 to 2022 in Danish pediatric oncology units. The study population will include approximately 800 children under the age of 18. Data will be collected from medical records, hospital databases, and national databases. When the IMI subgroup has been identified, this will be compared to the leukemic group that did not develop IMI. Statistical analysis can then determine the occurrence, mortality rate, and possible IMI risk factors.

NCT ID: NCT05782946 Active, not recruiting - Smoking and POCD Clinical Trials

The Effect of Heavy Smoking on Early Post Operative Cognitive Dysfunction in Senile Patients .

Start date: April 1, 2023
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Cognitive dysfunction is the impairment of mental process of perception, memory and information processing which allow the human to acquire knowledge and plan for the future . The etiology of Postoperative cognitive dysfunction (POCD) is unclear and seems to be multifactorial involving a combination of patient, surgical, anesthetic and environmental factors .It can be a manifestation of transient or permanent cerebral injury. While cognitive function tends to improve over months to years postoperatively in affected individuals, some proportion has seemingly permanent cognitive injury .
