The b2AR gene is located on chromosome 5q31-q32, a region that is genetically linked to asthma and related phenotypes. There are three best known polymorphisms in the coding region of the b2AR gene that can modulate the function of the receptor.

First Years Away From Home: Letting Go and Staying Connected

Alcohol abuse is the leading cause of death and serious injury among college students, and students also experience significant harms from other types of substance misuse and risk behaviors. The proposed project is a randomized controlled trials that will test the protective effects of Letting Go and Staying Connected, a handbook for parents of students who are transitioning for the first time from home to college, the time when students are at greatest risk. The handbook encourages parent skill development and good management of their student's new independence, providing a clear framework to guide them in parenting at this stage. Targeted outcomes include reduction of substance use and risk behaviors. The primary hypothesis is that students who are in one of the two handbook conditions with their parents will report lower substance use and risk behaviors in the two years after college entry.

The investigators plan to collect data on speed of recovery (how quickly pain improves, length of time in the hospital, and the need for additional pain control) on patients who receive care under the ERAS protocol and compare it to historical controls.

Randomized Study of Elective Regional Lymph Node Irradiation in N1 Breast Cancer

This study evaluates the impact of elective regional lymph node irradiation on N1 breast cancer patients receiving post-lumpectomy radiotherapy and anthracycline plus taxane (AT)-based chemotherapy. We randomly assign patients having one to three metastatic lymph nodes (pN1) after breast-conserving surgery (BCS) and AT-based chemotherapy to undergo either whole-breast and regional nodal irradiation (WB+RNI group) or whole-breast irradiation alone (WBI group).
