There are more than 498,563 clinical trials published worldwide with over 60,000 trials that are currently either recruiting or not yet recruiting. Use our filters on this page to find more information on current clinical trials or past clinical trials (free or paid) for study purposes and read about their results.
The purpose of the study is to investigate whether there is an interaction occurs between etoposide and aprepitant in patients with testis carcinoma treated with the standard BEP regimen. Also to determine how long treatment with aprepitant is necessary in BEP regimen for 5 consecutive days.
The main purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of two different group-based exercise programs on fall risk (muscular strength and balance) and bone strength in older women aged over 65-75 years who have low bone mass. We are also trying to determine if once a week exercise is as effective on health outcomes as twice a week. We hypothesize that twice a week exercise will be more effective than once a week or sham exercise.
RATIONALE: Diagnostic procedures, such as MRI, may help doctors learn how efaproxiral works in the brain and help plan the best treatment. PURPOSE: This clinical trial is using MRI to evaluate the effect of efaproxiral on the brain in patients with recurrent or progressive glioma receiving treatment on clinical trial NABTT-9806.
The present study aims to compare the pre-emptive analgesic efficacy of parecoxib 40 mg IV/IM versus placebo on reducing postoperative acute pain following submuscular breast augmentation. Additionally this study is being conducted to evaluate the safety and tolerability of parecoxib in this kind of procedure.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of PROCRIT (Epoetin alfa) 80,000 Units given once weekly or 80,000 Units given once every two weeks in anemic patients with Low- or Intermediate-1 risk Myelodysplastic Syndromes (MDS).
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of an investigational vaccine (TG4040) to prevent hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. The primary goal of this study is to determine the safety of increasing doses of TG4040 versus placebo (an inactive substance) in subjects chronically infected with HCV. Approximately 85 patients, ages 18-65 years, with chronic HCV infection will be enrolled in this study at two sites, Saint Louis University and Cincinnati Children's Hospital. Volunteers will receive doses of TG4040 and placebo by injections into the thigh on different days, depending on which study group they belong to. Safety will be checked before doses are increased, and each participant will receive the study vaccine, TG4040, at some point during the study. Each subject will participate in the study for 8 months. This study may help produce a new vaccine that would improve control of HCV.
To assess the preliminary safety and tolerability of multiple oral doses of BIIB014 in subjects with early PD.
Hyperglycaemic emergencies are associated with significant mortality (mortality in Diabetic Ketoacidosis 0.65 - 3.3% and in HyperOsmolar Non-Ketotic Coma 12 -17%). To reduce morbidity and mortality, prompt intervention and coma and close monitoring are essential. The study is designed to investigate whether a simple intervention with a long acting insulin can improve resolution of acidosis and hyperglycaemia, prevent recurrence of ketoacidosis and shorten hospital stay.
A Pilot Study Evaluating Minimized Time to Beam Hypofractionated IMRT with PET Assisted Target Definition in Patients with High Grade Gliomas The aim of this pilot project is to explore the feasibility of combining a simple conformal plan (Phase I) with an IMRT treatment approach (Phase II) for high grade glioma patients with the aim of starting the RT as soon as possible following the patient's first outpatient visit (thus, minimized 'time to beam'). It is hoped that the rapid treatment start with the initial 3D CRT plan will lessen clinical deterioration due to the growth of these aggressive tumours. The use of Linac-based IMRT in Phase II of the patient's treatment plan will maintain the benefit of the sophistication of IMRT. Using novel PET imaging we also hope to better characterize regions of glioma cells thus producing more optimized planning target volumes (PTVs) for each patient and decreasing the volume of normal brain irradiated with the aim of minimizing radiation toxicities. Hopefully this planning and treatment approach will provide an improvement in the quality of life and outcome for high grade glioma patients.
Iron deficiency anemia (IDA) is a major health problem in children, effecting up to 20% of young children. Helicobacter pylori (HP) infection is also reported to be prevalent in children. Several large epidemiologic studies support an association between HP infection and lower iron stores. Other small studies suggest improvement in anemia following HP treatment. We assume that the prevalence of HP infection in Israeli children diagnosed with IDA is high and that that adding therapy for HP in those children will improve the response to iron deficiency.
