Filter by:The implementation of liquid biopsy in clinical practice has been favored by the rapid development of genome sequencing techniques designed to analyze mutations in ctDNA. Among these, the Next generation sequencing (NGS) is a technique that consists in sequencing several genomes in a short time span, collecting information about a wider range of genomic alterations, using small quantities of genetic material. It is used to identify potential circulating dynamic biomarkers of treatment sensitivity or resistance in a real word multi-pathology evaluation. In this way, defining the mutational status of clinical relevance genes in real world, as a predictive biomarker to identify those patients most likely to benefit from target therapy, offers the potential to optimize access to further therapies. The aim of this study is to evaluate the real-world prevalence of clinically useful mutations in patients who are receiving therapy for advanced and locally advanced solid tumor through liquid biopsy.
The goal of this clinical trial is to explore feasibility, acceptability, and effectiveness of end-of-life conversation game "Hello" as a tool to help individuals with breast, lung, and/or genito-urinary cancers treated at Penn State Cancer Institute and their loved ones perform advance care planning. The main questions it aims to answer are: - What modifications and/or adaptations are necessary to Hello for use in cancer populations? - How do different delivery models compare for recruitment in terms of feasibility and efficiency? Participants will: - Complete pre-game questionnaires - Play the Hello game - Complete post-game questionnaires - Participate in a focus group
Investigator propose the first French randomized comparative study to assess the efficacy of a remotely supervised online cognitive stimulation program, compared to an unsupervised online cognitive exercise intervention, in reducing cognitive complaints in localized breast cancer patients after adjuvant chemotherapy. Previous randomized studies have confirmed the effectiveness of online cognitive stimulation programs compared to standard care. The study seeks to determine the added value of remote supervision by a neuropsychologist. The control group will have access to the same online cognitive exercises as the experimental group but without supervision. Investigator has chosen not to include a wait-list group as it would be unethical to deny patients with cognitive complaints the opportunity to participate in an intervention expected to benefit them. The secondary objective is to evaluate the benefit of the supervised digitalized cognitive intervention on objective cognitive impairment. The research hypothesis is that incorporating personalized remote support with supervision from a neuropsychologist into a digitalized cognitive stimulation program will reinforce the effectiveness of the intervention on cognitive complaints. This will be achieved by improving participation/adherence to the online cognitive stimulation program, as well as through the personalized supervision itself. Investigator believe that the supervision sessions, including educational components, will enable patients to identify their strengths, promote their cognitive awareness, and develop individualized strategies to apply their compensatory abilities in real-life situations. Since cognitive difficulties have multiple underlying causes, reducing these symptoms requires a multifaceted approach. The hypothesis is that combining cognitive training (which increases neuroplasticity and directly targets the cognitive domains affected by cancer and its treatments), with structured supervised educational sessions based on compensatory strategies, will yield better outcomes than online cognitive stimulation alone.
The prognosis of young patients with breast cancer is relatively poor. Chemotherapy damages ovarian function. Endocrine treatment for up to 10 years delays the childbearing time of patients. Treatment regimens in young breast cancer patients are still controversial in the following: 1. Exemption from chemotherapy based on gene prediction results; 2. Removing drugs that damage ovarian function from chemotherapy regimens; 3. Giving ovarian protection drugs during chemotherapy for patients with hormone receptor (HR)+; 4. The right time to get pregnant. In view of the above problems, the treatment scheme recommended in the guidelines cannot meet the personalized needs of young breast cancer patients. The project plans to establish a prognosis model for young patients with breast cancer, and provide the patients hierarchical and refined management, which is significant for prolonging survival time, improving quality of life, and protecting fertility. This project plans to observe the relationship between the characteristics of immune genes, pathological staging, molecular typing, treatment plans and prognosis in the cohort of young breast cancer patients, and establish a young breast cancer prognosis model and verify it. The project is expected to establish a prognosis model and provide a hierarchical and personalized precision treatment plan for young breast cancer patients, so as to prolong the survival time, improve the fertility rate, and improve the quality of life.
The goal of this clinical trial is to learn about breast cancer lipodome signature in patients waiting for surgery with different Body Mass Index. The main question it aims to answer are: - To highlight a specific lipidome molecular signature for breast cancer patients overweight and obese (BMI > 25 Kg/m2) compared with patients of normal weight (BMI<25 kg/m2). - Evaluate the effect of the pool of biochemical, nutritional and anatomical-pathological data of breast cancer patients and the correlation between molecular profile and body weight.
Breast cancer is a significant issue in Egypt, affecting a large number of women and impacting their psychological well-being. Younger patients and those undergoing adjuvant therapy or radiotherapy are particularly susceptible to psychological distress. Psychological counseling and support groups can help improve patients' quality of life and social functioning. Hope plays a crucial role in the treatment process, as it is associated with positive outcomes and serves as a protective mechanism against stress and disease. Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is an intervention that can reduce stress and depression in cancer patients. It involves cultivating awareness of the present moment and has positive effects on quality of life. Investigating the impact of MBSR on psychological distress and hope in women undergoing radiotherapy for breast cancer is important for providing effective support during treatment. The aim of this study is to: Examine the effect of the Mindfulness-Based Stress reduction intervention on psychological distress and hope among female patients undergoing radiotherapy for breast cancer. RESEARCH HYPOTHESIS Female patients undergoing radiotherapy for breast cancer who attend Mindfulness-Based Stress reduction intervention sessions exhibit higher levels of hope and lower levels of psychological distress compared to those who receive conventional hospital treatment.
Breast cancer is, in term of incidence, the first cancer among women in France and worldwide. This incidence is increasing, particularly among young women during their professional activity. Those observations raise de question of return to work of those patients, and, broadly, of the post cancer life and former activities recovery. The objective of the study is to identify any factor influencing time from diagnosis to return to work (type of treatment, side effects, residual symptoms, medical staff support, occupational physician monitoring, individual or group supportive therapy, adapted physical activity, alternative therapeutics ..), and the main modalities of return to work (part or full time, professional redeployment). To identify those factors, barriers or supports, would enable the implementation of concrete actions and programs, promoting return to work, and to a free disease life for those patients. The main objective is to identify psycho social factors involved in the time from diagnosis to return to any modality of work, until 24 month after localized breast cancer care, in Grenoble University Hospital (Michalon and Voiron included) Secondary objectives are to identify psycho social factors involved in the time from diagnosis to return to work, part time, full time, and redeployment, respectively, until 24 month after localized breast cancer care, in Grenoble University Hospital (Michalon and Voiron included)
This prospective, observational study will evaluate the patient-based sentinel lymph node detection rate when using the Infracyanine® (indocyanine green) dye technique in patients undergoing surgery for breast cancer. The study will describe the demographic, clinical, and tumour characteristics of patients with breast cancer undergoing surgery. The study will describe the characteristics of how the indocyanine green dye technique is used including the dose and volume of dye used, the number and type of injection sites used to give the dye, the equipment used to detect the dye and locate the sentinel lymph node, and whether indocyanine green is used on its own or with other dyes (blue dye and/or 99mTechnetium dye). The study will evaluate the characteristics of sentinel lymph node biopsy procedures performed using indocyanine green dye including the number of biopsies performed, the time taken to detect the sentinel lymph node and perform the biopsy, and how many sentinel lymph nodes are detected using indocyanine green dye, blue dye, and 99mTechnetium dye. The study will also assess the safety of using indocyanine green dye for 6 weeks following surgery.
The purpose of this study to find out whether an intensive approach to treating high blood pressure during breast cancer treatment is safe and more effective than standard blood pressure treatment at lowering blood pressure levels and the risk of cardiotoxicity in patients with cancer. Other studies have shown lowering blood pressure improves the health of patients. However, these studies have not included people with cancer. The PROTECT trial is testing a treatment strategy regarding intensive versus standard SBP goals, and is not testing specific medications.
Objective: In this study, it was aimed to determine the effects of health education provided by two different methods on breast cancer and mammography knowledge self-evaluation status, perceived mammography benefit and barrier levels, mammography self-efficacy levels and mammography screening of women aged 40-69 years. Materials and Methods: The study was conducted in a parallel group design as a single-blind randomized controlled trial. The sample consisted of 126 healthy volunteers, 42 in each group, who were registered to Toprakkale Family Health Center between January and July 2023, met the inclusion criteria. In the study, 10-unit Visual Analogue Scale, mammography benefit and obstacle perception sub-dimension of Champion's Health Belief Model Scale and Mammography Self-Efficacy Scale were used for self-assessment of breast cancer and mammography knowledge. In the study, while the control group received standard care, the face-to-face education group was given health education and brochures through home visits, and a reminder interview was made over the phone. Health education and digital brochures were given to the online training group via video call, and a reminder meeting was held once. After a two-month follow-up, One-Way Analysis of Variance and Kruskal Wallis H test were used to compare the data of the three groups, multiple comparisons were analyzed with Tukey's test and Dunn's test. Generalized Linear Models were used for group and time comparisons.
