F-Tryptophan PET/CT in Human Cancers

The purpose is to see if there can be a better differentiation of tumor and non-tumor tissue where the tumor tissue has a higher uptake of Tryptophan.

A Phase II Trial of Camrelizumab in Combination With Apatinib for Neoadjuvant Treatment of Early-stage TNBC With a High Proportion of TILs

This is a phase II, open-labeled, multi-centered, single-arm, investigator-initiated clinical trial of camrelizumab (an anti-PD-1 antibody) in combination with apatinib (a VEGFR2 TKI) for neoadjuvant treatment of patients with triple-negative breast cancer and >10% tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) in baseline breast tumors. We will enroll 58 subjects (Simon's two stage design). The study is designed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of camrelizumab in combination with apatinib in the neoadjuvant treatment of TNBC with a high proportion of TILs.

Tranexamic Acid Usage in Bilateral Mastectomy to Reduce Post-surgical Drainage

Tranexamic acid (TxA) is a drug that was approved by the FDA in 1986. It is an antifibrinolytic drug - this means that it is used to promote blood clotting by preventing the breakdown of blood clots that the participant's body naturally forms. TxA is very commonly used to control bleeding in a variety of surgeries, such as orthopedic and gynecologic procedures, and is available in both the injectable (delivering the drug through the veins) and oral forms. However, its use is still not commonplace in the setting of elective breast surgery, because it hasn't been extensively studied in this field. Because it is not currently FDA-approved for use in elective breast surgery, this would make the drug "investigational" for this study. Because of its current use in other fields, TxA seems to have a great deal of potential in reducing the amount of post-operative time that breast drains need to be kept in place, the frequency of adverse events during wound healing such as bleeding and fluid accumulation, and overall fluid drainage amount. This would serve to improve the overall process of post-operative healing following a mastectomy procedure. Currently, the use of TxA is approved through the injectable route at Northwestern, but it is not approved for administration by the topical route. Previous studies have shown that TxA given through the topical route of administration in breast reduction surgery reduced post-surgical drainage and fluid accumulation. In this study, the use of 3% (3 grams of TxA in 100 ml of saline) TxA through the topical route by applying it to the breast wound of one breast as a direct fluid irrigation will be investigated. This will be done as a fluid wash, where the TxA will be in a syringe, and just before wound closure the TxA will be sprayed onto the wound site. The other breast will undergo the same procedure, but will receive normal saline solution instead of TxA. The procedure of interest here is a prophylactic bilateral mastectomy, which is a mastectomy that is performed to prevent the occurrence of breast cancer. The purpose of this study is to test whether applying TxA topically during wound closure in mastectomy procedures will affect the quantity of fluid accumulation and bleeding, and the amount of time that post-operative drains need to be kept in place.

E-Health Support Program (PACK Health Program) in Supporting Patient Reported Symptoms in Newly Diagnosed Patients With Breast Cancer

This trial studies how well an electronic (e)-health support program, called the PACK Health Program, supports patient reported symptoms in newly diagnosed patients with breast cancer. PACK Health offers a symptom management program involving both interpersonal interaction, as well as e-modules for patients diagnosed with cancer to better manage pain, fatigue, depression, anxiety, and to navigate care more effectively through e-health coaching and tools. Participating in the PACK Health Program may support breast cancer patients' reported side effects and experience of care during chemotherapy treatment and may ultimately improve overall health.

TACTIVE-U: A Study to Learn About the Study Medicine (Vepdegestrant) When Given With Other Medicines in People With Advanced or Metastatic Breast Cancer (Sub-Study A)

The purpose of this clinical trial is to learn about the safety and effects of the study medicine (called ARV-471) when given together with other medicines for the potential treatment of advanced or metastatic breast cancer. This study is seeking participants who have breast cancer that: - is advanced, may have spread to other organs (metastatic) and cannot be fully treated by surgery or radiation therapy - is sensitive to hormonal therapy (it is called estrogen receptor positive); and - is no longer responding to previous treatments This study is divided into separate sub-studies. For Sub-Study A: All participants will receive ARV-471 and a medicine called abemaciclib. ARV-471 will be given by mouth, at home, 1 time a day. Abemaciclib will be given by mouth, at home, 2 times a day. We will examine the experiences of people receiving the study medicines. This will help us determine if the study medicines are safe and effective. Participants will continue to take ARV-471 and abemaciclib until their cancer is no longer responding, or side effects become too severe. They will have visits at the study clinic about every 4 weeks.

The Effect of Rhomboid Intercostal Block and Serratus Anterior Plane Block on Postoperative Respiratory Functions

Rhomboid intercostal block is used to block lateral cutaneous branches of intercostal nerves between T3 and T9 dermatomes. Serratus anterior plane block is used to block lateral cutaneous branches of intercostal nerves between T2 and T6, in addition, it is also known to block thoracodorsal nerve and long thoracic nerve. Both of the blocks are usually performed for postoperative analgesia following breast surgery. The primary hypothesis of the study is that FEV1 value of the patients who will receive modified radical mastectomy (MRM) and rhomboid intercostal plane (RIP) block combined with serratus anterior plane (SAP) will be higher than FEV1 value of the patients in the no-block group. The secondary hypothesis is that RIP+SAP blocks will provide reduction in the pain scores and opioid consumption in the postoperative first 24 hours.

Nociception Level Monitor (NOL) During Guided Analgesic Delivery in Breast Surgeries

To assess if perioperative consumption of opioids can be optimized with the assistance of a Nociception Level (NOL) monitor in breast surgery patients receiving pectoral and parasternal nerve blocks as supplementation to general anaesthesia. Hypothesis: 1. NOL monitor guidance optimizes perioperative analgesic consumption and postoperative length of stay and offers a better quality of recovery in breast surgery. 2. Intraoperative NOL monitoring can detect the efficacy of pectoralis and parasternal nerve blocks. 3. Incidence of persistent neuropathic pain after breast cancer surgery is lower in patients receiving lower doses of perioperative opioids.

This was a cross-seThis was a cross-sectional study, which aimed to describe the health-promoting lifestyle of breast cancer patients and family members in a Chinese genetic counseling clinic, and to explore its various levels with different socio-economic variables. 259 patients conformed to the inclusion and exclusion criteria were enrolled. Participants were sent a questionnaire web-link to be invited to finish this survey. 140 participants were finally included in this study. Finally, a good level of health-promoting lifestyle of breast cancer patients and family members was acquired. More education and intervention should be tailored to enhance and encourage health-promoting lifestyle behaviors in participants with low monthly family income. Additionally, developing nutritional curriculum and strengthening the publicity of nutritional popular science were priorities in the future improvement measures.ctional study
