Effectiveness of Distal and Proximal Muscle Fatigue for Healthy Young Adults

Start date: December 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This is a study aiming to investigate the effects of acute muscle fatigue on muscle properties, balance and foot plantar pressure in healthy young adults (having no chronic diseases or orthopaedic diseases and physically active). This study also aims to compare the effects of foot muscle fatigue and hip muscle fatigue on balance and foot plantar pressure. The exercises for ankle muscle fatigue are heel rise with bending your knee and heel raise without bending your knees. The exercise for hip muscle fatigue is a single-leg squat. Before and after completing these all exercises, the balance is evaluated with an isokinetic balance device, the foot plantar pressure is evaluated with a pedobarography device and finally, the muscle properties are evaluated with a myotonPro device. All assessment devices are non-invasive.

NCT ID: NCT05877729 Recruiting - HIV/AIDS Clinical Trials

Intervention for Virologic Suppression in Youth

iVY
Start date: November 29, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The goal of this randomized clinical trial is to test the effect of a technology-based intervention with an Adaptive Treatment Strategy (ATS) among youth living with HIV (YLWH) (18-29 years old). This piloted and protocolized intervention combines: (1) brief weekly sessions with a counselor via a video-chat platform (video-counseling) to discuss mental health (MH), substance use (SU), HIV care engagement, and other barriers to care; and (2) a mobile health application (app) to address barriers such as ART forgetfulness and social isolation. Individuals who are not virologically suppressed will be randomized to video-counseling+app or standard of care (SOC). Through this study, the investigators will be able to: Aim 1: Test the efficacy of video-counseling+app vs SOC on virologic suppression in YLWH.The investigators will compare HIV virologic suppression of those randomized to the intervention vs control arms at 16 weeks via an RCT. Aim 2: Assess the impact of video-counseling+app vs SOC on MH and SU in YLWH. The investigators will evaluate the MH and SU differences between the intervention vs control arms at 16 weeks via an RCT. Aim 3: Explore an ATS to individualize the intervention by assigning the: 1. virologic "non-responders" in the intervention arm to intensified video-counseling+app for 16 more weeks, 2. virologic "responders" in the intervention arm to continue only app use for 16 more weeks. Researchers will compare the characteristics of virologic responders and non-responders to the intervention, individualization of the intervention based on these variables, and linkage to MH and SU treatment services among those in need to see if delivery of care is enhanced and impact on virologic suppression.

NCT ID: NCT05866133 Recruiting - Drug Addiction Clinical Trials

Relationship of Addictions to Obesity, Physical Activity and Vascular Ageing in Young Adults

Start date: April 17, 2023
Phase:
Study type: Observational

This is a cross-sectional observational study whose objective is to analyse the relationship between behavioural addictions and drug addictions with obesity, physical activity, sedentary lifestyle, arterial stiffness and vascular ageing in young adults, since many of the lifestyles of adulthood are established early in life, and it is easier to prevent them before they start than to achieve their abandonment once they are established as unhealthy lifestyles

NCT ID: NCT05683093 Recruiting - Hypertension Clinical Trials

Cardiovascular Longitudinal ALSPAC Research Investigations Following Hypertensive Pregnancy in Young Adulthood

CLARITY
Start date: November 17, 2022
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The purpose of this study is to understand more about why young people who were born to a hypertensive pregnancy may have increased risk of high blood pressure and are often at increased risk of heart and blood vessel disease later in life.

NCT ID: NCT05608811 Completed - Blindness Clinical Trials

The Effect of Social Skills Training in Visually Impaired Adolescents

Start date: July 1, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The aim of our study is to examine the effects of eight sessions of online social skills training given to visually impaired adolescents on social skills, self-efficacy, social phobia and social integration. Forty visually impaired adolescents between the ages of 13 and 19 participated in the study. Participants were divided into control and training groups. 20 adolescents were included in the education program. All participants included in the study were evaluated using the Sociodemographic Information Form, Social Skills Assessment Scale for Children, General Self-Efficacy Scale, Child and Adolescent Social Phobia Scale, and Social Integration Questionnaire.

NCT ID: NCT05491551 Recruiting - Binge Drinking Clinical Trials

Alcohol-ROC-Training

A-ROC-T
Start date: September 28, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The goal of the proposed study is to examine whether brief training in regulation of craving (ROC-T) affects alcohol drinking. The study will consist of a basic screening (phone and online), and in person visit to determine eligibility and conduct pre-intervention baseline assessments, 1-4 training (ROC-T) visits, a post-intervention assessment visit, and 1-2 phone/online follow up assessments. The two active conditions of ROC-T are based on cognitive-behavioral treatments (CBT) and mindfulness-based treatments (MBT).

NCT ID: NCT05231291 Completed - Young Adult Clinical Trials

Association Between Handgrip Strength, Skinfold Thickness and Trunk Strength

Start date: November 12, 2021
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The main objective was to explore relationship between skinfold measurement at multiple sites, hand grip strength, and trunk muscle strength (flexors and extensors) in healthy participants. Conclusion: There is a moderate association between hand grip strength, T score and trunk muscle strength, evident from the present research. Though no such association was seen for skinfold measurement.

NCT ID: NCT05211869 Recruiting - Diabetes Clinical Trials

T1DTechCHW: Enhancing the Community Health Worker Model to Promote Diabetes Technology Use in Young Adults From Underrepresented Minority Groups
