A Symptom Management Application for Children at the Early Stage of Cancer Survivorship and Their Caregivers

The goal of this randomized controlled trial is to examine the efficacy of the mHealth app in improving symptoms experienced by children in the early stage of cancer survivorship, including physical function, anxiety, depressive symptoms, fatigue, peer relationships, and pain interference, and at improving the quality of life (QoL) of the children's primary caregivers The main question it aims to answer is whether survivors who receive the symptom management mHealth app intervention will report improved symptoms, i.e., improved physical function; lower levels of anxiety, depressive symptoms, and fatigue; better peer relationships; and lower pain interference 3 months after starting the intervention. Additionally, we hypothesized that the primary caregivers (either the mother or father) would report an improved QoL 3 months after starting the intervention. Participants in the intervention group will use the mHealth app for 12 weeks with personalised nurse support via interactive communication technologies. They are required to complete questionnaires at baseline (during medical follow-up), 1, 2, and 3 months (via electronic-based systems in the mobile app) Besides, semi-structured interviews and will be conducted to examine the usability, feasibility, and acceptability of the intervention.

FitEx for Endometrial Cancer Survivors: Initial Efficacy

The goal of this clinical trial is to compare physical activity outcomes between endometrial cancer survivors randomized to 1 of 3 conditions: 1) usual care, 2) FitEx, 3) FitEx+yoga. Survivors randomized to FitEx groups will recruit ~3 support team members to complete the intervention with them. The main question[s] it aims to answer are: - Do FitEx groups undertake more physical activity than the usual care group? - Are there differences in quality of life, self-compassion, flourishing, self-efficacy, social support, habit formation, and fruit /vegetable consumption Participants will: - Wear a Fitbit - Complete surveys - Participate in 30 minute weekly virtual meetings (FitEx groups only) - Receive weekly newsletters (FitEx groups only)

A Technology-based Intervention for Promoting Physical Activity Among Post-treatment Cancer Survivors

Cancer survivors generally have low physical activity (PA) levels. While literature shows some evidence of improvement in PA following technology-based PA promotion interventions among cancer survivors, high-quality randomised control trials (RCTs), with objective measures of PA and longer-term follow-up, are lacking. Using a theoretical framework that addresses action control in addition to intention formation may enhance intervention effect. The Multi-process action control (M-PAC) framework is an extension of the traditional intention-formation theories, incorporating constructs that address the translation of intention into behaviour and continual action control. After comprehensively searching, no previous or ongoing RCTs have investigated the efficacy of a technology-based PA promotion intervention in cancer survivors that is designed based on the M-PAC framework. Investigators therefore propose a RCT to evaluate a technology-based intervention (WExercise) to support the promotion of PA in cancer survivors.

The investigators propose to perform serial detailed cognitive, motor, behavioral, and blood collection follow-up using longitudinal structured telephone interviews of an anticipated 350 ICH survivors enrolled in Minimally Invasive Surgery Plus Alteplase for Intracerebral Hemorrhage Evacuation (MISTIE) III and ENRICH trials to identify specific cognitive and motor impairment and to perform RNA sequencing to evaluate for evidence of chronic inflammation. The investigators' expected sample size in 2022 accounts for mortality attrition of 10%/year.

A Yoga Program for Adults Diagnosed With Gynecologic Cancer

Worldwide, >1.3 million adults are diagnosed with a gynecologic cancer each year. With rising survival rates, there are an increasing number of adults experiencing negative body image and decreased sexual functioning, resulting in reduced emotional, psychological, and social wellbeing and quality of life (QoL). It is vital that adults have access to programs focused on improving their body image and sexual functioning after a gynecologic cancer diagnosis. The Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation (ORCF) is a non-for-profit, community-based organization offering support to persons with cancer. Strong university-community partnerships are essential to enhance translational and implementation research efforts. Stakeholders from academia, the healthcare sector, and the community (ORCF) are partnering to establish and implement an evidenced-based yoga program co-created with adults diagnosed with gynecologic cancer and yoga instructors to address the wellbeing needs of adults diagnosed with gynecologic cancer. The specific objectives of this mixed-methods feasibility trial are to: (1) evaluate the feasibility (recruitment, retention, adherence, intervention fidelity) of (a) the yoga program and (b) the trial methods the investigators propose to use to evaluate its benefits in a future trial (i.e., trial methods), (2) evaluate the acceptability of the yoga program and evaluative methods, and (3) explore preliminary effects of the program on key self-reported outcomes. Data will be used to frame evaluation and implementation efforts.

Use of Transcranial Photobiomodulation to Improve Cognition and Self-Reported Outcomes in Survivors of Childhood Cancer

Survivors of childhood cancer are at greater risk for long-term cognitive impairments that include attention, executive function, intelligence, memory, and processing speed. The participants are a survivor of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) or Hodgkin's lymphoma (HL). Because of your treatment the participant may have developed trouble with thinking and learning. Primary Objective To evaluate the feasibility of using home-based tPBM paired with remote cognitive training to improve cognitive performance in survivors of ALL and HL. Secondary Objectives To estimate the potential efficacy of alpha and gamma frequency tPBM on cognitive performance in survivors of ALL and HL. Exploratory Objectives To estimate the effects of home-based tPBM paired with remote cognitive training on patient reported symptoms of executive dysfunction, sleep, depression, anxiety, fatigue, and pain in survivors of ALL and HL.
