NCT ID: NCT06001502 Recruiting - Post Operative Pain Clinical Trials

The Effect of Virtual Reality on Postoperative Pain and Anxiety in Cardiac Surgery.

VRECOVERY
Start date: January 1, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The objective of this study is to investigate the effect of VR on post-operative pain and anxiety management in cardiac surgery patients undergoing a coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) procedure. Participants in the intervention group will receive a 20 minute session with the head mounted VR device on post-operative days 1,2 and 3. Participants in the control group will be treated with conventional post-operative care.

NCT ID: NCT05993273 Recruiting - Lung Cancer Clinical Trials

Pain Control After VATS Anatomical Pulmonary Resections

Start date: April 5, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

In patients undergoing minimally invasive thoracoscopic surgery (video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery, or VATS), moderate to severe post-operative pain may often be experienced. The presence of pain negatively affects the perceived quality of care and can predispose to complications, as the development of chronic pain. In order to prevent post-operative pain, different multimodal pain treatment protocols are applied, consisting in combinations of local-regional anesthesiological techniques and intravenous medications. Regional anesthesia is considered essential to prevent pain in the immediate post-operative period. However, to date, there is no agreement regarding which is the most effective regional anesthesiological technique; therefore, the choice is usually based on the Anesthetist's preferences. The aim of this study is to compare three regional anesthesiological techniques (cryoanalgesia, epidural anesthesia, and erector spinae muscle plane block) routinely used during thoracoscopic lung surgery.

NCT ID: NCT05991453 Recruiting - Depression Clinical Trials

Trajectories of Recovery After Intravenous Propofol Versus Inhaled VolatilE Anesthesia Trial

THRIVE
Start date: September 13, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The investigators will conduct a 12,500-patient randomized multi-center trial to determine (i) which general anesthesia technique yields superior patient recovery experiences in any of three surgical categories ((a) major inpatient surgery, (b) minor inpatient surgery, (c) outpatient surgery) and (ii) whether TIVA confers no more than a small (0.2 %) increased risk of intraoperative awareness than INVA in patients undergoing both outpatient and inpatient surgeries

NCT ID: NCT05990686 Recruiting - Post Operative Pain Clinical Trials

Paracetamol Plus Tramadol Versus Fentanyl in Day Case Surgeries

Start date: January 10, 2023
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Postoperative pain is an important problem, especially for day case surgeries. It has negative effects on patient's hemodynamics and can cause delayed ambulation resulting in prolonged duration of hospital stay and poor patient satisfaction. Multiple analgesic strategies have been proposed including NSAID, opioids, epidural analgesia. Each of them has its limitations. In this study the investigators will compare between the effect of preemptive use of paracetamol plus tramadol versus preemptive intravenous fentanyl in controlling postoperative pain

NCT ID: NCT05990049 Recruiting - Pain, Postoperative Clinical Trials

Hyaluronic Acid and Free Gingival Graft Healing

Start date: March 1, 2023
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This study aims to evaluate the impact of locally applied hyaluronic acid on free gingival graft wound bed healing and palatal donor site wound healing. Forty subjects will be randomly divided in two separate groups. Test group will be treated with hyaluronic acid during the procedure and the control group without. Periodontal parameters and other clinical measurements will be taken on baseline, 7 days postoperative, 14 days postoperative, 1 month, 3 months and 6 months postoperative.

NCT ID: NCT05985629 Recruiting - Pain, Postoperative Clinical Trials

IPACK on Early Pain Scores After ACL Reconstruction

Start date: August 3, 2023
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

The goal of this clinical trial is to learn whether using an anesthetic technique called IPACK block will control pain after ACL reconstruction surgery. The main questions it aims to answer are: - if participants who receive the IPACK block prior to ACL reconstruction experience less pain after surgery and at 1 day after surgery - if participants who receive the IPACK block prior to ACL reconstruction require less short-term opioid use immediately after surgery and up to one week after surgery. Participants will be randomized 1:1 to 1 of 2 groups: Use of IPACK block during ACL reconstruction vs. placebo (a placebo is a look-alike substance that contains no active drug). Neither the participant nor the investigator will know which group the participants has been assigned to. Researchers will compare self-reported pain scores and short-term opioid use of all study participants.

NCT ID: NCT05984433 Recruiting - Pain, Postoperative Clinical Trials

Auricular Acupuncture as Part of Multimodal Analgesia After Lower Leg Fracture

Start date: October 9, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose is to find out if incorporation of an intraoperative electro auricular acupuncture protocol when added to a standard multimodal analgesic regimen for patients undergoing surgery to repair lower leg fracture under spinal anesthesia will help reduce postoperative opioid use.

NCT ID: NCT05981781 Recruiting - Caudal Block Clinical Trials

Ultrasound Guided Pericapsular Nerve Group Block Versus Ultrasound Guided Caudal Block for Postoperative Pain in Paediatric Hip Surgery

Start date: May 15, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Aim of the study is to evaluate postoperative analgesic effect of ultrasound guided PENG block in comparison to ultrasound guided caudal epidural anaesthesia for hip surgeries in paediatrics

NCT ID: NCT05975385 Recruiting - Pain, Postoperative Clinical Trials

Acupuncture for Prevention of Postoperative Nausea and Vomiting After Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy

Start date: October 9, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose is to find out if intraoperative acupuncture performed by needling PC 6 and LI4 point bilaterally, and Yin Tang point will help reduce the incidence postoperative nausea and vomiting in patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy when added to a prophylactic regimen consisting of ondansetron and dexamethasone. The hypothesis is that the addition of this acupuncture treatment to ondansetron and dexamethasone given for prophylaxis will help reduce the incidence of postoperative nausea and vomiting in patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy when compared to patients receiving ondansetron and dexamethasone without acupuncture.

NCT ID: NCT05974254 Recruiting - Pain, Postoperative Clinical Trials

Auricular Acupuncture As Part Of A Multimodal Regimen After Distal Radius Open Reduction and Internal Fixation

Start date: October 9, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This randomized controlled trial will test the hypothesis that patients receiving an intraoperative auricular acupuncture protocol will require less postoperative opioid analgesic use compared to those who do not receive acupuncture in the setting of a multimodal analgesic protocol for patients receiving surgery to repair distal radius fractures at a Level 1 trauma center under brachial plexus anesthesia with sedation.
