Patient-derived Organoids Predicts the Clinical Efficiency of Colorectal Liver Metastasis

Accumulating evidence indicates that patient- derived organoids (PDOs) can predict drug responses in the clinic. Metastasis is the main cause of death in colorectal cancer patients, and the treatment of patients with liver metastasis remains poor. Tumor heterogeneity is the cause of treatment failure. In this study, we aim the investigate the consistency of drug sensitivity for the matched primary and metastatic tumor in patients with liver metastasis.

Vertebroplasty With Radiation Therapy for Spine Metastatic Cancer Patients With Indeterminate Lesion (SINS Criteria)

This clinical trial studies the side effects of stereotactic radiosurgery and how well it works with or without vertebroplasty, separation surgery, or immunotherapy in patients with cancer that is radiation resistant and has spread to the spine (spinal metastases). Spinal metastases are rapidly progressive, have poor prognosis, are extremely difficult to treat, and can effect patient quality of life and overall health. Immunotherapy is a type of standard of care therapy to boost or restore the ability of the immune system to fight cancer. Stereotactic radiosurgery is a type of external radiation therapy that uses special equipment to position the patient and precisely give a single large dose of radiation to a tumor. A vertebroplasty is a procedure used to repair a bone in the spine that has a break caused by cancer, osteoporosis, or trauma. The purpose of this trial is to test different combinations of immunotherapy, stereotactic radiosurgery, and surgery to improve overall survival and quality of life in patients with spinal metastases.

Pain Relief in Symptomatic Bone Metastases With Adjuvant Hyperthermia MR Guided HIFU

Metastatic disease to the bone is a common cause of pain. External beam radiation therapy (EBRT) is the standard palliative treatment BUT pain improvement is observed in 60% to 80%. Combination of hyperthermia (HT) with radiation is strongly compelling. MR is providing accurate, tissue-independent thermometry for intra-procedural guidance of thermal therapy. In this project we aim to combine in an adjuvant setting mild hyperthermia to EBRT for sustained relief of pain in patients with symptomatic bone metastases.

Re-TREAT: Re-irradiation for Relapsed Brain Metastases

The Re-TREAT study is a prospective clinical, phase 2, interventional, single-arm, multicenter trial for patients with local relapse of one or more brain metastases. Patients with recurrence of one or more brain metastases that have previously been treated with stereotactic radiosurgey (SRS) are treated with repeated SRS. The aim is to evaluate the efficacy and toxicity of salvage SRS. The primary outcome is local control of the relapsed tumor and the secondary endpoints include toxicity as evaluated by the investigator and quality of life measured as a patient reported outcome. As an exploratory endpoint, the value of advanced MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) and PET (positron emission tomography) imaging as a biomarker for prediction of response to treatment or toxicity will be studied.
