Filter by:The study will investigate whether a nociceptin receptor antagonist will normalize neural and behavioral processes of approach/avoidance decision-making in unmedicated individuals with major depressive disorder (MDD) and anxiety disorders. More specifically, the study aims to investigate dysregulation within (1) corticostriatal-midbrain circuitry and (2) nociceptin/orphanin FQ peptide and the nociceptin receptor (NOPR).
Different concentrations of Esketamine were used after cesarean section. Through the evaluation of postoperative psychological status and analgesic effect, the optimal dosage of Esketamine to exert the effects of depression and analgesia was analyzed.
The purpose of the study is to examine the feasibility and potential efficacy of low-intensity focused ultrasound as a method of modulating amygdala function to promote improvements in symptoms of an affective disorder. Ultrasound is frequently and safely utilized for diagnostic purposes. In this study, the investigators will utilize magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and neuronavigation to target the left amygdala and apply ultrasound. This will be conducted once a day, 5 days a week, for 3 weeks. This will be an open-label, single-arm trial.
The research study is being conducted to test whether using high dose spaced theta-burst rTMS (a form of transcranial magnetic stimulation) produces a significant reduction in depressive symptoms compared with sham. This project will recruit patients aged 18-70 with symptoms of bipolar depression who have failed (or not shown signs of improvement) after at least two prior treatments.
The primary objectives of this clinical investigation are to (1) determine the feasibility of joining psilocybin treatment with CBT (cognitive-behavioral therapy) for patients with depression, (2) optimize CBT to most effectively integrate the psilocybin experience with psychotherapy and (3) determine the initial efficacy of psilocybin as an adjunct to cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) for major depressive disorder. Psilocybin will be administered orally in two doses during the course of 12 sessions of CBT to eligible study participants - a 10mg dose following the third session and a 25mg dose following the sixth session. Participants will be in active treatment for the first 4 months (psilocybin + CBT) of the study and then followed for an additional 3-months following the termination of CBT.
This is a clinical trial to determine the long-term safety and tolerability of an investigational drug in people with Major Depressive Episode Associated with Bipolar I Disorder (Bipolar I Depression). Participants in the study will receive the drug being studied. This study is accepting male and female participants between 18 and 65 years old who have completed Study SEP380-301. This study will be conducted in approximately 90 study centers worldwide. The treatment duration for this study is one (1) year.
The study was planned as a two-group parallel randomized controlled experimental study in order to determine the effects of the nurse navigation program developed for mothers in the postpartum period on mothers' self-care power, quality of life, anxiety and depression risks, and physical symptom severity. The study will be carried out in Ankara Etlik Zübeyde Hanım Gynecology Training and Research Hospital. The population of the research will be primiparous mothers who gave birth vaginally in Ankara.
This study is a pilot, single-center, randomized controlled trial. It will 1. determine feasibility and acceptability of an evidence-based intervention for prevention of postpartum depression with antepartum patients on a high-risk obstetric unit, 2. determine what adaptations may be needed for an inpatient population 3. determine what retention strategies are most successful and acceptable for this patient population 4. estimate the effect size of an intervention for in-hospital distress, anxiety and depression 5. estimate the effect size of an intervention to reduce the risk of a post-partum depression diagnosis or depressive symptoms.
Repetitive Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) uses magnetic fields to modulate brain activity. A novel form of repetitive TMS (rTMS), intermittent theta burst stimulation (iTBS), has emerged as a promising new treatment for depression. This technique may be advantageous due to its very short duration and potentially stronger effect on brain activity in comparison with standard rTMS. However, the exact effect of iTBS on the activity of the brain in clinical populations remains poorly understood. This project aims to improve understanding of the mechanisms of action of iTBS by comparing its neuronal effect to sham treatment in 22 individuals with a diagnosis of major depressive episode, using positron emission tomography (PET) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in a double-blind cross-over experiment, followed by a 6-week daily treatment course of iTBS.
Depression is a highly prevalent condition characterized by persistent low mood, energy, and activity that can affect one's thoughts, mood, behavior, and sense of well-being. Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS), a non-invasive neuromodulatory technique, is an effective treatment for depression when targeting the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (dlPFC) of the central executive network (CEN). However, remission rates are suboptimal and individual methods to target the dlPFC are lacking. In this study, we will enroll 50 patients with major depression and in a single rTMS 'dose,' prospective, randomized, double-blind, cross-over design will assess whether rTMS targeted to an individual's central executive network (CEN) assessed by single pulse TMS can enhance network modulation. If successful, this work will lead to a clinical rTMS trial comparing this personalized targeting approach against standard rTMS.
