There are about 1447 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Croatia. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
This study aims to evaluate the association of masticatory efficiency with different conditions of the stomatognathic system (transitioning from primary to secondary dentition, dental caries, malocclusion, tooth loss, prosthodontic treatment) in the paediatric population. Also, to assess the correlation between masticatory efficiency and nutritional status. The study will be conducted on children between 3 and 14 years of age. Masticatory efficiency will be evaluated by the optical scanning method. Participants will chew a standardized silicone tablet controlled by the examiner for 20 masticatory strokes. By scanning the comminuted particles, data on each particle's size will be obtained. Enhanced masticatory performance is presented by a decrease in the chewed particle areas and an increase in the number of chewed particles.
Type I diabetes mellitus (T1DM) affects about 0.1-0.2% of all pregnancies. T1DM in pregnancy increases the risk of maternal and neonatal complications. Continuous glucose monitoring systems (CGM) provide a continuous display of measured glucose. Studies have shown improved pregnancy outcomes for patients with T1DM using CGM when compared to capillary blood glucose measurements. This prospective observational study analyses impact of glycemic variability on development of large-for-gestational-age neonates and effects of hypoglycemia during pregnancy on pregnancy outcomes. Furthermore, overall glycemic regulation, different insulin metrics and C-peptide concentration during pregnancy will also be assesed.
Hypothyroidism is a common disease that is successfully treated with the replacement of thyroid hormones in the form of levothyroxine. Levothyroxine is drug used in the first line of substitution therapy because it appropriately mimics physiological secretion of thyroxine (T4) and its peripheral conversion to triiodothyronine (T3). However, due to its narrow therapeutic index, and because it is administered at very low doses (micrograms - μg), it is particularly sensitive to the absorption phase interactions, which are due to its narrow therapeutic index, mainly clinically significant. In pregnancy, one of the goals is to maintain the values of thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) in the lower part of the reference interval (below 2,5 milli-International units - mIU/L) for a proper child development. Also, due to increased nutritional needs during pregnancy, nutritional supplements are commonly used by pregnant women on their own initiative, but also often recommended by healthcare personnel. Reviewing the literature, we did not find high quality evidence to suggest the existence or to refute the interaction between dietary supplements for pregnant women and the absorption of levothyroxine. The aim of this study is to investigate this potential interaction between dietary supplements used in pregnancy and levothyroxine absorption in order to test the safety of the use of these preparations in pregnant women who are on replacement therapy with levothyroxine.
The patients who had COVID-19 infection, and after that reported for one of the signs of gastrointestinal disorder (esophageal and anorectal) will be underwent to esophageal and anorectal motor monitoring investigation (HRM manometry) on standard protocol.
Participants are being asked to participate in SELECT-LIFE study because participants take part in the SELECT trial. SELECT-LIFE study is a survey-based study that will start when the SELECT trial ends. SELECT-LIFE looks at the long-term effects of participants taking part in the SELECT trial including the trial medicine participants have been taking. When the SELECT trial ends, participants will no longer get the medicine participants got in the study, even if participants decide to take part in the SELECT-LIFE study. Participants will not get any specific treatment or medicine as part of the SELECT-LIFE study, and participants will be treated as participants normally would by their own doctor. The SELECT-LIFE study will last for up to 10 years after SELECT trial ends, and participants will be asked to fill in a questionnaire about their health every 6 months.
This is a Phase III, global, randomized, open-label, multicenter, study evaluating the efficacy and safety of adjuvant giredestrant compared with endocrine therapy of physician's choice in participants with medium- and high-risk Stage I-III histologically confirmed estrogen receptor (ER)-positive and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-negative early breast cancer. In addition, an open-label exploratory substudy will explore the safety and efficacy of giredestrant in combination with abemaciclib in a subset of the primary study population.
Efficacy and safety of ofatumumab and siponimod compared to fingolimod in pediatric patients with multiple sclerosis
Glaucoma is a group of chronic eye diseases that are characterized by a progressive optic nerve damage and consequent visual loss. In most cases, it is associated with elevated intraocular pressure. If glaucoma left untreated, complete blindness can occur. Prostaglandin analog- timolol FCs are common glaucoma therapy because these drugs have been shown to effectively lower intraocular pressure (IOP). It is also known that chronic use of preservatives in the drops leads to ocular surface disease (OSD) which can lead to low tolerability of prescribed drops and gaps in the dosing regimen. The purpose of this study is to investigate whether drug preservative elimination results in reduction of OSD symptoms and signs as well as improvement of latanoprost-timolol FC local tolerability in the treatment of glaucoma and ocular hypertension. In this trial, on each visit (V1, V2 and V3) following tests will be used: Snellen visual acuity, IOP measurement by Goldman applanation tonometry, OSD signs assessment on the slit lamp (corneal and conjunctival fluorescein surface staining, conjunctival hyperemia and tear film stability assessment using Tear Break- up Time test - TBUT). Visual Analog Scale (VAS) will be used for a subjective assessment of drug tolerability. The association of quality of life and dry eye symptoms in participants will be measured by the Ocular Surface Disease Index (OSDI) questionnaire.
The primary goal of the VIRIONUM project is to analyze the association of clinical, socio-demographic characteristics of patients and their genetic polymorphism, inflammatory and other biochemical markers with disease progression and death in subjects with COVID-19 disease. The research is an observational, cohort study with nested-case control design, including adult, male and female COVID-19 inpatients. Primary dependent variable will be outcome of disease, defined as discharge from the hospital or death. The outcomes and putative risk factors will be analyzed using binary logistic regressions. The proposed multi- and inter-disciplinary study should provide additional scientific evidence about risk factors for the development of severe forms of the disease and the COVID-19-related death.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of guselkumab treatment in participants with active psoriatic arthritis (PsA) by assessing the reduction in signs and symptoms of PsA.
