Non-surgical Treatment of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome: Night Splint Versus Local Corticosteroid Infiltration

Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is the most common neuropathic compression syndrome of the upper limbs, caused by compression of the median nerve in the wrist. There is no gold standard for establishing the diagnosis of STC. The diagnosis can be based on clinical findings and electrodiagnostic tests. Treatment options can be divided into surgical and non-surgical procedures. Surgical interventions include open carpal tunnel release, mini incision or release of the endoscopic carpal tunnel. Nonsurgical include daily activities modification, oral anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), oral corticosteroids, splints, corticosteroid injections or other options (laser therapy, ultrasound or acupuncture) The aim of this study is to compare randomly, conservative treatment for CTS with night splint of the wrist versus local infiltration of corticosteroids after a min-imum period of six months follow-up. Patients will be divided into two groups: night orthesis group that will receive the prescription to purchase the orthesis and guide the use of it; and infiltration group of patients will be referred to the Moema Alvorada Hospital to carry out infiltration. These patients will be evaluated before application, one week, one month, three months and six months after intervention.

Diffuse glioms are primary brain tumors characterized by infiltrative growth and high heterogeneity, which render the disease mostly incurable. Advances in genetic analysis revealed that molecular and epigenetic alterations predict patients´s overall survival and clinical outcome. However, glioma tumorigenicity is not exclusively caused by its genetic alterations. The crosstalk between tumor cells and the surrounding microenvironment plays a crucial role in modulating glioma growth and aggressiveness. In this sense, to understand the tumor microenvironment would elucidate potential treatment alternatives. The focus will be to evaluate myeloid cells and cytokines levels.

Lumbo-pelvic Mobilization and Stabilization With Pilates Method in Low Back Pain and Movement Functionality

Lumbar pain is one of the most common injuries being the cause of morbidity in the individual generating occupational disability with strong personal, social and economic impact. As one of the methods of treatment, Pilates is a method that has good results for the management of this dysfunction. However, it is not known exactly which approach Pilates can bring better results for this population. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to compare the effects of two types of Pilates method interventions on non-specific chronic low back pain. A blinded randomized clinical trial, will be held. 28 patients divided randomly into two groups will be assessed, the Mobilization Pilates (MP) and the Stabilization Pilates (SP). Both groups will be formed by individuals of both sexes and aged 21 to 41 years with chronic low back pain. Both groups will receive 10 sessions of Pilates Methods twice a week, with each session taking an average of 50 minutes, therefore the MP will focus on a lumbo-pelvic mobilization exercises approach and the SP will focus on lumbo-pelvic stabilization exercises approach. At the beginning and end of the 5 weeks the individuals are evaluated to verify the presence of pain and disability with VAS of pain and Oswestry Questionnaire, and also with the Functional Movement Screen. Data will be analyzed statistically.

Study AG120-C-009 is a global, Phase 3, multicenter, double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trial to evaluate the efficacy and safety of AG-120 (ivosidenib) + azacitidine vs placebo + azacitidine in adult participants with previously untreated IDH1m AML who are considered appropriate candidates for non-intensive therapy. The primary endpoint is event-free survival (EFS). The key secondary efficacy endpoints are overall survival (OS), rate of complete remission (CR), rate of CR and complete remission with partial hematologic recovery (CRh), and overall response rate (ORR). Participants eligible for study treatment based on Screening assessments will be randomized 1:1 to receive oral AG-120 or matched placebo, both administered in combination with subcutaneous (SC) or intravenous (IV) azacitidine. An estimated 200 participants will take part in the study.

Clinical Pharmacogenetic of Ibuprofen After Lower Third Molar Surgeries

The present clinical trial randomized will be to assess the link between the different haplotypes of CYP2C8 and CYP2C9 genes and the clinical efficacy of ibuprofen after lower third molar extractions. Onset, duration of postoperative analgesia, duration of anesthetic action on soft tissues, intraoperative bleeding, hemodynamic parameters, postoperative mouth opening and wound healing at the 7th postoperative day were evaluated. For this purpose, 200 healthy volunteers underwent removal of one lower third molar, under local anesthesia with articaine 4% (1:200,000 adrenaline) will be genotyped and phenotyped for these genes and their postoperative records with all data collected will be compared with the haplotypes found in the Brazilian population.
