NCT ID: NCT02940470 Completed - Breast Cancer Clinical Trials

Weight Loss Pilot Study in Postmenopausal Breast Cancer Survivors

Start date: January 2009
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The primary objective of this pilot study is to determine the effect of weight loss on a wide range of biomarkers associated with risk of breast cancer recurrence in overweight and obese breast cancer survivors. We hypothesized that weight loss would result in a statistically significant improvement in biomarkers associated with risk of breast cancer recurrence.

NCT ID: NCT02938897 Completed - Obesity Clinical Trials

Telenutrition Weight Loss Study for Men

NCT ID: NCT02931370 Completed - Obesity Clinical Trials

Ultrasound of the Knee in Obese Patients With Knee Osteoarthritis; Weight Loss

US-LOSEIT-I
Start date: November 2016
Phase:
Study type: Observational

This is a substudy to a randomised trial investigating the effect of liraglutide on body weight and pain in overweight or obese patients with knee osteoarthritis (NCT02905864). In the parent trial, patients will be subjected to an 8-week diet intervention phase including a low-calorie diet and dietetic counseling, after which patients will be randomised to receive either liraglutide 3 mg or liraglutide 3 mg placebo as an add-on to dietetic guidance on re-introducing regular foods and a focus on continued motivation to engage in a healthy lifestyle. This substudy aims to investigate any changes in Ultrasound (US) measures associated with the initial 8-week weight loss intervention.

NCT ID: NCT02929212 Completed - Morbid Obesity Clinical Trials

Effect of Number of Meals on Metabolism After Weight Loss Surgery

LAF 28
Start date: September 2009
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of meal size and texture on the levels of incretin hormone, GLP-1, after Gastric Bypass Surgery (GBP). Patterns of food intake change after bariatric surgery and patients often eat multiple small low-calorie meals, a pattern that may affect blood glucose as well as incretin levels. Whether the release of GLP-1 after an oral challenge or a single liquid meal has any physiological relevance in 'real life' setting of multiple small meals diet is unclear.

NCT ID: NCT02928471 Completed - Obesity Clinical Trials

Multi-parametric Imaging of the Knee in Obese Patients With Knee Osteoarthritis; Weight Loss

IM-LOSEIT-I
Start date: November 2016
Phase:
Study type: Observational

This is a substudy to a randomised trial investigating the effect of liraglutide on body weight and pain in overweight or obese patients with knee osteoarthritis (NCT02905864). In the parent trial, patients will be subjected to an 8-week diet intervention phase including a low-calorie diet and dietetic counseling, after which. Patients will be randomised to receive either liraglutide 3 mg or liraglutide 3 mg placebo as an add-on to dietetic guidance on re-introducing regular foods and a focus on continued motivation to engage in a healthy lifestyle. This substudy aims to investigate any changes in MRI associated with the initial 8-week weight loss intervention, and the value of CT scans in predicting the effect of weight loss.

NCT ID: NCT02923674 Completed - Obesity Clinical Trials

Weight Loss as Therapy for Heart Failure With Preserved Ejection Fraction

WTLSSCHF
Start date: August 2015
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to examine the efficacy of an intensive, supervised, lifestyle modification program on symptoms and signs of heart failure as well as laboratory and echocardiographic measures of cardiac structure and function. This will be a 6 month trial in 50 patients with a clinical diagnosis of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF). Patients will be enrolled in the Medical University of South Carolina weight management 15 week lifestyle change program which will involve weekly visits that rotate among the clinical specialities (dietary, exercise and behavioral) and scheduled visits with the research Registered Nurse. Each patients baseline data will be used as the control and compared with the same measurements at the 6 month end point.
