Development of a Clinical Trial Specific Question Prompt List

The purpose of this study is to develop a Question Prompt List (QPL) about clinical trials for cancer patients and find out what cancer patients and their caregivers think of the QPL. A QPL is a list of questions patients might want to ask their doctors during their appointments. We will conduct three focus groups to talk about using QPL's as a new way to recruit patients like you to clinical trials. The three groups will be made of patients who have and have not participated in clinical trials, their caregivers and doctors. This study is also being done to learn about how the QPL affects the question asking behavior of patients during their appointments with doctors at Memorial SloanKettering Cancer Center (MSKCC).

Efficacy and Safety of Zactima™ in Patients With Castration-refractory Metastatic Prostate Cancer

This randomized, double-blind phase II trial is to assess the efficacy and safety of bicalutamide (Casodex® ) associated to ZD6474 (Zactima™ ) or to placebo in patients with castration-refractory metastatic prostate cancer without any clinical symptom related to disease progression. The study is blinded, and subjects will be randomised (1:1 ratio) to either ZD6474 300 mg or placebo. The blinded design ensures robust, unbiased data collection and assessment. Placebo control is necessary to ensure a robust assessment of PSA PFS, and is acceptable in this subject population where all subjects will also received bicalutamide 150 mg o.d. Subjects will continue study treatment until they reach objective biological disease progression or unacceptable toxicity or withdrawal of consent or until end of trial (which event occurs first). The end of study is fixed 12 months after the last randomised patient's first dose of study treatment.

Study Evaluating Toxicity & Efficacy of Lenalidomide(Revlimid®)in Chemotherapy-Naïve AIPC Patients

This is a single institution, open label, phase II study in androgen-independent prostate cancer patients who are chemotherapy-naïve. Patients will receive Revlimid® 25 mg daily on Days 1-21 followed by 7 days of rest repeated every 28 days. Treatment continues until disease progression, patient's withdrawal, unacceptable toxicity or the investigator's discretion.

Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy in Treating Patients With Stage I, Stage II, Stage III, or Stage IV Prostate Cancer

RATIONALE: Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to kill tumor cells. Using scintigraphy to plan specialized radiation therapy that delivers a high dose of radiation directly to the tumor may kill more tumor cells and cause less damage to normal tissue. PURPOSE: This phase I/II trial is studying the side effects and best way to give intensity-modulated radiation therapy and to see how well it works in treating patients with stage I, stage II, stage III, or stage IV prostate cancer.

Use of Multiphoton Microscopy in the Diagnosis of Cancer

Multiphoton microscopy (MPM) has been shown to be able to image tissue at a cellular level. Our project will initially evaluated the ability of MPM imaging to distinguish normal bladder urothelium from atypical and malignant urothelium in the ex vivo setting. After development of sufficient criteria, we plan to develop an endoscopic bladder probe that will provide a non-invasive means to image the interior of the bladder at the cellular level, which would provide direct evidence of the presence of tumor without a biopsy. After exhibiting usefulness of MPM imaging for bladder cancer, we will look at other organs beginning with the colon.
