Filter by:Randomized trial of intraoperative intercostal block with bupivacaine with epinephrine compared to lipossomal extended release bupivacaine.
Multimodal anesthetic drug injection has been used extensively and the results of many studies suggest that postoperative pain can relief and improve the postoperative satisfaction of patients. Adrenaline is a combination of multimodal anesthetic cocktail to relieve pain. It is believed that Adrenaline causes vasoconstriction, reduces absorption of anesthetic drug into the system circulation. Currently, a comparative study on the effect of pain reduction of Adrenaline injection in the anesthetic cocktail is relatively low. There are different doses in each institution. In addition, the use of new anesthetic is Levobupivacaine that has more vasoconstrictive effect compare with traditional Bupivacaine. It also reduces the side effects of systemic and cardiotoxic effect. Therefore, the investigators think that It may not be necessary to mix Adrenaline in the multimodal anesthetic drug. Levobupivacaine already to avoid the potential side effects of Adrenaline.
To compare the effects of preoperative intravenous Dexamethasone between 10 mg and 40 mg with placebo on Postoperative Pain After Primary Total Hip Arthroplasty
The present study aims to demonstrate the effectiveness of loco-regional wall anesthesia of the transversus abdominis plane block (TAP block) and the rectus sheath block (RS block), compared to intravenous analgesia, in terms of pain reduction, postoperative analgesic drugs consumption, patient satisfaction and decrease of LOS (length of stay), in patients undergoing benign gynecological laparoscopic surgical procedures.
The purpose of this study is to determine whether enlarging the apical foramen causes postoperative pain in maxillary anterior teeth with apical periodontitis.
It is very common to perform nerve blocks for hand and wrist surgery. It allows the surgeon to perform the surgery and helps with pain control after surgery. This also means only light sedation is needed for the procedure instead of a general anesthetic, which speeds up recovery time. There are 2 types of nerve blocks that can be done for hand and/or wrist surgery. The one that is done commonly now is where the whole arm is frozen with local anesthetic. Another option is to have a nerve block where only the arm from the elbow down is frozen. Either of these types of nerve blocks can be chosen to safely accomplish surgery of the hand or wrist. However, the best nerve block for hand and/or wrist surgery has not been decided yet. In order to determine which block is best, the investigators will be looking at patient satisfaction with the experience, as well as the surgical conditions provided and overall safety. It is thought that many patients may prefer the arm block below the elbow as it allows for greater mobility immediately following surgery, and the surgical conditions provided will be very similar to those of the full arm nerve block.
The study evaluates the effectiveness of anterior quadratus lumborum block for post operative analgesia after hip arthroplasty. Half of the participants will receive ultrasound guided anterior quadratus lumborum block using 30ml bupivacaine 0.375%, while the other half will not receive the block ( control group).
Prospective observational study to analyse patients' pain related outcome after surgery and ist association to genetic variants and non-genetic variables.
extrusion of infected dentin into the periapical tissue has been suggested as a major source of pain after endodontic treatment. Although debris extrusion is an inevitable finding even when instrumentation is limited to the confines of the canal, different armamentarium seem to be associated with different amounts of debris extrusion. Studies on the effect of various rotary files on post-endodontic pain are very few and have yielded conflicting results with some favoring full-sequence and others leaning towards reciprocal rotary systems. This study aims at assessing the intensity of post-endodontic pain following two different rotary systems, Reciproc and race. Methods: in this single-blind, parallel-grouped randomized clinical trial a total of 150 otherwise healthy patients aged between 20 to 50 years old with a pulpal status of irreversible pulpitis for one tooth in the upper or lower molar region were analyzed. A clinician performed the endodontic treatment in two groups, a group instrumented using race and a third group with instrumentation performed using Reciproc rotary systems.
The incidence of obesity is steadily rising. Laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG) is an innovative approach to the surgical management of morbid obesity. We will be discussing the effect of adding paravertebral block (PVB) in addition to general anesthesia (GA) vs. GA alone for post operative pain after laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy.
