Effects of a Physiotherapist-delivered Dietary Weight Loss Program in People With Knee OA Who Have Overweight/Obesity

The aim of this randomized controlled trial is to evaluate the effects of a physiotherapist-delivered dietary weight loss program on clinical outcomes among people with knee osteoarthritis (OA) who have overweight or obesity. The primary hypothesis is that a physiotherapist-delivered dietary weight loss plus exercise program will be more effective in achieving weight loss than a physiotherapist-delivered exercise program alone. Approximately 6-9 physiotherapists in Melbourne, Australia will be recruited and trained in weight management for OA patients, as well as trained in how to deliver the specific study interventions. The same therapists will deliver the intervention in both arms of the trial. 88 participants with knee OA will be recruited from the community and randomized into one of the two arms a) diet plus exercise intervention or b) exercise intervention alone. Participants in both groups will be asked to attend 6 consultations with the physiotherapist over 6 months. Questionnaire and laboratory-based outcome measures will be completed by participants at baseline and at the end of the 6 month intervention period. A biostatistician will analyse blinded, de-identified data.

Soybean peptides are a mixture of active peptides obtained from the hydrolysis of soybean protein, which have biological activities such as antioxidant, blood pressure lowering, anti-fatigue and lipid lowering, etc. They can regulate food intake, increase satiety, and reduce fat body ratio by reducing cholesterol and triglyceride content and stimulating CCK secretion.Conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) is a set of linoleic acid with conjugated unsaturated double bond, the location and structure of the isomers have been approved by the ministry of health in China as a new resource food , widely used in areas such as health care products, functional foods and food additives, animal experiments showed that it has reduce tumor, atherosclerosis, obesity risk.Therefore, in this study, the effect of conjugated linoleic acid combined with soybean peptide on overweight and obese people was investigated in a randomized controlled manner.

Pragmatic Randomized Clinical Trial to Limit Weight Gain in Pregnancy and Prevent Obesity

Healthy for Two, Healthy for You (H42/H4U) is an innovative evidence-based pregnancy/postpartum health coach intervention that is remotely-delivered (phone coaching using motivational interviewing, web-based platform, mobile phone behavioral tracking). The aim of this randomized controlled trial (RCT) is to embed H42/H4U into Johns Hopkins prenatal care clinics that serve a racially and economically diverse population, leveraging existing staff as trained health coaches to test its effectiveness and implementation. The investigators hypothesize that women in the H42/H4U arm will have lower gestational weight gain and lower rates of gestational diabetes, without an increase in low birth weight infants, and that implementation into the investigators' prenatal care clinics will be feasible and scalable.

This study would compare the effects of 2 types of exercise regimes providing data on their beneficial effects on body composition and myocardial function along with reducing the central adiposity. This study may also be used as a novel intervention strategy for primary prevention of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases by modification of a major risk factor i.e. obesity in Pakistani population, consequently reducing the burden of morbidity and mortality from cardiometabolic diseases.

Lifestyle Interventions for Overweight Adults With Mental Illness

The purpose of this study is to examine the lifestyle intervention on life quality and mental health among overweight adults with severe mental illness in Shenzhen, China. A total of 210 overweight adults with severe mental illness will be randomly allocated to intervention group and control group. Participants in the intervention groups will receive a 10-month lifestyle intervention while the control group will be waitlisted. A group of investigators will measure the anthropocentric indicators, blood pressure, lifestyle, life quality, and mental health for all participants.
