Filter by:Oxyjun is known for improving cardiovascular endurance. Overweight and obese individuals are at increased risk of cardiovascular complications. To lower the risk, these individuals need to remain physically active with acceptable aerobic fitness. Hence, the objective of the study is to investigate the effect of Oxyjun on aerobic fitness in physically active overweight and obese individuals. All subjects in the study will be tested for maximum aerobic capacity , body composition, and serum biomarker for fitness.
The aim of the present study is to investigate effects of 12 weeks time-restricted eating on behaviour and metabolism in individuals with overweight or obesity at high risk of type 2 diabetes.
Aim of the study is to investigate the effect of a 12-week supplementation of Santa Herba Extract on body weight in overweight and obese subjects. Additionally appetite related marker as well as marker of white adipose tissue browning will be evaluated.
Overweight and obesity are a public health problem for society, reflected by an increase in its prevalence worldwide, being more frequent in women and related to low levels of self-esteem, accumulation of subcutaneous fat and internal organs, reduction of muscle mass (MM) and basal metabolic rate (BMR). Women are more predisposed to present weight gain because they are metabolically less efficient, have greater food intake, greater physical inactivity, and genetic factors. The different methods of physical training used for weight control are continuous training (CT) and the high-intensity interval training (HIIT). Both CT and HIIT have shown benefits without finding superiority of any of these methods. Nevertheless, there is a trend to the use HIIT programs, since they are more time-efficient and supports their use to induce physiological and metabolic adaptations over time, since this is a barrier to adherence to exercise programs. Overweight and obesity causes individual alterations in body composition and exercise leads to increase in MM, increase in caloric expenditure during the training session and increase in BMR due to the onset of muscle growth, secondary to an increase in the activity of the mitochondrial enzymes (greater mitochondrial biogenesis in the muscle), adaptations that could depend on the type of exercise, its intensity and the volume of it, but it is not clear due to the lack of evidence regarding this. The primary objective of this study is to demonstrate that a HIIT program of short duration in a real-world setting has a standardized mean difference (SMD) higher than 0.84 in the improvement of self-esteem when comparing with a moderate-intensity continuous training (MICT) in women 18 to 44 years with overweight and obesity and low self-esteem, during eight weeks. The secondary objective is to demonstrate that a low-volume HIIT in a real-world setting improves MM in 2% compared with MICT during a period of eight weeks in women 18 to 44 years.
The epidemics of obesity, MeTSy, T2DM and CVD are increasing worldwide. Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is becoming recognized as a condition possibly involved in the pathogenesis of these diseases. The prevailing hypothesis for NAFLD pathogenesis is the 'two-hit' model, with insulin resistance and hyperinsulinemia playing essential roles, which have a plethora of effects on hepatic lipid metabolism and can lead to accumulation of triglycerides in hepatocytes. Accepted treatment for NAFLD is lifestyle modifications. Sex hormones might be relevant in T2DM development and treatment. Low testosterone (T) has deteriorating effects on glucose levels, and aggravates in obesity as aromatization of T is enhanced. T deficiency is related to increases of visceral fat accumulation and associated with development of NAFLD. T replacement might be a successful way in hypogonadism to treat obesity and counteract progression of MEtSy,T2DM or CVD driven by visceral fat accumulation or NAFLD. Primary Objective To investigate the effects on hepatic lipid content reduction of a therapy with Testosterone undecanoate 1000mg compared to placebo given for 52 weeks in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and hypogonadism.
The Mexican Consulate runs a Ventanilla de Salud (VDS) (Health Window) program in fifty locations nationwide. The VDS provides an opportunity to provide health services to members of the Mexican community. Some of the concerns previously identified during the work at the VDS were that some individuals did not always get enough to eat, or do not always have enough money for food. This sometimes leads to unhealthy food choices-- buying and preparing foods that are inexpensive but really not good for the particpant. The investigators would like to conduct focus group to help make changes to a new diet and exercise program at the VDS called SANOS which stands for SAlud y Nutrición para todOS. SANOS aims to provide information for living a healthier lifestyle including on how to eat healthy on a small budget and how to become more physically active. The hope is that learning to eat healthy without spending a lot of money and to find simple ways to increase physical activity (like walking) will be a first step in reducing obesity rates within the Mexican community that have led to increased risks for cancer, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes. Participants who reached 6-month follow-up during the COVID-19 pandemic, may be outside of the 12-month window post 6-month follow-up, and have not been able to complete HgbA1c and cholesterol measures will be invited to complete these measures in person at the VDS.
This study aimed the effect of the Accupedo pedometer smartphone app intervention, with goal setting of walking prescription of 10,000 steps per day, in overweight adults.
The US Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) recommends that providers screen children aged 6 years and older for obesity and offer or refer them to a comprehensive behavioral intervention (≥26 hours over a period of up to 12 months) to promote improvement in weight status. Family-based behavioral treatment (FBT) is an effective treatment that targets both child and parents and meets the USPSTF recommendations. By contrast, the American Medical Association (AMA) recommends a staged approach to childhood obesity screening and counseling, which begins with prevention counseling by the primary care provider (PCP) and includes assessment of weight status, patient/family motivation and readiness to change, promotion of healthy eating and activity habits, and use of health behavior change strategies. Our study compares a staged approach enhanced standard of care (eSOC) vs. eSOC + FBT, to provide families and PCPs with information on the best intervention approach for the behavioral treatment of childhood obesity. Our project seeks to fill the gap in the evidence on family-based weight management in primary care settings among diverse and underserved populations with a special focus on Black children, families insured by Medicaid, and sex differences.
This study will look at how the emptying of the participant's stomach after a meal is affected by semaglutide (a new medicine) compared to a "dummy" medicine. In addition, the study will also look at the effect of semaglutide on the participant's appetite and energy intake. Participants will either get semaglutide or "dummy" medicine - which treatment any participant gets is decided by chance. Participants will take 1 injection per week. The study medicine is injected with a thin needle in the stomach, thigh or upper arm. The study will last for about 27 weeks (from first treatment to last check-up). Participants will have 8 visits at the clinic with the study doctor.
