The Effect Custom Foot Orthotics on Comfort, Kinetics and Kinematics

The overarching aim of this project is to investigate the role of custom foot orthotics in a 'return to performance' framework as the ultimate part of the 'return to sport continuum'. The aim of this particular study is to investigate the effect of Custom Foot Orthotics (CFO) made from different materials on Running Economy (RE). Well trained recreational athletes (volunteers) will present to a physiology lab for a familiarisation running session where standard measurements (e.g. height, weight, shoe size, training history, foot shape) will be recorded. During this initial visit, our volunteers will also perform an incremental running test to determine the individual ventilatory threshold (VT). This will allow the use of individual speeds of a relative equal intensity that which will be used during the experimental session. A full explanation of the experimental procedures will be given and trialed. This session will last about 1 hour. For the experimental session (minimum of one week after the incremental test and receiving the custom-made orthotics), our volunteers will report to the same lab minimal 4 hours post prandial, having done no strenuous exercise for 12 hours before data collection. After a 10-minute warm up, Participants will run four 6-minute trials (four footwear conditions) with plenty of rest (5 minutes) between running trials to recover and answer short surveys on footwear comfort and readiness to start the next session. Also actual sprint performance will be tested. After a 10-minute general and sprint specific warm up twelve 5-second all out sprints (3 sprints per condition) with 4 minutes recovery between each sprint will be performed. This session will last about 2 and a half hours. The volunteers will run in four different footwear conditions: standardized running shoes + original liner of the sport shoe standardized running shoes + a custom-made orthotic from an EVA/TPU material standardized running shoes + a custom-made orthotic from an EVA material standardized running shoes + a custom-made orthotic from an TPU material

The primary objective of the study was to assess the bioequivalence between the test product (Albuterol Sulfate inhalation aerosol 108mcg per actuation) and the reference product (Proair HFA [albuterol sulfate] Inhalation Aerosol 90mcg per actuation) under fasting conditions. Bioequivalence would be demonstrated if the 90% confidence interval for the ratios of geometric means for AUC(0-t), AUC(0-inf), and Cmax between test products and reference products were completely contained within the FDA defined acceptance range of 80.00%-125.00%.

Background. Force control is one of the major parameter of motor activity. There is few study concerning the cortical activity imply for different levels of force during gait. Objective. To investigate cortex activation while walking an exoskeleton with 4 levels of guidance force in healthy controls. Methods. The investigators acquired near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) with a 20 channels device (Brite 24® ; Artinis) covering bilaterally most motor control brain regions during exoskeleton walking at different level of force (100 %, 50% aid, 0 % aid and 25 % of resistance) in 24 healthy controls. The investigators measured variations of oxyhemoglobin (HbO2) and deoxyhemoglobin (HbR). The technique was optimized by the use of reference channels (to correct for superficial hemodynamic interference).

A Study to (1) Compare How BI 456906 is Taken up in the Body of Healthy People and People With Liver Problems and (2) Find Out How People With Overweight and Obesity, With and Without Liver Problems, Tolerate Different Doses of BI 456906

This study is open to adults who have different levels of liver problems and adults who are healthy. People with or without overweight or obesity can take part. This study has 2 parts. The purpose of Part 1 is to find out whether having liver problems influences how BI 456906 is taken up in the body. The purpose of Part 2 is to find out whether having liver problems influences how people with overweight and obesity tolerate different doses of BI 456906. In Part 1, participants get a single injection of BI 456906 under their skin and stay at the study site for 2 nights afterwards. They are in the study for about a month. During this time, they visit the study site about 8 more times. The doctors compare the amount of BI 456906 in the blood of healthy people and people with liver problems. In Part 2, participants get 1 or 2 injections of BI 456906 once a week under their skin for 28 weeks. At the beginning, they get lower doses of BI 456906. Over time, they get higher doses until they reach a certain dose of BI 456906. This dose is then maintained until the end of the treatment. Participants in Part 2 are in the study for about 7 months. During this time, they visit the study site about 16 times and get about 15 phone calls from the site staff. The doctors record the number of people with health problems that could have been caused by treatment with BI 456906. They compare the results between participants with liver problems and those without liver problems. In both parts, doctors also regularly check participants' health and take note of any unwanted effects.
