Trans-Rectal Ultrasound of the Female Pelvis for Real-Time MRI-US Fusion Based Needle Tracking

The purpose of this study is to utilize transrectal ultrasound (TRUS) images of the intact and post-hysterectomy female pelvis in order to provide feasibility information for a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)-TRUS fusion based 3D needle navigation system for use in image guided brachytherapy. The fusion and needle guidance will be performed using Eigen Health's navigation system that currently provides targeted MR/Ultrasound fusion based prostate biopsies utilizing a proprietary 3D semi-robotic navigation system.

The Impact of a Telephone Reminiscence Program

The purpose of this study is to better understand how a telephone reminiscence program impacts reminiscence functions and mental health outcomes in community-dwelling older adults.This study will take 12 weeks to complete and will include approximately 90 study participants. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of two telephone reminiscence groups.They will be either assigned to begin a telephone reminiscence program immediately or in 6 weeks. Participants will receive automatic calls three times a week asking the meaningful questions about their lives. At week 1, week 6, and week 12, participants will also be asked to complete assessments via phone, by research assistants using four questionnaires.

Teaching Young Children Swim Survival Skills

This study is designed to evaluate whether commercially-available swim self-rescue schools are effective to teach children ages 12-23 months to stay safely alive floating in the water (or grasping the pool's edge) without adult intervention. The investigators will measure children's water self-rescue skills at baseline and then they will engage in commercially-available training over the course of several weeks. The investigators will then measure their skills again. Assessments will be conducted using a standardized protocol with a certified lifeguard present. Parents will also complete a short survey concerning child and family demographics and child and family swim and lifeguard training experience.

In this research study, the investigators are using examining how brain activity (electrical and blood flow) changes during tests of emotional processing and attention and memory in the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanner. Investigators are also using non-invasive brain stimulation to probe different parts of the brain and measuring brain activity (electrical and blood flow). This study includes healthy participants and researchers hope this will help us develop improved brain-based treatments for emotional difficulties like depression.

This study will be the largest study evaluating the effects of early antibiotics in children with comprehensive measures of neurodevelopment linked to genomic variants and microbiota interactions.

Increasing Food Literacy in Preschoolers to Reduce Obesity Risk

The goal of this clinical trial is to examine the effects of a nutrition education program on preschool children's food literacy and food acceptance, and to examine the added influence of a healthy eating curriculum and parent education on children's food knowledge and healthful food choices. The project will be evaluated with 450 children ages 3 to 5 years in center-based childcare programs serving predominantly Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)-eligible families in Pennsylvania. Outcomes for children who receive the added healthy eating curriculum will be compared to children in classrooms that only receive the nutrition education program.

CT for Personalized Mechanical Ventilation

The goal of this study is to compare two different ways of helping patients with a condition called sepsis who need help breathing using a machine called a ventilator. The investigators want to study which way of setting the ventilator is better for the lungs. Here are the main questions the investigators want to answer: 1. How does the amount of air in the lungs and the way it moves differ between the two ways? 2. How does the way air spreads out in different parts of the lungs differ between the two ways? In this study, the investigators will take special pictures of the lungs using a machine called a CT scan. The pictures will show us how much the lungs stretch and how much air is in different parts of the lungs. The investigators will compare two different ways of using the ventilator: one personalized for each patient based on their breathing, and another way that is commonly used. By comparing these two ways, the investigators hope to learn which one is better for helping patients with sepsis who need the ventilator. This information can help doctors make better decisions about how to care for these patients and improve their breathing.
