Utilizing Advocates and Supporters to Increase Lung Cancer Screening Rates in Eligible Participants

This clinical trial assesses the use of advocates and supporters of breast and lung cancer screening to increase lung cancer screening rates amongst eligible participants. Imaging-based cancer screening is utilized with variable frequency. Breast cancer screening with mammography has been widely accepted and is commonly used among eligible women. Lung screening with computed tomography scans is poorly used, despite the potential to decrease deaths from lung cancer. There are many reasons lung screening isn't being used when compared to breast screening, such as smoking stigma and fear, along with a lack of awareness of lung screening. By conducting this trial, researchers want to assess the effectiveness of advocates and supporters of breast and lung screening, and to learn about the psychological barriers to cancer screening, identifying those that are unique to lung screening.

Delivering Transcutaneous Auricular Neurostimulation to Regulate Platelet Activity in Healthy Human Subjects

This study is designed as a randomized, double-blind, sham-controlled, single-center research study in which healthy adults will be randomized 1:1 into one of two experimental groups, to receive transcutaneous auricular vagus nerve stimulation (taVNS) targeting either the auricular branch of the vagus nerve (ABVN) or tAN, which targets the ABVN and the auriculotemporal nerve (ATN): 1. Group 1: Sham taVNS followed by active taVNS 2. Group 2: Sham tAN followed by active tAN Participants will receive 30 minutes of sham stimulation (taVNS or tAN), followed by active stimulation (taVNS or tAN). Blood biomarkers (local and systemic) will be measured before and at several timepoints after stimulation to measure the molecular and cellular effects of the device.

This research is being done to see if it is safe to give investigational combination of study drugs (Pembrolizumab and IO102-103) before surgery to people with surgically resectable (removable) newly diagnosed or recurrent metastatic SCCHN. This will be done by watching participants closely for possible side effects from Pembrolizumab and IO102-103. In addition, participants will be monitored for any delays to their surgery due to the study drugs.

Floatation Experience in Nurses and Physicians

The goal of this observational study is to monitor the floatation experience and continue the program as long as deemed important. The main question it aims to answer is: will inventory wellbeing scores increase according to the number of floatation sessions accrued? Nurses (registered, practitioner, and anesthetist) and physicians, employed at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Trauma Center, Mercy Health, will be welcomed to participate in the floatation experience. Participants will be given an option to complete the Wellbeing Inventory survey prior to each floatation session.

Comparing Oral Versus Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy

This is an investigator initiated multisite pragmatic randomized controlled trial designed to demonstrate equivalent effectiveness with improved safety of early transition from intravenous (IV) antimicrobial therapy to complex outpatient oral antimicrobial therapy (COpAT) across various infectious diseases (endovascular, bone and joint, skin and soft tissue, pulmonary, gastrointestinal, and genitourinary infections). All patients referred for outpatient parenteral antimicrobial therapy (OPAT) will be evaluated by the research team with respect to inclusion/exclusion criteria. If determined eligible for enrollment, patients will be approached by a study investigator who will present the COPAT Trial. Once informed consent is obtained, patients will be randomized 2:1 using computer software into experimental or control (standard of care) group, respectively: Experimental: COpAT only on hospital discharge; Control: Conventional OPAT, OPAT transitioned to COpAT later in outpatient setting, or long-acting parenteral lipoglycopeptides. Both groups will be followed by an ID physician on the research team with in-person or telemedicine ID Clinic standard of care visits at 2, 6, and 12 weeks after hospital discharge. At the 6-week ID Clinic follow-up, patients will be asked to complete a patient satisfaction survey. The following 2 primary outcomes will be assessed: cure at 3 months using clinical (resolution of infection) and laboratory parameters (improvement in inflammatory markers) and adverse events related to antimicrobial therapy/vascular access complication. The following 3 secondary outcomes will be assessed: overall readmission at 3 months, readmission related to initial infection or antimicrobial therapy/vascular access complication at 3 months, and patient satisfaction at 6 weeks. The experimental group is being compared to standard of care in current clinical practice. As this is a pragmatic clinical trial, patients will not undergo additional invasive testing or procedures.
