Allogeneic Myeloma GM-CSF Vaccine With Lenalidomide in Multiple Myeloma Patients in Complete or Near Complete Remission

This study seeks to determine whether addition of an allogeneic myeloma vaccine can augment clinical responses to lenalidomide in patients with near complete remission (nCR), or complete remission (CR) leading to a significant improvement in progression-free survival.This main objective of this study is to compare the 2-year progression free survival of patients with multiple myeloma in CR or nCR, treated with lenalidomide plus an allogeneic myeloma vaccine in combination with lenalidomide (with or without Prevnar vaccine) or versus placebo in combination with lenalidomide (control arm).

The goal of CONSULT-BP is to train early-stage healthcare providers, including residents and nurse practitioner (NP) students, to mitigate providers' bias, improve communication skills, and enhance providers' ability to develop authentic and meaningful therapeutic alliances with patients. The study setting is an academic safety net hospital that serves a large non-White and poor population. We hypothesize that patients' outcomes (blood pressure levels) will be lower after the training intervention compared with before training (control) periods.

Growth Hormone Releasing Hormone Analog to Improve Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease and Associated Cardiovascular Risk

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is common in individuals with obesity and is a significant threat to public health, because it can lead to impaired liver function and liver failure. Growth hormone is a hormone produced in the pituitary gland that helps regulate metabolism and growth. Individuals with obesity, on average, secrete less growth hormone than individuals without obesity. There are data to suggest that growth hormone may help to reduce the amount of fat in the liver, and may also reduce inflammation in the liver, both of which would be helpful to individuals with NAFLD. The purpose of this study is to investigate whether treatment with a drug called tesamorelin, which is a growth hormone releasing hormone analogue, will decrease liver fat and improve liver inflammation and scarring in obese individuals with NAFLD.

Fractionated Gemtuzumab Ozogamicin Followed by Non-engraftment Donor Leukocyte Infusions for Relapsed/Refractory Acute Myeloid Leukemia

This study includes patients with relapsed acute leukemia who have previously been treated with standard treatment that is still present and there is no curative treatment option available. Researchers are studying whether the drug Gemtuzumab Ozogamicin, followed by an infusion of blood cells called leukocytes from a donor, can stimulate the immune system to potentially fight the leukemia. Gemtuzmab ozogamicin is a class of drugs known as an antibody drug conjugate. The drug is given on days 1,4,7. It is infused, attaches to cells with a certain marker on the surface (the majority of which would be leukemia cells). The drug is then internalized and the chemotherapy drug becomes activated. Gemtuzumab is currently FDA approved for the treatment of acute myeloid leukemia. The infusion of leukocytes to stimulate the immune system to fight your leukemia is investigational and has not been proven to cure cancer. This combination of Gemtuzumab Ozogamicin and donor leukocytes is not an FDA approved treatment and is investigational. Initially a total of 6 patients will be included in the study to assess the safety of the treatment. Once 6 patients have been treated and no unacceptable toxicities are seen, more patients will be enrolled. The study will treat up to 18 patients on the study.

Somatotopic Configuration of Distal Residual Limb Tissues in Lower Extremity Amputations

The hypothesis of this research protocol is that we will be able to redesign the manner in which lower limb amputations are performed so as to include biological actuators that will enable the successful employment of next generation lower extremity prostheses. The specific aims of the project are as follows: 1. To define a standardized approach to the performance of a novel operative procedure for both below knee (BKA) and above knee (AKA) amputations 2. To measure the degree of volitional motor activation and excursion achievable in the residual limb constructs, and to determine the optimal configuration and design of such constructs 3. To describe the extent of proprioceptive and other sensory feedback achievable through the employment of these modified surgical techniques 4. To validate the functional and somatosensory superiority of the proposed amputation technique over standard approaches to BKA and AKA 5. To develop a modified acute postoperative rehabilitation strategy suited to this new surgical approach

Safety and Tolerability of AAV8 Delivery of a Broadly Neutralizing Antibody in Adults Living With HIV: a Phase 1, Dose-escalation Trial

Background: The Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) attacks the immune system. Scientists have created a gene that could be transferred to the cells of people with HIV. The gene should tell the cells to make an antibody called VRC07. This antibody fights HIV. The VRC07 gene is packaged into a man-made version of a virus called AAV8. Objectives: To see if AAV8-VRC07 is safe. To study if it causes cells to produce the VRC07 antibody. Eligibility: Adults ages 18-65 who are HIV infected but in general good health and have been taking the same HIV medicine for at least 3 months Design: Participants were screened in a different protocol. Participants received the study product on day 1. It was injected one or more times in the upper arm or thigh using a needle. Participants weight was measured to calculate the dose. Women may have had a pregnancy test. For 7 days after getting the study product, participants checked their temperature with a thermometer. They noted any symptoms in an electronic or paper diary. Participants will have study visits. At each one, they will have a physical exam and medical history. They will have blood drawn and may have saliva collected. The study visit schedule is as follows: For 12 weeks: 1 visit a week For the next 12 weeks: 1 visit every other week Then about 1 visit a month After 1 year in the study: a visit every 6 months for the next 4 years. Total study participation is 5 years.

Pilot of Home Visitation Services for Patients With a Diabetes Diagnosis

This pilot program will assess whether an enhanced PCMH model with more intensive management and intervention can improve chronic disease patient outcomes, improve healthcare delivery, and reduce healthcare costs. Participants in this program are current patients at Leland Medical Clinic and are either enrolled, or eligible to enroll, in Mississippi's Medicaid program. This pilot program will test the effectiveness of high-quality interventions comprising of: (1) an educational intervention focusing on chronic disease management and (2) home visits by a trained community outreach worker. This pilot program will evaluate both process measures and outcome measures. Examples of process measures include, but are not limited to, the number of patients enrolled in each intervention group, the number of educational classes attended by a unique patient, and the number of home visits a unique patient receives. Examples of outcomes measures include, but are not limited to, change in patient HbA1C levels, change in patient LDL/HDL levels, change in patient blood pressure (systolic and diastolic) levels, and a comparison of patient cost data (total expenditure, expenditures by other major categories like hospital, pharmacy, etc.) After baseline measurements, patient clinical values will be acquired every 3 months for the duration of their engagement. This pilot project has three specific goals: Goal 1: Improve healthcare delivery for chronic disease patients enrolled in Mississippi Medicaid. Goal 2: Improve clinical outcomes for chronic disease patients enrolled in Mississippi Medicaid. Goal 3: Reduce Mississippi Medicaid costs for chronic disease patients enrolled in this pilot program.

This is an open-label, multi-center, international, Phase 1/2 study to assess the safety, PK and efficacy of CC-92480 monotherapy and in combination with dexamethasone in subjects with relapsed and refractory multiple myeloma (RRMM). All eligible subjects must be previously treated with at least 3 prior regimens including lenalidomide, pomalidomide, a proteasome inhibitor and an anti-CD38 antibody and be refractory to their last line of therapy.
