Maternal Brain Imaging in Opioid Use Disorder

This research study aims to learn more about opioid use disorder (OUD) during pregnancy and how outcomes for pregnant women and their newborns can be improved. During pregnancy, people with OUD are prescribed medication-assisted therapy (MAT). The investigators are interested to know how the medication is broken down by the body during pregnancy and how effective it is. The investigators also want to learn if this medication and OUD have any effect on the different parts of the brain when compared to mothers without OUD.

Allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) is one of the only curative intent therapies available for hematologic malignancies. HLA-matched sibling donors have historically offered the best clinical results but are unavailable for the majority of patients, while most patients do have readily available haploidentical donors. One of the risks of a haploidentical HCT is graft vs. host disease (GVHD), but it is difficult to reduce the incidence of GVHD without compromising the graft vs. leukemia (GVL) effect. The hypothesis of this study is that JAK inhibition with haploidentical HCT may mitigate GVHD and cytokine release syndrome while retaining the GVL effect and improving engraftment.

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy for Opioid Use Disorder: A Manualized Pilot Study

The goal of this pilot clinical trial is to test the feasibility of a 12-week manualized cognitive-behavioral therapy treatment for opioid use disorder in reducing or stopping illicit opioid use in a community setting. Participants will complete 12 weeks of therapy with a behavioral health counselor and will complete assessments at baseline and 12 weeks. Other outcomes include changes in mood and perceptions of recovery-related support after 12 weeks of therapy.

Model-informed Patient-specific Rehabilitation Using Robotics and Neuromuscular Modeling

Stroke is the third leading cause of death and the primary cause of long-term disability in the United States, affecting approximately 795,000 people each year. Hemiparesis, or unilateral weakness, is common after stroke and responsible for changes in muscle activation and movement patterns as well as declines in walking speed. It has been shown that increased walking speed directly corresponds to a higher quality of life in older adults and therefore, is often the goal of motor rehabilitation after stroke. However, there is no consensus on the best method for improving walking function after stroke and the results of post-stroke gait studies vary widely across sites and studies. Walking is one of the human's most important functions that serve survival, progress, and interaction. The force between the foot and the walking surface is very important. Although there have been many studies trying to understand this, there is a need for the development of a system that can advance research and provide new functionality. In this work, we will conduct a series of studies that attempt to analyze human gait and adaptations from different perspectives.
