There are about 173942 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in United States. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
The main purpose of this study is to determine if a novel peer support intervention (STEPP) is feasible among patients undergoing hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). The name of the intervention used in this research study is STEPP, a peer support intervention comprised of five learning modules on psychoeducation and supportive psychotherapy strategies, tailored to the unique needs of patients undergoing HSCT.
This phase II trial tests how well broccoli seed and sprout extract (BSSE) also called Avmacol extra strength (ES) works to help break down (detoxification) some of the cancer-causing chemicals (carcinogens) that firefighters are exposed to in order to help protect cells from smoke damage. Firefighters are routinely exposed to carcinogens during the course of their daily duties particularly from smoke exposure arising from active fire rescue, structural or incidental firefighting or burning, as well as flashover training. Flashover training simulator has been specifically designed for observation and recognition of fire behavior from rollover to flashover by varying fuel loading and altering ventilation. The simulator contains the fire behavior prop with smoke coming out and air being drawn in. All fires, including those in flashover training, release toxic and carcinogenic substances. These substances, many of which are known carcinogens, increase the risk of cancer in firefighters. Several studies to date have demonstrated that firefighters are at an increased risk of developing various malignancies including melanoma, multiple myeloma, acute myeloid leukemia, prostate, kidney, brain, and respiratory tract cancers among others. Broccoli extract has the potential to effectively enhance detoxification. This study may help researchers learn how BSSE can help break down chemicals that firefighters are exposed to during flashover training to help protect their cells from smoke-damage and reduce cancer risk.
The purpose of this study is to conduct a three-arm 52-week, randomized controlled trial with double blind treatment to evaluate the effects of a drug called tirzepatide in combination with an innovative, culturally-appropriate, intensive lifestyle intervention (ILI) delivered by community health workers (CHWs) in Latino adults with obesity. Participants will be randomized to 1) standard care (SC, n=25); 2) culturally-tailored dietary and behavioral intensive lifestyle intervention (ILI, n=25) provided by CHWs plus placebo; or 3) ILI plus tirzepatide (ILI-TRZ) for 52 weeks to evaluate the intervention's effect on: i) weight loss; ii) clinical efficacy (change in body fat mass, liver fat, intra-abdominal fat mass and intrahepatic triglyceride content, oral glucose tolerance, glycemic control, insulin sensitivity and b-cell function, plasma lipids, blood pressure, sleep duration, quality and behaviors, physical performance scores); iii) adherence and fidelity to the intervention (adherence to the intervention and barriers to long term adherence, quality-of-life, fidelity of the implementation by CHWs, CHW's and study participants' acceptability and satisfaction with the intervention and eating behaviors. Placebo or tirzepatide will be injected subcutaneously in the abdomen or thigh once a week for 12 months.
A randomized, blinded, placebo-controlled study assessing the impact of health and wellness products on gastrointestinal (GI) health and other health outcomes
Taking part in clinical trials usually favors a particular demographic group. But there is limited research available to explain what trial attributes affect the completion of these specific demographic groups. This research will admit a wide range of data on the clinical study experience of metastatic prostate cancer patients to determine which factors prevail in limiting a patient's ability to join or finish a trial. It will also try to analyze data from the perspective of different demographic groups to check for recurring trends which might yield insights for the sake of future patients with metastatic prostate cancer.
The study seeks to delve into the firsthand experiences of patients diagnosed with bladder cancer who partake in a separate clinical trial featuring a specific medical intervention. The primary emphasis will be on meticulously tracking the rates of trial completion and withdrawal among these individuals. By joining this clinical trial, individuals have the unique opportunity to contribute to the betterment of future bladder cancer patients and play an active role in advancing medical research.
The objective of this clinical investigation is to collect scientifically valid safety and effectiveness data on the Acuity 200™ (fluoroxyfocon A) Orthokeratology Contact Lens for Overnight Wear. The clinical performance data reported from this study is intended to be submitted to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH) in support of a new Premarket Application (PMA).
This trial will examine scheduled exposure to bright light in the morning and afternoon as a countermeasure to sleep fragmentation in older individuals with mild cognitive impairment.
The purpose of the study is to determine associations between fitness status, bacteria in the mouth, and the blood flow to muscle. This study is trying to find out if fitness status impacts the bacteria that are present in the oral microbiome (environment in the mouth) or the ability of the body to send blood to the skeletal muscle. Participants will complete all or some of the following: - A mouth swab to assess the bacteria in their mouths. - Produce a saliva sample into a tube. - Cycle on a bike until you reach maximum effort. - Undergo blood draws - Wear a 24-hour non-invasive device that monitors blood pressure. - Undergo a test to assess blood flow to the muscles measured with an ultrasound. - Drink 70mL (1/3 of a cup) of concentrated beetroot juice once
The objective of this study is to assess the pharmacokinetics (PK), safety, and tolerability of ABBV-903 or placebo in healthy adult Japanese and Han Chinese subjects.
