Subjects who complete dosing with rusfertide until the end-of-treatment visit of a Phase 2 or Phase 3 study and meet the inclusion/exclusion criteria for this study, are eligible to participate in this open-label study and continue treatment with rusfertide.

Effectiveness of Dry Needling in Linear Scar Tissue

Scar tissue can cause serious complications that significantly impact a patient's quality of life. Common complications include stiffness and contractions, which can restrict joint mobility and make daily activities challenging. In severe cases, these limitations can even prevent patients from fulfilling their work responsibilities or engaging in activities they enjoy. The deleterious effect of scar tissue on a patient's well-being is of utmost significance. However, several therapeutic approaches have been proposed to manage scar tissue complications. Enhancing scar tissue compliance can help patients regain their functional abilities and reduce limitations. One such approach is dry needling, a technique used to improve the flexibility of myofascial tightness. Nevertheless, the effectiveness of dry needling in improving scar tissue compliance remains debatable. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the therapeutic effects of dry needling on complications resulting from linear hypertrophic scars caused by surgery or trauma.

Walking and Blood Pressure in Older Adults With Respiratory Impairment.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of an 8-week walking program on blood pressure in inactive older adults with respiratory impairment, a condition where lung function is sub-optimal for a person's age. Older adults with respiratory impairment have greater risks of death by cardiovascular disease (CVD) compared to those without respiratory impairment, and this may be partly driven by higher resting blood pressure. One way to lower blood pressure is to increase the number of daily steps achieved throughout the course of everyday life ('lifestyle steps'), and previous research shows that an additional 3,000 lifestyle steps/day is effective for achieving this. However, whether an increase in daily lifestyle steps is effective for reducing blood pressure in senior-community dwelling older adults with respiratory impairment is unknown. Understanding how increasing daily steps impacts blood pressure in this understudied population is important for informing future strategies for tackling cardiovascular disease risk in those with lung dysfunction.

Effects of Framing on Medication Beliefs, Intentions to Take Medication, Adherence, and Asthma Control

The goal of this study is to examine the effects of framed mobile messages on young adults' beliefs about their daily Inhaled Corticosteroids (ICS), intentions to take their ICS, adherence, and asthma control. College students (18-29 years) who owned a mobile phone and had a diagnosis of asthma with a prescription for an ICS will be recruited. Participants will be randomized to receive either gain- or loss-framed mobile messages three times per week for eight weeks. Outcomes including beliefs, intentions, adherence, and asthma control will be assessed.

Particularly, little is known about which patients are at greatest risk of procedural complications, such as the timing and onset of conduction disturbances necessitating permanent pacemaker implantation, and how such patients are managed. On this background, the TRIPLACE Registry - an investigator-initiated global multicenter registry - is aimed at better understanding the safety and efficacy of orthotopic TTVR.

Using Urine Samples to Identify Lung Cancer

The researchers are doing this study to test the ability of an animal biosensor platform (ABP) to detect NSCLC. Participants in this study will either be diagnosed with NSCLC, suspected to have NSCLC, or have not been diagnosed or suspected to have NSCLC. The ABP test uses laboratory animals that are trained to detect (by smell) different chemicals in urine. Studies show that people with lung cancer have unique chemicals in their urine that are not present in people without lung cancer, and researchers think these chemicals can be used to identify people with lung cancer without the need for invasive procedures (like biopsy).
