There are about 173942 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in United States. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
Despite medical and surgical advances, long-term survival in liver transplant (LT) recipients is compromised by an increased risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) after transplant, the mechanisms of which are still not fully understood. TMAO is an attractive therapeutic target to improve vascular health and diastolic function toward preventing CVD in LT patients. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to better understand the role of TMAO in cardiovascular dysfunction patients with chronic kidney disease.
The purpose of this study is to assess whether oxygen supplementation during sleep improves working memory and other clinical and patient-reported outcomes among children who have Down Syndrome (DS) with moderate to severe Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA).
This randomized control trial aims to compare the efficacy of triclosan-coated barbed suture (TCB) versus conventional non-barbed polydioxanone (PDS) suture in the closure of the abdominal fascia after emergency exploratory laparotomy. The study addresses the common complications of incisional surgical site infections (SSI) and fascial dehiscence (FD) following emergency exploratory laparotomy. The primary objective is to assess the effectiveness of triclosan-coated barbed suture and conventional non-barbed suture in reducing the rates of incisional SSI and FD within 30 days postoperatively. The study population comprises adult patients undergoing emergent laparotomy for traumatic injuries or acute intraabdominal pathology. This prospective, single-blinded randomized control trial will be conducted at Los Angeles General Medical Center. Patients will be randomized to receive either triclosan-coated barbed suture or conventional non-barbed suture for abdominal fascial closure, with a standard closure technique employed. Patients will be followed up for 30 days postoperatively to monitor surgical site infections, fascial dehiscence, and other outcomes. Statistical analysis will be conducted to compare outcomes between the study arms, assessing the efficacy of triclosan-coated barbed suture in reducing the incidence of SSI and FD, along with secondary outcomes.
This study will attempt to use magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to take a picture of the brain to learn about changes that occur in the brain during Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) in people receiving this treatment for depression.
The purpose of this clinical trial is to understand the health effects of a new oral nicotine pouch, and also to understand if this product can help reduce traditional cigarette smoking. The main aims are: 1. Understand the impact of nicotine pouch use on toxicant exposure biomarkers, and indicators of potential harms to health. 2. Examine the influence of nicotine pouch use on conventional tobacco product use (cigarettes). Participants will be randomized to one of six nicotine pouch groups (3 nicotine strengths, each with 2 potential flavors) to use over 16 weeks and asked to reduce their cigarette smoking over that time by at least 75% by substituting with the use of the nicotine pouches. Researchers will compare the outcomes of the different nicotine pouch strengths and flavors to each other. Participants will be asked to complete study questionnaires and provide urine, exhaled carbon monoxide, and mouth cell samples, and other health measurements.
To learn about the safety of a drug called axicabtagene ciloleucel given in combination with radiation therapy to patients with relapsed/refractory FL.
The goal of this study is to learn how long-term use of estrogen affects blood vessels in healthy adults who were assigned male at birth. Participants will: - give one blood draw of 5 mL - have a camera placed under the tongue to take pictures of blood vessels - have 2 laser Doppler microdialysis catheters placed on the forearm to monitor blood vessels before and after local drug infusion Researchers will compare blood vessel function of those who take estrogen supplements to those who do not.
A child's ability to effectively communicate with peers, parents, and caregivers impacts their level of independence and quality of personal relationships. This retrospective study will compare the speech development of participants aged 2 - 17 years that received 40 sessions of HBOT at 2.0 ATA to those who had not. Both groups will have a verbal assessment every six months. There were 32 subjects in the HBO group and 33 subjects in the non-HBO group. The statistical analysis will focus on whether Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy made a significant difference in Verbal Behavior Milestones Assessment and Placement Program (VB-MAPP) or Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills (ABLLS) results.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is the treatment of choice for youth anxiety. However, up to 80% of youth with anxiety disorders do not access the services they need. Child CBT clinics nationwide have extremely long waits, on the order of 10-12 months. This leads to a vicious cycle, as children waiting for care experience worsening symptoms and decreased motivation, so that by the time they access care, their needs are more intensive and the treatment lasts longer and it takes longer for new children to be able to be assigned. Recently, single-session interventions (SSIs) have been developed that enable children to access CBT skills. The proposed randomized trial will evaluate the effects of a brief, web-based, self-guided SSI designed to reduce parent accommodation of children's anxiety, a parenting behavior that has been shown to maintain and worsen child anxiety. The main aim of the study is to examine whether the SSI reduces parent accommodation. As a secondary aim, the investigators will explore whether the SSI reduces children's anxiety symptoms over the first 6 months of CBT. The investigators will recruit parents of children who are on the waitlist to receive outpatient CBT. Results may suggest a promising approach to intervene with parents and children waiting to receive therapy.
The goal of this clinical trial is to further substantiate the effectiveness and safety of TheraClearX as a stand-alone treatment of mild to moderate acne in healthy teenagers and adults ages 12-40 over the course of 7 weeks. Participants will be asked to have TheraClearX treatments weekly for 6 sessions, attend a follow up appointment 2 weeks after the 6th session, have photos taken of their face and answer questionnaires related to their acne.
