Inner Engineering Yoga Program on Short and Long Term Health Effects (ISHA-Impact): A Longitudinal Study

This study will include any participant who registered, and plans to attend the Inner Engineering In-Person Completion Course. In 2019, this course was offered in: Los Angeles in March, Philadelphia in April and Toronto & Dallas in November. This study has been involved in every IECO Course since 2019 and is still active today. Beginning in August 2021, investigators will recruit for the August Inner Engineering In-Person Completion Course. Investigators anticipate that this study can include up to 5,000 study participants. Participants would attend this course and complete the pre-modules regardless of whether or not they participate in this study.

Cessation Screening Project

This project will use the Multiphase Optimization Strategy (MOST) to guide the development of optimized treatment strategies for the two most effective smoking cessation medications (Combination Nicotine Replacement [C-NRT] and varenicline). The investigators will recruit daily smokers from primary care to participate in a fully crossed, 2x2x2x2 factorial experiment (N=608) that evaluates 4 different factors: 1) Medication Type (Varenicline vs. C-NRT), 2) Preparation Medication (4 Weeks vs. Standard), 3) Medication Duration (Extended [24 weeks] vs. Standard [12 weeks]); and 4) Counseling (Intensive vs. Minimal). Participants will complete assessments one week pre-quit and then assessments of smoking status, treatment use, side effects, potential treatment mechanisms (e.g., withdrawal, self-efficacy) during the first week post-target quit date (TQD) and at Weeks 2, 4, 12, 20, 26, and 52 post-target quit date. These data will be used to examine the main and interactive effects of these four factors on various outcomes, with biochemically confirmed 12-month abstinence serving as the primary outcome. These data will also be used to determine which factors and combinations of factors are most effective with regard to 12-month biochemically confirmed abstinence and cost, thereby identifying optimized varenicline and C-NRT treatments, with each developed to yield especially great benefit. These optimized treatments will then be tested in the Optimized Care Project. The investigators will also examine the relative effects of each medication on particular outcomes (e.g., 12-month abstinence).

This phase II trial studies how well the combination of decitabine, venetoclax, and ponatinib work for the treatment of Philadelphia chromosome-positive acute myeloid leukemia or myeloid blast phase or accelerated phase chronic myelogenous leukemia. Drugs used in chemotherapy such as decitabine, work in different ways to stop the growth of cancer cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Venetoclax may stop the growth of cancer cells by blocking Bcl-2, a protein needed for cancer cell survival. Ponatinib may stop the growth of cancer cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Giving decitabine, venetoclax, and ponatinib may help to control Philadelphia chromosome-positive acute myeloid leukemia or myeloid blast phase or accelerated phase chronic myelogenous leukemia.

Improving Rhode Island's Tuberculosis Preventive Services in Primary Care

This study explores primary care team members' knowledge, attitudinal, and skill gaps related to LTBI testing and treatment. The gaps identified will inform the design of a survey and telementoring educational program (TB infection ECHO course). The EMR data query will further explore the reach of the ECHO model. The hypothesis for this study is that the TB infection ECHO course will be feasible, will have a significant impact on primary care provider participants' learning and performance related to LTBI testing and treatment in their primary care practices, and will increase the number of LTBI tests and treatment prescribed in primary care.

Assessing Visual Processing in High Anxiety

High trait anxiety, a stable personality trait, is a risk factor for psychiatric disorders. Individuals with high trait anxiety have difficulty differentiating safety from threat, including visual information like emotional faces. This study aims to characterize visual system function in high trait anxiety. A portion of this study involves an intervention. For the intervention portion, a subset of participants will be asked to return for a lab visit upon completing the first portion of the study (multimodal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan). During this follow up visit, participants will complete a computer task that involves looking at faces and identifying emotions. Participants will complete this task either six months or twelve months after their MRI scan visit. Results from this research have the potential to inform novel therapies that target the visual system in individuals at risk for the development of psychiatric disorders.
