Treatment With Dinutuximab, Sargramostim (GM-CSF), and Isotretinoin in Combination With Irinotecan and Temozolomide After Intensive Therapy for People With High-Risk Neuroblastoma (NBL)

This phase II trial studies if dinutuximab, GM-CSF, isotretinoin in combination with irinotecan, and temozolomide (chemo-immunotherapy) can be given safely to patients with high-risk neuroblastoma after Consolidation therapy (which usually consists of two autologous stem cell transplants and radiation) who have not experienced worsening or recurrence of their disease. Dinutuximab represents a kind of cancer therapy called immunotherapy. Unlike chemotherapy and radiation, dinutuximab targets the cancer cells without destroying nearby healthy cells. Sargramostim helps the body produce normal infection-fighting white blood cells. Isotretinoin helps the neuroblastoma cells become more mature. These 3 drugs (standard immunotherapy) are already given to patients with high-risk neuroblastoma after Consolidation because they have been proven to be beneficial in this setting. Chemotherapy drugs, such as irinotecan and temozolomide, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. They may also affect how well immunotherapy works on neuroblastoma cells. Giving chemo-immunotherapy after intensive therapy may work better in treating patients with high-risk neuroblastoma compared to standard immunotherapy.

CT-guided Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy and MRI-guided Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy for Prostate Cancer, MIRAGE Study

This phase III trial studies compares CT-guided stereotactic body radiation therapy and MRI-guided stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) in treating prostate cancer. Image-guided SBRT is a standard treatment for prostate cancer, which combines imaging of the cancer within the body with the delivery of therapeutic radiation doses produced on a linear accelerator machine. Imaging modalities for image-guided SBRT can be either computed tomography imaging (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), or a combination of the two. This research is being done to help determine whether there are benefits to MRI-guidance over CT-guidance in patients who are receiving the same radiation dose by SBRT to treat prostate cancer.

The Influence of Tai Chi Practice on Blood Pressure and Brain Health Among Older Adults With Hypertension (ACTION)

High blood pressure and poor cognitive function are two common health problems among older adults in the United States. They are also closely related because high blood pressure may lead to negative changes in brain structure and function such as poor brain blood flow that can cause poor cognitive function. Executive function is one type of cognitive function that let people plan and perform difficult tasks. It is commonly damaged by high blood pressure. It is also very important for older adults because they need good executive function to live on their own. Tai Chi is a good exercise option for older adults because it is safe, fun, and social. Research studies show that Tai Chi can reduce blood pressure and improve cognitive function, especially executive function. However, researchers do know if these heart and brain health benefits of Tai Chi are connected. In the ACTION study, researchers will first measure how a single session of Tai Chi followed by a 12-week online Tai Chi program with easy movements changes blood pressure and cognitive function, focusing on executive function. Then, researchers will test if these changes in heart and brain health are connected, and if they are connected through the changes in brain structure and function. Both the single session and 12-week online Tai Chi program will be practiced by a group of older adults with high blood pressure and normal cognitive function. They will be new to Tai Chi and not exercising regularly. The hypotheses of the ACTION study are that practicing Tai Chi is good for the heart and brain of older adults with high blood pressure. Specifically, relaxing Tai Chi with gentle movements will reduce blood pressure, and thereby improve cognitive function, particularly executive function.

This study will test the safety of Quad Shot radiation therapy using 2 different treatment schedules to find out what effects, if any, this treatment has on people with advanced NSCLC who are receiving systemic therapy for their cancer. The Quad Shot treatment schedule reduces the number of days needed to deliver the radiation treatments, which may be less disruptive to systemic therapy schedules.

This project will develop a "Stroke Awareness Team" including training of Oneida Health Service Coaches working in partnership with the UW team for a population-based health awareness program. This team will develop a series of Oneida Nation Healthy Living and Stroke Awareness Events (from now on health events) to provide education as to the severity of the problem as well as our standard therapies for lifestyle change and risk factor avoidance. This will include education of the healthy members of the tribe including the children to identify signs of stroke and TIA in their elders as well as to develop healthy lifestyles at the earliest of ages to influence the elders to modify their risks.

Birth parents of young children who have been placed into foster care are a highly vulnerable population of caregivers. Little is known about the ability of existing prevention programs to intervene with birth parents who have recently been reunified with their children under the age of six. This project aims to evaluate a brief, home-visiting intervention model with a sample of reunified birth parents, examining its effectiveness to improve parenting and child wellbeing, and reduce reoccurrence of maltreatment and reunification failure.
