NCT ID: NCT03629964 Withdrawn - Brain Cancer Clinical Trials

Study to Develop Head Stabilizer for Use During Brain Radiation Therapy

Start date: July 16, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to begin to develop a device to stabilize the head during stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS). SRS is a therapy for brain disorders and cancers that uses a precise dose of radiation to treat a disease, and is different from whole brain radiation. This study aims to stabilize patient head motions during radiation therapy through the use of a special experimental head holder. The investigators would like to first see how the experimental device works in whole brain radiation.

NCT ID: NCT03629899 Withdrawn - Clinical trials for Retinitis Pigmentosa

RETINA IMPLANT Alpha AMS in Blind Patients With Retinitis Pigmentosa

Start date: March 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The goal of this study is to transfer the surgical implantation technique and evaluate the safety and effectiveness of the RETINA IMPLANT Alpha AMS to restore limited visual function and functional vision in blind Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP) patients who are at the Light Perception (LP) or No Light Perception vision level (NLP). The safety of the implantation procedure and the long-term presence of the RETINA IMPLANT Alpha AMS will be assessed with clinical exams and objective clinical tests for the absence of any new permanent damage to the structure and function of the implanted eye with no permanent injury to the health and/or well being of the implanted patient as a result of the surgical procedure or presence of the implant. The effectiveness of the RETINA IMPLANT Alpha AMS will be evaluated by measuring limited visual function and functional vision in implanted subjects with the device "ON" and "OFF" in a randomized order. The ability to restore limited vision in blind RP patients with LP vision or NLP will reduce their disability and morbidity and provide a viable option to combat their disease and improve their lives.

NCT ID: NCT03628144 Withdrawn - Clinical trials for Non-small Cell Lung Cancer

Immunonutrition to Reduce Toxicities in Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

Start date: July 2020
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to assess whether either or both nutrition supplements (Impact® Advanced Recovery or Boost® High Protein) ingested prior to and during concurrent chemoradiotherapy decreases toxic side effects of treatment in Stage IIIA-B non-small cell lung cancer.

NCT ID: NCT03627234 Withdrawn - Quality of Life Clinical Trials

Same Day Discharge vs. Overnight Stay After Hysterectomy

SDD
Start date: July 10, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

In this study patients are randomized between same-day discharge and overnight stay after undergoing a minimally invasive hysterectomy or myomectomy. The goal is to both compare patients' satisfaction and safety and quality of life (QOL) as well as financial consequences between the two groups. The investigators hope to demonstrate that same-day discharge is safe and feasible for most patients with the same level of satisfaction and safety and QOL compared to overnight stay. And also the investigators seek to determine which demographic, medical, social and intra-operative factors influence duration of admission, satisfaction, safety and QOL.

NCT ID: NCT03626870 Withdrawn - Inflammation Clinical Trials

Effects of Resistin on Neutrophil Function

Start date: September 1, 2018
Phase:
Study type: Observational

To assess the effect of resistin on neutrophil migration and intracellular bacterial killing

NCT ID: NCT03626727 Withdrawn - Clinical trials for Traumatic Brain Injury

Evaluation of the Efficacy of Sodium Oxybate (Xyrem®) in Treatment of Post-traumatic Narcolepsy and Post-traumatic Hypersomnia

Start date: September 2020
Phase: Early Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

The study evaluates whether the use of Sodium Oxybate (Xyrem®) in TBI patients will be effective in reducing symptoms of post traumatic narcolepsy and post traumatic hypersomnia.

NCT ID: NCT03626376 Withdrawn - Clinical trials for Herpes Simplex Virus Keratitis

Topical Corticosteroid Use in Addition to Oral Antivirals for Prevention of Recurrence of Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV) Keratitis

Start date: December 10, 2019
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

This is a prospective, randomized clinical trial looking to determine the role of prophylactic treatment with topical corticosteroids in preventing recurrences in patients with a history of infectious epithelial keratitis, stromal keratitis, endotheliitis, or iridocyclitis. Patients will be enrolled to one of two treatment arms: Control arm: oral acyclovir 400 mg BID OR valacyclovir 500 mg daily or Study arm: oral acyclovir 400 mg BID OR valacyclovir 500 mg qdaily + topical corticosteroid eye drops.

NCT ID: NCT03625999 Withdrawn - Clinical trials for Autism Spectrum Disorder

A Novel Intervention for Training Auditory Attention in Adolescents With Autism Spectrum Disorder

Start date: August 1, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Background: Previous research has shown that individuals with ASD often have difficulties coping with auditory stimuli in the environment. These difficulties can be extremely debilitating, lead to anxiety and disruptive behaviors, and interfere with the ability to process and understand speech. Research Design: In previous research, the investigators have identified a brain marker associated with poor auditory attention that can provide a direct readout of auditory processing issues. The investigators will develop and test a cognitive/behavioral intervention (a tablet-based game app) that is highly engaging and accessible to a wide range of individuals with ASD. The intervention is designed to train adolescents with ASD to adapt and attend to auditory cues. Objectives: To evaluate whether the intervention leads to improvement in auditory attention as assessed by behavior changes over the course of training; to investigate the impact of the intervention on behavioral assessment of problems hearing speech in noisy environments, neural processing of sounds, and changes in parent report on responses to sounds that impact that daily lives of the participants; and finally- to determine which adolescents with ASD benefit the most and least from interventions such as this one. We hypothesize that we can elicit changes in the neural processing of sounds for adolescents with ASD via training in the form of the tablet-based game we are developing. If we are successful, this could lead to other interventions for persons with ASD in the hopes of improving the auditory difficulties they face.
