Effectiveness of Video-based Yoga Practices for Sedentary Women in Pandemic Days

This is an observational study aiming to Examine the effects of video-based yoga compared to face-to-face yoga and physical exercise practices on the physical features, respiratory capacity and sleep quality of sedentary women in pandemic days. The pranayama (respiration), asana (poses), and meditation were given to the face-to-face yoga group, and the same exercises of the face-to-face yoga group were recorded in the video for the video-based yoga group. The exercises for respiration, muscle strengthening, stabilization, and flexibility were given face-to-face to the physical exercise group.

The Effect of Ylang Ylang Oil and Lemon Oil

This study was conducted as a randomized controlled experimental study.To evaluate the effects of aromatherapy, one of the non-pharmacological pain methods, on labor pain and anxiety in the active phase in primiparous pregnant women. The main questions it aims to answer are: Is ylang ylang oil applied as an inhaler effective in reducing labor pain and anxiety? Is lemon oil applied as an inhaler effective in reducing labor pain and anxiety? Participants randomized according to the closed envelope method into the lemon oil group (n=15), ylang ylang oil group (n=15) and control group (n=15). In the active phase (cervical dilatation ≥5), a drop of essential oil was instilled onto square cotton balls to the intervention groups and renewed as one drop every hour until labor occurred. In the control group, 1 drop of saline was dripped onto square cotton balls. Visual pain scale (VAS) and state anxiety ınventory were applied to the intervention groups and control groups before the application. After the application, VAS and state anxiety ınventory were evaluated at 5-7 cm dilatation, and only with VAS at 8-10 cm dilatation. The trait anxiety ınventory was administered to the volunteers after birth.

Quantitative EEG Changes Following Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation in Patients With Post Stroke (EEG-rTMS)

Quantitative EEG (qEEG) has been used as an effective tool in the diagnosis and prognosis of brain-related diseases. In the literature, a variety of qEEG parameters have been proven informative in the prognosis of stroke. In addition, it has been demonstrated that changes in certain qEEG parameters during traditional/task-specific rehabilitation approaches are correlated with clinical outcomes of functional motor recovery. Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) has been proposed as a non-invasive and therapeutic treatment used to accelerate and enhance the recovery process of motor function in stroke patients. Many studies have reported that inhibiting contralesional rTMS may have positive effects in stroke patients with severe upper extremity motor impairment. In this context, the aim of the proposed study is to investigate whether there is a correlation between the change in qEEG parameters and the improvement of motor functions associated with rTMS treatment and to provide an electrophysiological prognostic biomarker of inhibiting contralesional rTMS for stroke patients.

GCF PLAP-1, Sclerostin and TNF-α Levels in Periodontitis

Periodontal ligament-associated protein-1 (PLAP-1) and sclerostin play an important role in the suppression of bone formation. Tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) is an important proinflammatory cytokine involved in periodontal bone loss. This study aims to investigate gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) PLAP-1, sclerostin and TNF-α levels in individuals with periodontal disease. Totally 71 systemically healthy and non-smoker individuals consisting of stage 3 grade C periodontitis (n=23), gingivitis (n=24) and periodontally healthy (n=24) were enrolled. Periodontal status was evaluated by measuring the full-mouth clinical periodontal parameters. GCF PLAP-1, sclerostin and TNF-α total amounts were measured by ELISA. Data were analyzed using non-parametric statistical tests.

The Effect of Education Given at Different Times Before a Breast Biopsy

Aim: This study was conducted to investigate the effect of education given at different times before a breast biopsy on anxiety, readiness for the procedure, pain, and satisfaction levels in women. Background: A breast biopsy is an invasive procedure that causes pain and anxiety. Patient education is an effective and evidence-based nursing intervention that reduces pain and anxiety levels. Design: The study is a single-center, uncontrolled randomized clinical trial. Method: Participants (n: 60) in the study were randomly assigned into three groups. The first group (n: 20) was given education about the breast biopsy 1-2 weeks before the procedure, the second group (n: 20) was given education on the day of the procedure, and the third group (n: 20) was given education at two different times, the first 1-2 weeks before the procedure and the second on the day of the procedure. Research data were collected by using a Descriptive Characteristics Form, the State Anxiety Inventory, and a Patient Assessment Form.
