Secondary objectives: - MSHQ-EjD improvement by visit - Improvement in International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS) total score, voiding and filling subscores, nocturia and bother score at end-point and by visit - Onset of action of XATRAL 10mg OD - Tolerability of XATRAL 10mg OD including occurrence of acute urinary retention.

NCT ID: NCT00401531 Completed - Hepatitis B Clinical Trials

Comparison of a DTaP-IPV-HB-PRP~T Combined Vaccine to Infanrix™-Hexa, When Administered With Prevnar® in Thai Infants

Start date: October 2006
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of the study is to provide immunogenicity and safety data of the investigational hexavalent vaccine when it is given concomitantly (the same day at separate injection sites) with Prevnar, according to the 2-4-6 month immunization schedule, following one dose of HB vaccine at birth. Primary Objective: To demonstrate that the hexavalent DTaP-IPV-HB-PRP~T combined vaccine induces an immune response that is at least as good as the response following Infanrix™-Hexa in terms of seroprotection rates to HB and PRP, one month after a 3 dose primary series (2, 4, and 6 months), when co-administered with Prevnar® Secondary Objectives: Immunogenicity: To describe in each group the immunogenicity parameters to each vaccine component (for DTaP-IPV-HB-PRP~T and Infanrix™-Hexa) one month after the third dose of the primary series. Safety: To describe the overall safety after each injection.

NCT ID: NCT00400738 Completed - HIV Infections Clinical Trials

The Pharmacokinetics of Double Boosted Protease Inhibitors in Antiretroviral-naive HIV-1 Infected Patients

Start date: March 2004
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

Treatment with only protease inhibitors might benefit HIV patients. Laboratory data have shown that the combination of saquinavir with lopinavir and ritonavir may a good regimen. This study will explore this idea.

NCT ID: NCT00400478 Completed - Clinical trials for Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma (DLBCL)

A Multicentre, Randomized Phase III Study of Rituximab as Maintenance Treatment Versus Observation in Patients With Aggressive B-cell Lymphoma: NHL-13

Start date: January 2006
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This is a randomized, open label, phase III study to evaluate the ability of rituximab maintenance therapy to prolong event-free survival in aggressive NHL. Patients will be screened after successful standard induction therapy (CR or Cru following standard R-CHOP-like therapy with 8 infusions of rituximab plus CHOP-like chemotherapy (4-8 cycles). Patients will be followed until an event occurs as defined in the protocol. To evaluate the clinical efficacy of rituximab maintenance therapy as compared to observation in patients with aggressive B-cell Non-Hodgkins lymphoma or follicular lymphoma grade 3b who have achieved a complete remission after appropriate first-line therapy, measured by event-free survival (EFS), 440 patients with DLCBL or follicular NHL grade 3 (220 per arm) will be recruited.

NCT ID: NCT00400465 Completed - Thyroid Neoplasms Clinical Trials

Is the Routine Pressure Dressing After Thyroidectomy Necessary?

Start date: December 2006
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

Thyroidectomy is an operation that is commonly performed. After an operation a pressure dressing by Hypafix is usually used due to the belief that it will help to reduce complications such as post-operative bleeding or haematoma. However, the practice is uncomfortable to patients and makes it hard to detect early haematomas. We carried out a prospective randomised study to study the role of pressure dressing after thyroid surgery by evaluating the amount of fluids collected in the operative bed by ultrasonography compared with normal dressing.

NCT ID: NCT00398684 Completed - HIV Infections Clinical Trials

Nevirapine Plus Zidovudine to Prevent Perinatal HIV in Thailand

Start date: January 2001
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study was to assess the efficacy of a single dose of the drug nevirapine (NVP) given to pregnant women at onset of labor and to their infant 48-72 hours after birth in addition to standard oral zidovudine (ZDV or AZT) prophylaxis for the prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV-1.

NCT ID: NCT00398645 Completed - Asthma Clinical Trials

A Randomized Study To Evaluate The Efficacy And Safety Of An Investigational Drug In Adolescent And Adult Subjects With Persistent Asthma.

Start date: November 15, 2006
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

This study is designed to determine if the investigational drug is effective and safe in individuals with asthma.

NCT ID: NCT00396877 Completed - Clinical trials for Heart Defects, Congenital

Efficacy And Safety Of Clopidogrel In Neonates /Infants With Systemic To Pulmonary Artery Shunt Palliation

CLARINET
Start date: November 2006
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

Contemporary management of cyanotic congenital heart disease includes three stages of surgery. Incidence of shunt thrombosis and death between the two first stages of palliation remains important. The primary objective of the study is to evaluate the efficacy of Clopidogrel 0.2 mg/kg/day for the reduction of all cause mortality and shunt related morbidity in neonates or infants with cyanotic congenital heart disease palliated with a systemic-to-pulmonary artery shunt (e.g. modified Blalock Taussig Shunt [BTS]). The secondary objective was to assess the safety of Clopidogrel in the study population.

NCT ID: NCT00391872 Completed - Clinical trials for Acute Coronary Syndrome

A Comparison of Ticagrelor (AZD6140) and Clopidogrel in Patients With Acute Coronary Syndrome

PLATO
Start date: October 2006
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

Ticagrelor is a new, reversible binding, anti-platelet medication. Anti-platelet medications work to prevent the formation of blood clots. Ticagrelor is being developed as a treatment for patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS). ACS is a term that is used to describe both heart attacks in progress or the imminent threat of a heart attack. ACS is usually caused by the formation of a blood clot in an artery that partially or totally blocks the blood supply to a portion of the heart muscle. Ticagrelor will be compared with clopidogrel to determine which drug, when either is used in conjunction with aspirin, is better at reducing deaths from vascular causes, future heart attacks and/or strokes in patients with ACS.
