The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of JNJ-78934804 as compared to guselkumab and golimumab in participants with moderately to severely active ulcerative colitis who have had an inadequate initial response, loss of response, or intolerance to one or more approved advanced therapy.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of JNJ-78934804 at Week 48 compared to guselkumab and golimumab.
BACKGROUND: Preeclampsia (PE) is a serious syndrome that affects 3-7% of all pregnant women. PE is characterized by hypertension and kidney problems after the 20th week of pregnancy and is associated with an increased risk of serious cardiovascular complications including death in both mother and fetus. The underlying disease mechanisms are not clear, but that there are changes in the vessels and their function is generally accepted. Today, there is a lack of medical treatment in the form of medicines. HYPOTHESIS: So-called oxidative stress and deficiency of the vasodilator nitric oxide (NO) play an important role in disease onset and complications in PE. WORK PLAN: This interdisciplinary project combines clinical and experimental studies to investigate the significance of oxidative stress and NO deficiency in PE. We have shown in previous studies that nitrate, which is found in high levels in lettuce and beets, can be converted to NO in the body. In a feasibility study, blood samples were taken from women with PE and healthy pregnant women. Analysis of these samples has shown that women with PE and their newborns have lower levels of nitrate and markers of NO in the blood. In a clinical study, the physiological effects (cardiovascular function, renal function, metabolic function) of an increased daily nitrate intake (in the form of a specially developed beetroot juice) are examined in patients with PE. Blood and urine samples are collected before and after beetroot intervention and during childbirth when umbilical cord and placenta samples are also collected. The samples are analyzed with biochemical analyzes with regard to e.g. oxidative stress and NO. IMPORTANCE: The project is expected to contribute new and important knowledge regarding the disease mechanisms, which may enable new treatment strategies in PE.
The underlying pathophysiology following traumatic brain injury (TBI) in how different neurodegenerative conditions are developed are still unknown. Different neuroinflammatory and neurodegenerative pathways have been suggested. The goal of this study is to follow-up patients that have been treated for TBI at the neurosurgical department about 10-15 years after their initial injury, in order to analyze fluid biomarkers of inflammation, injury and degeneration and associate these with structural imaging and long-term functional outcome. The investigators aim to invite about 100 patients back and perform advanced magnetic resonance imaging protocols, sample cerebrospinal fluid and blood for different bio- and inflammatory markers, study genetic modifications and associate it with outcomes being assessed through questionnaires. The investigators' hypothesis is that patients with ongoing inflammatory processes will present with more fluid biomarkers of neurodegeneration, worse clinical presentation and also more structural/atrophic signs on imaging. This will result in an increased understanding of the interplay between neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration in chronic TBI, as well as a panel of tentative biomarkers that could be used to assess level of disability following TBI and chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE).

The main purpose of the project is to validate patient reported outcomes measures (PROMs) in reconstructive breast surgery. BREAST-Q will be evaluated for Swedish and Sweden.Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS), EuroQol 5D (EQ5D), and SF-36 will be validated for reconstructive breast surgery. In addition, the complication classification system according to Clavien-Dindo will be validated for reconstructive breast surgery.
The aim of the trial is to determine whether organized screening with primary HPV analysis provide higher cancer protection in the age group 23-29 years compared to primary cytology.
Hypoxia and reduced oxygen partial pressure is commonly occurring after abdominal surgery. This study aims to investigate whether similar changes also occur after orthopedic surgery in the form of upper limb surgery. Inclusion: 60 patients undergoing orthopedic surgery in the form o knee-, hip-, shoulder- or elbow surgery. Exclusion: Dementia or cognitive impairment that makes it impossible to participate in studies. Arterial blood gas and lung function are undertaken before surgery, the day after surgery and at follow-up.
In swimming induced pulmonary edema (SIPE), there is a lack of knowledge regarding optimal treatment. The present study was designed to assess the benefit of treatment with positive expiratory pressure device (PEP-device) compared to spontaneous recovery in patients with SIPE without hypoxia in the out-of-hospital environment.
This is a Phase 2, parallel group study to evaluate the safety, tolerability, PK, and exploratory efficacy of 3 doses of CS1 in the treatment of PAH using the CardioMEMS HF System to obtain repeated measurements of PAP and other hemodynamic parameters. Elegible subjects will have a RHC to implant the CardioMEMS pulmonary artery (PA) Sensor followed by a Baseline Period for the subject to become familiar with the system, its measurements, how to send the data, and establish Baseline PA pressure. Alternately, the subject may already have the CardioMEMS HF System and is willing to have the system recalibrated in conjunction with RHC. Thereafter, the subject will be randomly assigned to 1 of 3 total daily doses of CS1 1:1:1; there will be 10 subjects assigned to each dose level. Subjects will receive study drug treatment for 12 weeks. During the study, mPAP and other hemodynamic parameters from CardioMEMS PA Sensor will be measured and data captured once daily in the morning before the subject gets out of bed. The data will be transferred electronically to a repository. The analysis will look at the area under the curve (AUC) of mPAP and the doses will be compared to each other regarding change from Baseline. In addition to the CardioMEMS HF System measurements, the subjects will be followed for mortality and morbidity, important biomarkers as well as subjective, functional, and structural parameters of importance for PAH, for the duration of the study. Subjects will be enrolled for up to 22 weeks: a Screening Period of up to 2 weeks prior to the start of the Baseline Period, a Baseline Period of up to 6 weeks prior to Randomization, a Treatment Period of 12 weeks, and a Follow-up Period of 2 weeks. The primary objective of the study is to obtain safety and tolerability data.
