There are about 5161 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Norway. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
200 patients with post partum anemia will be randomised to receive either intravenous iron (intervention group) or peroral iron (control group). The hypothesis is that intravenous iron supplementation is superior to standard peroral iron.
This is a register-based, epidemiological study of HPV type distribution in women aged 18 years and above with recurrent conization following a primary conization for high grade lesions/ microinvasive carcinomas. This study will involve data collection from different databases in the Cancer Registry of Norway.
The purpose of this study is to determine whether the analgetic and other effects effect of ketamine are partly mediated through opioid receptors
The purpose of this study is to determine whether modified CI therapy treatment is suitable and effective in the early rehabilitation after stroke, and to compare early CI intervention with a later CI intervention group.
This study assessed the initial efficacy and safety of canakinumab over a 4 week period in patients with systemic juvenile idiopathic arthritis (SJIA) having a flare. Response to treatment will be according to the adapted American College of Rheumatology(ACR)Pediatric 30 criteria at Day 15.
Some patients undergoing cardiac surgery develop excessive postoperative bleeding. Cardiopulmonary bypass causes platelet dysfunction. Several studies have documented the ability of desmopressin to reduce hemorrhage in a variety of congenital and acquired platelet disorders. In this study the investigators will investigate wether desmopressin reduces postoperative microvascular bleeding. The investigators will investigate wether desmopressin reduces platelet activation as measured by plasma concentration of neutrophil activating peptid 2 and by flow cytometry. The primary endpoint of the study will, however, be total postoperative bleeding and need for transfusions of blood components after surgery. The need for transfusions will be registered during the whole hospital stay. Patient with excessive postoperative bleeding (more than 250 ml for one hour, or more than 150ml for two hours during the first four hours) will be randomized into two groups and given either desmopressin or placebo (0,9% sodium chloride) as an intravenous infusion. Blood samples for plasma concentration measurements will be drawn before infusion of desmopressin/placebo, immediately after the infusion and 20 hours postoperatively. Postoperative bleeding will be registered for 16 hours. The need for any transfusions of blood products will be registered for the whole hospital stay.
Breast cancer patients report many symptoms while undergoing conventional care, including nausea/vomiting, fatigue, pain, depression and anxiety. Existing interventions to address these common side effects of treatment are limited. Patients diagnosed with cancer frequently seek complementary medicine (CAM), and there is a need to investigate potential effects of CAM therapies. This phased pilot and feasibility study has two aims: 1. Develop an acupuncture treatment protocol for adjuvant acupuncture care for breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy using structured interviews with established acupuncture teams in Norway. 2. Implement the treatment protocol in a pilot study to evaluate outcome measures, effect sizes and acceptability of acupuncture care delivered alongside conventional care. Study results will support the design of future research; including a Phase III randomised controlled trial.
The primary purpose of this study is to investigate whether administration of ixabepilone results in superior outcome as assessed by overall survival compared with that achieved with standard chemotherapy (paclitaxel or doxorubicin) in women with advanced endometrial cancer that has progressed following first-line chemotherapy.
This study will answer two separate questions. The first question is to test the cardiovascular effects of long-term treatment with rosiglitazone or pioglitazone when used as part of standard of care compared to similar standard of care without rosiglitazone or pioglitazone in patients with type 2 diabetes who have a history of or are at risk for cardiovascular disease. The second question will compare the effects of long-term supplementation of vitamin D on death and cancer
The purpose of this study is to monitor the performance of a large metal-on-metal bearing from the DePuy ASR™ System in the treatment of patients with hip joint disease requiring hip resurfacing surgery or a total hip replacement. Patients who enter the study will be evaluated at regular intervals following hip surgery using patient, clinical and x-ray assessments. The Study was terminated with effect from 30th November 2011 following the completion of 2 year follow up assessments for those patients remaining in the study. Please note that prior to this decision DePuy voluntarily recalled the ASR products on 24 August 2010. Additional information regarding this voluntary recall and the follow-up of patients affected by the recall can be found at the following links http://www.mhra.gov.uk/Publications/Safetywarnings/MedicalDeviceAlerts/CON155761 and http://www.depuy.com/countries_list.
