NCT ID: NCT00685750 Terminated - Clinical trials for Lung Cancer, Non-Small Cell

Expression Analysis of Specific Markers in Non-small Cell Lung Cancer or Melanoma

Start date: April 28, 2008
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study intends to analyze the expression of specific sets of markers in tumor samples and in serum from patients with Non-Small Cell lung Cancer (NSCLC) or Stage III or IV melanoma. The data obtained in this study will be used to guide future development of immunotherapies for melanoma or NSCLC patients. Moreover, the analyses will contribute to definition of markers potentially predictive of clinical response to specific anticancer therapies.

NCT ID: NCT00683696 Terminated - Heart Failure Clinical Trials

Echocardiography Guided Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy (EchoCRT)

EchoCRT
Start date: August 2008
Phase: Phase 2/Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The EchoCRT trial evaluates the effects of Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy (CRT) on mortality and morbidity of subjects with heart failure due to left ventricular systolic dysfunction, already receiving optimized HF medication, with a narrow QRS width (< 130 ms) and echocardiographic evidence of ventricular dyssynchrony.

NCT ID: NCT00681174 Terminated - Pain, Postoperative Clinical Trials

Controlled-Release Oxycodone For Postoperative Analgesia After Video-Assisted Thoracic Surgery

Start date: July 2008
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

The main hypothesis of this study is that preoperative administration of controlled-release (CR) oxycodone may reduce acute postoperative pain and improve time to discharge from the post-anesthesia care unit in patients undergoing video-assisted thoracoscopy for spontaneous pneumothorax. The study drug will be compared with intravenous morphine administered 30 minutes before the end of anesthesia.

NCT ID: NCT00679068 Terminated - Clinical trials for Pulmonary Hypertension

Effects of Bosentan on Respiratory Mechanics

Start date: May 2008
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

Bosentan has been largely used in the treatment of pulmonary hypertension (PH). It can improve exercise capacity, lower Borg dyspnoea score nad these effects are usually associated with the concomitant improvement in cardiopulmonary haemodynamics. No physiological study has so far verified the hypothesis that Bosentan may laso have an effect on the "respiratory side" of the cadio-pulmonary system (i.e. on pulmonary mechanics and work of breathing)

NCT ID: NCT00678587 Terminated - HIV Infection Clinical Trials

Eltrombopag To Reduce The Need For Platelet Transfusion In Subjects With Chronic Liver Disease And Thrombocytopenia Undergoing Elective Invasive Procedures

ELEVATE
Start date: June 2008
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to assess the ability of eltrombopag to elevate platelet counts thereby reducing the need for platelet transfusions in chronic liver disease patients with thrombocytopenia undergoing elective invasive procedures. The clinical benefit of eltrombopag will be measured by the proportion of subjects who avoid platelet transfusions, before, during and up to 7 days after undergoing an invasive procedure. In addition, bleeding events will be monitored during this time. The number of transfusions, safety events and medical resource utilisation will be monitored during this time and for up to 30 days after undergoing an invasive procedure to help further evaluate clinical benefit.

NCT ID: NCT00678288 Terminated - Clinical trials for Carcinoma, Renal Cell

A Study to Assess Sorafenib Alone and in Combination With Low-Dose Interferon Following Unsuccessful Treatment With Sunitinib in Patients With Advanced Renal Cell Cancer.

Start date: April 2008
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

This study is to assess sorafenib as second treatment for patients that have previously received only sunitinib as first-line treatment for advanced renal cell cancer, and who either responded and then progressed with sunitinib or were intolerant to sunitinib. This study is to assess if combining the usual dose of sorafenib (200mg twice-daily) with low dose interferon (3 million international unit (MIU) five times a week) can treat kidney cancer more effectively than the current approved dose alone and if it is safe. In addition, for patients that respond to treatment with sorafenib alone or in combination with interferon before progressing, patients may receive sorafenib alone at an increased dose of 300mg twice-daily, provided that toxicities are acceptable and at the discretion of the investigator.

NCT ID: NCT00676650 Terminated - Prostatic Neoplasms Clinical Trials

Sunitinib Plus Prednisone In Patients With Metastatic Castration-Resistant Prostate Cancer After Failure Of Docetaxel Chemotherapy

SUN 1120
Start date: July 2008
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This study will compare the safety and efficacy of sunitinib in combination with prednisone versus placebo and prednisone in patients that have metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer that has progressed after treatment with a docetaxel-containing chemotherapy regimen. This is a second-line study.

NCT ID: NCT00676143 Terminated - Alzheimer Disease Clinical Trials

Study Evaluating the Safety and Efficacy of Bapineuzumab in Alzheimer Disease Patients

Start date: May 2008
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This is a study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of multiple doses of bapineuzumab in patients with mild to moderate Alzheimer Disease. Patients will receive either bapineuzumab or placebo. Each patient's participation will last approximately 1.5 years.

NCT ID: NCT00673049 Terminated - Clinical trials for Carcinoma, Non-Small-Cell Lung

Trial Of CP-751, 871 And Erlotinib In Refractory Lung Cancer

NSCLC
Start date: May 2008
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The objective of this study is to test a clinical benefit of the addition of CP 751,871 to erlotinib therapy in patients with advanced NSCLC of non adenocarcinoma histology. The primary endpoint is Overall Survival (OS).

NCT ID: NCT00668772 Terminated - Clinical trials for Pulmonary Disease, Chronic Obstructive
