This randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial will be performed to assess the effect of N-acetylcysteine therapy on the incidence of nephrotoxicity among patients hospitalized with an infection and treated with aminoglycosides (AGs). Secondary goals of the study will be as follows: comparison of the mortality rates, and length of hospitalization among patients treated with N-acetylcysteine compared to the control group.
Late onset Hypothyroidism was found in infant with congenital hypothyroidism. The hypothesis is that infants with congenital hypothyroidism may lose thyroxin and other hormones via the chylothorax fluid causing transient hypothyroidism. In this study hormonal concentration will be measured in the chyle as well as hormonal serum level.
The purpose of this study is to compare two techniques for treating patients with Whiplash Associated Disorders, in relation to: disability, balance, cervical pain and cervical range of motion. The hypothesis: The APOS kit treatment is more effective than the short wave therapy.
The main objective of this study is to compare the sensitivity and specificity of a new system for analyzing the electrocardiogram (ECG) to the sensitivity and specificity of a conservative treadmill test in asymptomatic subjects, classified by Framingham score as moderate to high risk. Subjects will perform a routine exercise test with the addition of another set of electrodes to record high resolution ECG. All subjects will perform a stress echocardiography. The result of the routine ECG analysis will be compared to the new system and to the echocardiography results.
- A disposable blood pressure measuring device will be tested and compared to a standard mercury sphygmomanometer. - Up to 100 subjects with various levels of blood pressure values will be tested.

Numerous studies document the ability of tumors to shed DNA into the blood stream. Circulating DNA can thus be recovered for analyses, representing a surrogate tumor material to test for potential applications in disease diagnosis and prognosis. Detection of genetic alternation is one of the most important tests for cancer patient since they offen correlated with the clinical course, prognosis and chemosensitivity of primary brain tumors. Currently in brain tumor patients these molecular aberrations can be analyzed only on tumor tissue that was obtained at surgery or biopsy. Paucity of pathologic samples or poor fixation technique often make the tissue samples unassessable for molecular aberrations. Therefore, the ability to extract tumor DNA from peripheral blood holds a great clinical significance. Still, the molecular aberration evaluated on serum DNA should be correlated and verified by comparison to standard evaluations performed on tumor samples. Our study aim is to evaluate the feasibility of using serum DNA for routine diagnosis of tumor molecular aberrations.

Omalizumab will be given as add-on treatment to optimized asthma therapy in patients with severe persistent asthma, who demonstrate inadequate asthma symptom control. Response to omalizumab over time will be assessed by physicians and patients evaluating the overall improvement in control of their asthma. THIS STUDY IS NOT ENROLLING PATIENTS IN THE US.
