This is an open-label study consisting of a screening period, a conversion/titration phase (Phase 1), an open-label treatment phase (Phase 2), and a follow-up period. The study will enroll new subjects (hereafter referred as "de novo" subjects) with schizophrenia, or bipolar I disorder, manic or mixed episode with or without psychotic features, and rollover subjects with schizophrenia from 31-09-266 (hereafter referred to as "Study 266"). All de novo subjects must enter the screening period of the study. Subjects who are screened and are not required to go through Phase 1 will complete a Phase 2 baseline visit prior to their participation in Phase 2. The primary objective of this study is to evaluate the safety and tolerability of long term (6 months) armodafinil treatment as adjunctive therapy to mood-stabilizing medications in adults with bipolar I disorder.
This will be a multicenter, randomized, double-blind study designed to assess the efficacy, safety and tolerability of an oral Aripiprazole/Escitalopram combination therapy in participants with MDD who have demonstrated an incomplete response to a prospective trial of Escitalopram, and report a treatment history for the current MDD episode of an inadequate response to at least one and no more than three adequate trials of an approved antidepressant other than Escitalopram. An inadequate response is defined as less than a 50% reduction in depressive symptom severity as assessed by the participant's self-report on the Massachusetts General Hospital Antidepressant Treatment Response Questionnaire (ATRQ) and evaluated by the investigator as part of the participant's medical and psychiatric history. An adequate trial is defined as an antidepressant treatment for at least 6 weeks duration (or at least 3 weeks for combination treatments) at an approved dose as specified in the ATRQ.

The purpose of this study is to determine whether low dose Asacol® (27 mg/kg - 71 mg/kg) and high dose Asacol® (53 mg/kg - 118 mg/kg) are safe and effective when dosed as 400 mg delayed-release tablets given twice daily for 26 weeks to children and adolescents for the maintenance of remission of ulcerative colitis.
Background: - Surgical resection is the treatment of choice for patients with lung cancer, and cure after resection generally depends on whether lymph nodes are involved. A patient with Stage IIIA (N2) lung cancer has cancer in the lymph nodes involving the center of the chest (mediastinum). - Studies have shown that surgery alone as a treatment for Stage IIIA (N2) lung cancer is not as effective as chemotherapy followed by surgery. - Giving chemotherapy upfront may prevent the spread of Stage IIIA (N2) lung cancer tumors, and may shrink the tumors to allow adequate surgery to be performed. It is also thought that chemotherapy is usually better tolerated before major surgery than after, so higher doses can be given. Objectives: - To determine the effectiveness of the combination of three anti-cancer drugs (gemcitabine, cisplatin, and bevacizumab) given before surgery. - To find out what effects this drug combination may have on the patient and the cancer. - To determine if the combination of all three drugs given prior to surgery is more effective and as safe, safer, or less safe than other drug combinations given before surgery. Eligibility: - Patients with Stage IIIA (N2) lung cancer who have not had chemotherapy, radiation, or surgery to treat the cancer. Design: - Evaluations before the treatment period to determine eligibility: - Physical examination, including vital signs and body weight checks, and pregnancy test for women who can become pregnant. - Tests to evaluate heart and lung function, such as an echocardiogram. - Blood and urine tests. - Disease evaluation with computed tomography (CT), chest X-ray, positron emission tomography (PET) scans, and bronchoscopy/mediastinoscopy (examinations of the inside of the chest and lungs). - Treatment with intravenous gemcitabine, cisplatin, and bevacizumab for three 21-day cycles. - Cycles 1 and 2 - Gemcitabine on day 1 and day 8, cisplatin on day 1, bevacizumab on day 1. - Cycle 3 - Gemcitabine on day 1 and day 8, cisplatin on day 1 (no bevacizumab). - Physical examinations and tests will be conducted throughout each cycle. - Surgery will take place 4 to 6 weeks after the last cycle if heart and lung functions are satisfactory and if the cancer remains stable. - Chemotherapy (four 21-day cycles of cisplatin and etoposide treatments), further evaluations and examinations, and followup studies will take place 4 to 8 weeks after the surgery.
This is a study in patients with chemotherapy induced anemia receiving multi-cycle chemotherapy for the treatment of stage IV non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The primary objective of the study is to demonstrate that overall survival (OS) is not worse in participants on darbepoetin alfa treated to a hemoglobin ceiling of 12.0 g/dL compared to participants treated with placebo.
This study will compare the safety and efficacy of a tigecycline regimen versus an imipenem/cilastatin regimen for the treatment of subjects who are hospitalized with hospital-acquired pneumonia (HAP). At least 70% of enrolled subjects will have ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP). Two dose levels of tigecycline will be assessed and compared to imipenem/cilastatin in parallel. Subjects will receive intravenous therapy from a minimum of 7 & up to 14 consecutive days, the exact duration will be at the decision of the investigator based on the subject's condition. Additional protocol specified antibiotics may be given to ensure appropriate coverage. A final assessment at test-of-cure (TOC) visit will be done 10 to 21 days after the last day of therapy. The total duration of subject participation will be between 17 and 44 days, including a follow up period of 30 days after the last day of therapy for SAEs. Subjects will be followed for safety and efficacy. The safety assessment will include: physical examinations, vital signs, assessment of the clinical signs and symptoms of pneumonia, collection of adverse events, 12-lead ECG, collection of samples for hematology, serum chemistries, and coagulation parameters, & a serum or urine pregnancy test before study entry for women of childbearing potential. The clinical and microbiological efficacy will both be evaluated.
