This randomized, multicenter, double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel-group study will evaluate the efficacy and safety of lebrikizumab as monotherapy in the absence of background IPF therapy and as combination therapy with pirfenidone background therapy in participants with IPF. Participants will be randomized to receive either lebrikizumab or placebo subcutaneously every 4 weeks.
SICA-HF is a prospective, multicentre, multinational, longitudinal, pathophysiological evaluation study, which is being conducted in 11 centres across six countries. SICA-HF receives funding from the European commission's Seventh Framework Programme (FP7/2007-2013) under grant agreement no. 241558 (SICA-HF) and from the Russian Ministry of Science and Education within the file transfer protocol "R&D in priority fields of the S&T complex of Russia 2007-2012" under state contract number 02.527.11.0007. The aim of SICA-HF is to provide detailed characteristics of co-morbidities of heart failure at baseline and over time, particularly with regards to obesity, cachexia, and type 2 diabetes.
To assess the effects of AZD4901 when given in multiple doses to females with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome
This was a within group, randomised, repeated dose, placebo- and octreotide controlled study in a target population of 45 healthy male subjects. Subjects were required to attend the clinical for screening procedures between 3 and 28 days before dosing commenced. The study was conducted in 4 groups of subjects; Groups 1 to 3 were a double-blinded, randomised design, each consisting of 12 subjects. Group 4 was an open-label design and consisted of 9 subjects. There was a minimum interval of 96 h between dosing of Groups 1, 2 and 3 to allow for interim analyses of PK and safety/tolerability data for dose escalation purposes. Group 4 (the active control group) was still to proceed if the decision was taken to prematurely stop dosing with ITF2984 (somatostatin analogue) following review of the PK and safety data presented at the interim decision meeting; dosing of this group was conducted independently from Groups 1 to 3. On Days 1 to 6, subjects in Groups 1 to 3 were to receive 2 doses of investigational medicinal product (IMP) approximately 12 h apart; subjects in Group 4 were to receive 3 doses of IMP approximately 8 h apart. For all groups, subjects were scheduled to receive their final dose of IMP on the morning of Day 7. In addition, subjects were to receive exogenous test administrations(stimulation test) on Day -1, Day 1 and Day 7 at the same time on each day (ie for Day -1, 23.5 h before the first dose of IMP, and for Days 1 and 7, 0.5 h after the first dose of IMP on the respective day). Blood samples for PD and PK analyses were taken at specified time points after each dosing. Subjects remained on site for 10 days (ie 36 h after the final dose of IMP on Day 7) providing that discharge conditions had been met, and returned to the clinic between 5 and 10 days after the last IMP administration for a follow-up visit.
This is a prospective, multicenter, open-label, comparative and parallel-group study of ovulation induction evaluating tailoring of Recombinant follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) treatment using the Gonal-f® prefilled pen in World Health Organization (WHO) Type 2 anovulatory subjects who have previously failed to conceive with clomifene treatment.
This study aims to evaluate the use of rivaroxaban and its short term safety when used by patients for the new indications of prevention of stroke and systemic embolism in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation, treatment of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE) and prevention of recurrent DVT and PE. Any adult patient started by their care team on rivaroxaban or an alternative anticoagulant for the specified indications during the study period will be eligible to take part. A questionnaire will be completed by the care team of each patient at the start of treatment and again 12 weeks later. The care team will complete the questionnaires using information from the patient's medical notes, not by asking the patient directly. If a participant has an adverse event during the 12 week period, we may ask the patient's care team to fill out a further follow up questionnaire. No other examinations or tests will be performed. Patients will only be recruited to the study after the clinical decision to prescribe rivaroxaban or an alternative anticoagulant has been made, so that prescribing behaviour is not altered by the study. It is an observational, non-interventional study covering the whole of England and Wales.
After surgery for oesophageal (gullet) or gastric (stomach) cancer, patients are routinely fed by means of a small feeding tube into the intestine (jejunostomy, JEJ) while they are in hospital. Current practice is to stop feeding once the patient leaves hospital, although the tube is left in place for the first 6 weeks. Most patients lose weight after surgery and have to learn to adjust to new eating habits and behaviours. A few patients have the JEJ feed restarted because of nutritional problems and this requires a further inpatient stay. It is unknown whether every patient would benefit from this type of feeding at home. Previous studies have only assessed the value of JEJ feeding while patients are still in hospital. There is little known about the benefit of continuing JEJ feeding after discharge from hospital, although home feeding is not uncommon in other patient groups (eg. after a stroke). The proposed study will provide initial information on patients' well being by measuring quality of life and factors such as change in body weight and dietary intake following a period of home JEJ feeding after surgery. Subjects recruited into the study will be placed, randomly, into a control group who receive current nutritional care (based on dietary advice and oral nutritional supplement drinks) or an intervention group who will receive home JEJ feeding for 6 weeks after hospital discharge, in addition to current treatment. If subjects in the control group are experiencing problems eating at home, home feeding through the JEJ tube will be started as needed. The study will also examine how surgery and JEJ feeding at home impact on the patient and carer(s) by means of questionnaires and interviews conducted in the patients' home. Information obtained will assist in the design of a multicentre study. This intervention is considered important because it has the potential to benefit thousands of patients each year at a modest cost.

This was the first evaluation of the effects of LCZ696 on local and regional measures of aortic stiffness in subjects with mild to moderate hypertension and widened pulse pressure. The results of this exploratory study will help to understand the mechanism of action of LCZ696 and used to inform the design of future clinical studies with LCZ696 in subjects with cardiovascular diseases.
Meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD) is a common condition that causes the secretion from meibomian glands in the eyelids to become blocked. Normally, the secretion helps to maintain a healthy tear film. In MGD, the tear film becomes unstable and often causes dry eye symptoms. Treatments often involve gently warming the eyelids to melt this blockage which prevents tears from spreading over the eye. Although there has been some research on application of heat with warm moist flannels, the Eye Bags potentially offers a simpler and more effective method of applying heat to the eyelids. This study will test the efficiency of these eyelid warming devices over a period of two weeks use in one eye compared to the other non-treated eye.
