There are about 3961 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Finland. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
This intervention aims to reduce obesity by using new type of nutritional and lifestyle therapy and in parallel, tailored persuasive information and communications technology (ICT)-technology based application. The study hypothesis is that obesity cannot be reduced just by distributing nutritional information. Instead, by influencing also the eating behavior, permanent lifestyle changes can be achieved. The effect of the therapy along the time-line, the health information literacy of the study persons and the changes in it will be studied at different phases of the intervention. The research will be carried out in three groups of different nutritional therapies with a parallel ICT-intervention group for each.
The primary objective of this study is to evaluate the effect of 12 weeks of treatment with once daily administration of AQX-1125 compared to placebo in subjects following exacerbations of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) by targeting the SHIP1 (Src Homology 2-containing Inositol-5'-Phosphatase 1) pathway.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of apalutamide in adult men with high-risk non-metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer.
Since 1990s, stimulation of prefrontal cortex (PFC) has shown therapeutic effects on auditory hallucinations as well as negative symptoms of schizophrenia. However, previous studies have reported mixed or negative results. Majority of the repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) studies to date has set the target of cortical stimulation based on scalp site. Recently introduced method, navigated transcranial magnetic stimulation (nTMS) integrates the individual MRI data, and thus allows more precise targeting on brain cortical regions enhancing the efficacy of rTMS. Previous EEG studies have suggested reduced alpha band activity in patients with schizophrenia. Some recent studies using alpha (α) EEG guided TMS for treating positive and negative symptoms of schizophrenia have demonstrated promising results. The aim of the study is to investigate the efficacy of navigated individualized αTMS in treatment-resistant patients with schizophrenia. Approximately fifty patients with DSM-IV schizophrenia will be enrolled in this randomized, double-blind, sham-controlled study. The patients will receive 13 - 15 session of αTMS to the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC), as adjunctive therapy, for 3 weeks. We assess patients via the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS), Clinical Global Impression (CGI) and neurocognitive test battery at baseline, 5 days after and 3 months after treatment. Serum and plasma levels of brain derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) are assayed at pre and post treatment weeks.
Benign biliary strictures caused by chronic pancreatitis can be endoscopically treated with covered self-expandable metal stents (cSEMS).The purpose of the prospective randomized study is to define the optimal duration of stenting and the diameter of the cSEMS.
To investigate the safety and efficacy of nivolumab as a single agent or in combination with ipilimumab in 6 tumor types - triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), gastric cancer (GC), pancreatic adenocarcinoma (PC), small cell lung cancer (SCLC), bladder cancer (BC), and ovarian cancer (OC). A combination of nivolumab with ipilimumab and cobimetinib is also investigated in PC.
The aim of this study is to examine the effectiveness of intervention based on mindfulness and acceptance-commitment therapy (ACT) in the recovery from job burnout. The 8-week intervention is delivered using jointly face-to-face group meetings and web-based program. The study hypothesizes that the Muupu-program is more effective than the normal practices when promoting work well-being in Finland. The participants are recruited from Finland.
To determine the effects of 12 weeks administration of different dose levels of ALV003 on the mucosal lining of the small intestine and symptoms in celiac disease patients.
Bioactive fibre-reinforced composite implant is used for reconstruction of skull bone defects and orbital floor defects. Functional and aesthetic outcome is assessed by patient and doctor.
Small bowel obstruction is a common reason for surgical admission. Most common reason for small bowel obstruction is adhesions, which account up to 70-80 % of small bowel obstructions. Large proportion of adhesive small bowel obstructions may be treated nonoperatively, but up to 50-60% may need surgical intervention. Current golden standard for surgical intervention is open adhesiolysis. Recently, retrospective studies have provided encouraging results of laparoscopic adhesiolysis for small bowel obstructions. However, no prospective randomized trials have been carried out and retrospective series carries a high risk for patient selection and bias. Although in general laparoscopy has been associated with shortened hospital stay, less pain and reduced mortality, laparoscopic adhesiolysis for small bowel obstruction has been reported to cause iatrogenic small bowel lesions up to 7% of patients. Aim of the study is to compare open adhesiolysis to laparoscopic adhesiolysis. The investigators hypothesis is that laparoscopic adhesiolysis is safe, will shorten the hospital stay, and reduce mortality compared to open approach.
